Qingre Yin (Clearing Heat Decoction) is used to treat Chong She (swelling of the sublingual tissue resembling a double tongue).
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix Recens) (each 1 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Shilianzi (Nelumbinis Semen) (each 5 fen), Danzhuye (Lophatheri Herba) seven leaves. Administer frequently by pouring into the mouth.

Xiepi Yin (Draining Spleen Decoction) is used to treat E Kou (thrush, characterized by white pseudomembranes in the oral cavity).
Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (each 8 fen), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix Recens), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Bai Fuling (Poria) (each 7 fen), Dengxincao (Junci Medulla) ten stems. Administer slowly; recovery will follow.

Liang Xin San (Cooling Heart Powder) treats both Chong She and E Kou. It can be blown onto the tongue.
Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Pengsha (Borax), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (steamed with human milk and dried), Renzhongbai (Urinae Humanus Calcitrus) (each 2 qian, sieved), Fenghua Xiao (Natrii Sulfas Efflorescens), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) (each 1 qian), Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum) (appropriate amount). Grind all ingredients into an extremely fine powder and blow it into the affected area. This formula also treats Kou Gan (oral ulcers and erosions).

Dan Du (Erysipelas/Toxic Erythema) is a fire-pathogen syndrome. It originates from fetal heat. After conception, if the mother does not avoid pungent foods such as pepper, ginger, and garlic, nor fried, roasted, or baked items, nor alcohol and wheat-based foods; or if she contracts wind-heat; or if she engages in sexual intercourse without restraint, all these factors can assist the fire pathogen. The fire pathogen attacks internally, the fetus receives its toxicity, and this toxicity is transmitted to the infant. Therefore, after birth, infants often present with this condition. Onset may occur as early as five to six days, ten days, or half a month after birth; or as late as after one month, or two to three months. The manifestations vary: some present with protrusions under the chin like cherries, red and shiny, called Chi Liu (Red Tumor); some have red spots all over the body like scattered pearls, called Dan Zhen (Dan Rash); some have generalized redness and swelling with steaming heat, called Huo Dan (Fire Dan); some have sudden redness and swelling on the lower abdomen and scrotum like rosy clouds, migrating不定ly, called Chi You Dan (Roaming Red Dan). Although the disease names differ, they are collectively referred to as Dan Du. If Dan Du enters the abdomen, causing abdominal distension and refusal to suckle milk, the prognosis is fatal. One must urgently administer cooling and detoxifying formulas before the toxin enters the abdomen, and use a small knife to gently prick out the evil blood; there remains a chance of survival. If it has already entered the abdomen, no other method exists but purgation. Occasionally, survival occurs through purgation, but this is one in a thousand. Among all types of Dan Du, Chi You Dan is the most critical. Those skilled in infant care, upon noticing excessive crying, wailing, or frequent feeding in an infant, should examine the entire body thoroughly. If any redness is observed, immediate treatment is required. If observation is inadequate, and Dan Du is present on the body while the mother remains unaware, by the time she realizes it, the toxin has already entered the abdomen, making rescue futile. Regarding Dan Du, Si Liu (Silk-like Tumor/Fibroma) is not treated, because it results from prolonged intake of hot medicines forcing heat into the fetus, which cannot be resolved by medication.
