It is stated: Yang qi exerts and yin qi transforms, thus pregnancy is formed. When the three yin meridians converge, female offspring are more likely to be born. However, at three months of gestation, it is named "initial fetus" (Shi Tai), where blood vessels have not yet flowed smoothly, and the fetus begins to change its form according to what the mother sees. At this time, the sex has not yet been determined; therefore, by administering medicines and methods before the third month is complete, one can influence the birth of a male child. The method involves placing an axe under the pregnant woman's bed with the blade pointing downwards, without letting others know. For those who may doubt this, when a hen is brooding eggs, one can place a similar setup under the nest; all chicks hatched from that nest will be roosters. Although this has not been tested, it is knowledge one should not ignore. Throughout the first three months of conception, the fetus changes in response to external stimuli. Thus, ancients established prenatal education (Tai Jiao), which can result in children who are kind, long-lived, loyal, filial, benevolent, righteous, intelligent, and free from disease. It is essential to expose oneself to beautiful scenes within the ten months of pregnancy and avoid evil or perverse influences; this is true good education. If there are incidents that offend and harm the fetus, there are specific treatments for each case. According to Xu Zhicai's monthly fetal nourishment and injury prescriptions, they are detailed but cumbersome and rarely used, so there is no space to record them here. Those knowledgeable should consult them themselves. Now, the following formulas for stabilizing the fetus are presented.
For treating cold womb causing abdominal pain during pregnancy, or heat in the womb causing frequent fright, lower back pain from lifting heavy objects, abdominal fullness with uterine tension, sudden vaginal bleeding, or injury from falling and twisting, poisoning from food or substances, or contracting seasonal diseases with alternating chills and fever, leading to damage to the fetal organ.

If thirsty, mix with barley juice. Even if the illness is cured, finish the course. If the taste is unpleasant and hinders appetite, it is suitable to make pills. This also treats leukorrhea and various diseases in unmarried women.
