Treating post-ulceration of carbuncles and sores, promoting muscle growth and eliminating scars.
Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) 1 liang, Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 2 qian, Huang La (Beeswax) 2 liang, Huang Dan (Minii Oxidum Rubrum) 2.5 liang.
The above first three herbs are crushed into coarse powder. In spring and autumn, use 4.5 liang of Sesame Oil; in summer, 4 liang; in winter, 5 liang. Boil the herbs until they turn purple-red, filter through cotton cloth to remove dregs, then add Beeswax and Minii Oxidum Rubrum. Stir continuously with a willow branch until a drop forms a bead when tested in water, then stop heating. Apply according to routine methods.
For washing carbuncles and sores on the back of the head/neck.
Zhu Ti (Porci Pes) one piece (prepared as food), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) 3 qian 3 fen, Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) 3 qian 3 fen, Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) 1 fen, Qiang Wei Gen (Rosae Rugosae Radix) 1 liang, Ye Lang Ya (Acanthopanacis Senticosi Caulis) 1 liang.
Chop the herbs into pieces. Use 2 dou of water to boil the pig's trotter until cooked clear. Obtain about half a portion of the clarified juice, add the herbs, and decoct until only two or three parts remain. Filter out the dregs and wash the wound. Dry with a linen cloth. Do this twice daily. If there is pain, add Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) and Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) each 1 fen.
Treating carbuncles and swelling where malignant flesh remains incomplete, with dripping pus and fluid. Applying this can eliminate necrotic tissue and promote new flesh growth.
Bai Fan (Alumen) 1 liang (processed by covering with a tile in a silver bowl to exhaust its toxicity), Xue Jie (Santalum Rubrum) 1 liang.
Grind the above into fine powder. Mix with Mulberry Sap (Sang Jiang) to form a paste. Apply according to the size of the wound. Avoid eating crucian carp, alcohol, wheat products, and toxic substances.
The Classics state: "When pathogens sink into the vessels, fistulas are formed, lingering in the muscle interstices." When vessels receive cold, they sink downward, stagnating in the muscles, hence called "lingering in the muscle interstices"; cold muscles can also generate pus and blood, hence called "cold fistula." Warm herbs must be used. The formula follows.
Treating fistulous sores, and goiters/nodules persisting for twenty or thirty years, sometimes as large as cups or bowls, failing to heal for a long time, leading to fistula formation and ulceration. This causes bone wasting and muscle depletion. The masses may be hard, soft, or ulcerated, causing fright, restlessness, insomnia, body twitching pain, recurrence after healing.
Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum) 1 liang, Hu Po (Amber) 1 liang, Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) 1 liang, Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) 1 liang, Dan Shen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 3 fen, Shi Liu Huang (Sulfur) 0.5 liang, Bai Shi Ying (Quartzum Album) 0.5 liang, Zhong Ru Fen (Concha Trochus) 0.5 liang, Ou Zei Gu (Sepiae Endoconcha) 0.5 liang.
Grind the above into powder. Store in porcelain containers and leather bags to prevent leakage of qi. If the sore is wet, apply directly; if dry/no exudate, melt Pig Fat (Su Zhi) and mix with the powder for application, keeping it dry. If dead flesh does not resolve, adding Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) 2 liang is better. Another method uses one dried swallow droppings (Hu Yan Shi).
