Also treats unnameable swelling and toxicity (unspecified abscesses or toxic swellings). Longan seeds, regardless of quantity, are roasted over fire until charred but retaining their medicinal properties, then ground into powder. Sprinkling this on the affected area leads to immediate cure. For treating unnameable swelling and toxicity, mixing with cold water for topical application is also excellent.
All kinds of injuries: From falling from heights, being cut or crushed by wood and stone, falling off horses, or overturning carts, resulting in stagnant blood, qi exhaustion, and near-death states. Take five sheng of pure soil, steam until hot, wrap tightly in layers of red cloth to make two packs, and apply alternately as hot compresses. Do not let it become too hot to avoid damaging the skin and flesh; stop when pain ceases.
If foreign objects enter the bone joints. Equal parts of Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia) and Ampelopsis Radix (Bai Lian) are ground into powder. Take one fangcun bi (a traditional Chinese measure) with wine. Take three times a day; after twenty days, the object will naturally expel itself.
Fresh roots of Inula Flower (Xuanfuhua) are crushed to extract juice, which is dripped onto the affected area, and the dregs are applied topically. Change three times a day; after half a month, severed tendons can reconnect.
Hard lumps like stone. Sophora Flower (Huaihua) is stir-fried until yellow, ground into powder, and taken with yellow rice wine. Three qian per dose dissolves the lump immediately. This disease initially presents as a hard lump in the breast, starting small as a bean, gradually enlarging to the size of a chicken egg, and only ulcerating after seven or eight years. Once ulcerated, it becomes incurable. The following prescription is suitable: dozens of raw crab shells are roasted in a clay pot until scorched, ground into fine powder. Take two qian per dose, washed down with aged wine. Do not interrupt the treatment. Gengsheng notes: The crab shell formula is quite effective, but should not be taken in large amounts. Excessive intake causes dizziness and vomiting, which must be noted. Moreover, crab shells and claws are most likely to induce abortion; pregnant women must not use them mistakenly. I have seen my teacher, Mr. Ma Peizhi, treat this condition primarily using Xiaoyao Powder (Free and Easy Wanderer Decoction), modified according to the case, often achieving immediate recovery. The nipple belongs to the Liver Meridian, and the breast belongs to the Stomach Meridian; the formation of this disease is entirely due to pathology in these two meridians. A woman surnamed Zheng from Hangzhou suffered from this condition and later obtained a formula that proved miraculously effective. The formula uses several pieces of Turtle Shell (Guiban), roasted yellow and ground finely, mixed with black date pulp to form pills. Take three qian per dose, washed down with decoction of Kaffir Lime Leaf (Jinjieye).
Guanzhong ash, mixed with sesame oil for topical application, provides immediate pain relief.
Scalds from fire or hot oil, unbearable pain. Take one cup of good wine and three egg whites, mix well, cook in warm water until set, stirring into a thin paste. Cool down and brush onto the affected area with a soft brush. After half a day, itching occurs; immediately after itching, roast Myrtle Bark (Yangmei Shupi) until charred but retaining properties, grind into fine powder, and apply mixed with sesame oil.
Gengsheng notes: There are many formulas for burns. Two extremely effective old formulas are attached below.
Topical Application Formula: Use aged starch (small powder), stir-fried until black, and stored properly. When needed, sift very finely and apply to the affected area. If the skin is already broken, sprinkle dry powder directly; if not broken, mix with aged rapeseed oil for application, providing immediate pain relief. This is a Western formula, tested repeatedly with miraculous results.
Decoction Formula: Raw Rheum Palmatum Root (Sheng Dahuang) 5 qian, Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui) 4 liang, Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjie) 3 qian (stir-fried), Raw Licorice Root (Sheng Gancao) 5 qian, Scutellaria Root (Huangqin) 3 qian, Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng) 3 qian, Astragalus Root (Mian Huangqi) 3 liang, Poria (Fuling) 3 liang. Decoct in three bowls of water until reduced to one bowl. Take warm. Do not alter the dosages. This formula truly has the power to revive the dying.
