Symptoms of Shangfeng (Wind-Cold Invasion) include headache, fever, nasal congestion, coarse breathing, sneezing, yawning, continuous groaning, aversion to wind, and slight chills. This is no different from Shangfeng in adults. If complicated by food stagnation, vomiting of food occurs; if complicated by phlegm, vomiting of phlegm occurs. The dosage of medicinal agents should be reduced by half compared to adult doses. Regardless of whether there is phlegm or food stagnation, it is necessary to concurrently use herbs that clear phlegm and promote digestion. This is because children are prone to food injury, and heat generates phlegm. Therefore, the prescription should slightly employ mild resolving methods, aiming for slight sweating. Adding some heat-clearing herbs will lead to recovery. Since wind pathogens lodge in the couli (interstitial spaces between skin and muscle), they cannot heal without resolution; without clearing heat and transforming phlegm, children will not easily find peace. Although the symptoms are similar to those in adults, there may still be slight differences.
