Wuji San (Five Accumulations Powder)
Treats malaria occurring in individuals with weak constitutions, characterized by initial chills followed by fever. During chills, warmth from hot water or fire cannot alleviate the cold; during fever, contact with ice and snow cannot cool the heat, accompanied by aversion to cold and absence of sweating. (See "Shang Zheng Category" for the formula.)
Yangzheng Dan (Nourishing Righteousness Pill) (See "Gu Leng Category"), Jiangfu Tang (Ginger and Aconite Decoction), Fuzi Lizhong Tang (Aconite Regulate the Middle Decoction) (All see "Zhong Han Category"). These collectively treat Cold Malaria.
Xiangru San (Mosla Decoction)
Treats symptoms of fever without chills, indicating isolated exhaustion of Yin Qi and solitary hyperactivity of Yang Qi. Symptoms include shortness of breath, mental oppression and irritability, heat in the hands and feet, desire to vomit, and concurrent thirst. (See "Shang Shu Chapter" for the formula. One variation adds Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome), two liang per batch, named Huanglian Xiangru San. It treats Summerheat Malaria with isolated heat, restlessness, extreme thirst with desire to drink, dysuria, and facial greasiness. Each dose is decocted with 20 stems of Dengxincao (Juncus Effusus), 20 grains of Ophiopogonis Radix (Mendong) decentered, seven pieces of Danzhuye (Lophatherum Leaf), two roots of Cheqiancao (Plantago Herb), and one sliced piece of Wanhegen. Take at any time.)
Xiao Chaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction)
Treats malaria induced by summerheat injury, featuring more heat than chills, or only heat without chills, accompanied by cough, mental irritability, thirst, and red urine. Each dose is decocted with three slices of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), twenty decentered grains of Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), and a small amount of Digupi (Cortex Lycii). Take warm at any time. If heat is severe and the bowels are blocked, add Dahuang (Rhubarb Root) and Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange); one dose brings immediate relief. (See "Shang Yang Zheng Category" for the formula.)
Qingpi Tang (Clear Spleen Decoction)
Treats Dan Malaria (Febrile Malaria), with a wiry and rapid pulse, only heat without chills, or more heat than chills. Symptoms include chest fullness with ability to eat, bitter taste in the mouth, dry tongue, mental irritability with desire for water, red urine, and difficult defecation.
Qingpi (Bitter Orange Peel, white pith removed), Houpo (Magnolia Bark, coarse skin removed, stir-fried with ginger juice), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, rhizome head removed), Caoguoren (Tsaoko Cardamom Seed), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, rhizome head removed), Fuling (Poria), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber - *text truncated*).
Crush into a powder. Each dose is four qian, decocted with one and a half cups of water and five slices of ginger until reduced to seventy percent volume. Take warm at any time.
Xiaoshu Wan (Summerheat-Relieving Pills)
Treats malaria caused by summerheat injury, characterized by excessive phlegm, mental stuffiness, dizziness, and vertigo. Take fifty pills each time, swallowed with light ginger soup. (See "Zhong Shu Category" for the formula.) Use in conjunction with [missing text], take in larger amounts to achieve efficacy.
Zhu Fu Tang (Atractylodes and Aconite Decoction)
Treats alternating chills and fever, heavy body, painful joints, abdominal distension, spontaneous sweating, and frequent vomiting. This condition arises from bathing immediately after sweating, allowing dampness to lodge in the skin, or from exposure to rain.
Chushi Tang (Dampness-Removing Decoction)
Treats the same conditions as above. (Both formulas see "Zhong Shi Shang Shi Category". Chushi Tang is identical to Shen Shi Tang.)
Wu Ling San (Five-Ingredient Poria Powder)
Treats malaria triggered by dampness injury causing difficulty in urination. (See "Shang Shu Category" for the formula.)
