Obese women suffer from infertility due to excessive body fat obstructing the uterus, resulting in amenorrhea; treatment may involve formulas such as Daotan Tang (Phlegm-Resolving Decoction). Thin women suffer from infertility because the uterus lacks blood and essence fails to gather; treatment involves herbs that nourish blood and yin, such as Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction). My niece had both substantial form and robust qi but conceived late. After taking Shenxian Jubao Dan (Immortal’s Precious Treasure Pill), she developed a carbuncle on her back, presenting with critical symptoms. Her pulse was rapid, large, and choppy. I urgently prescribed modified Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) for over one hundred doses to tonify her yin-blood. Fortunately, her constitution was thick, allowing for easier recovery; for those with a thin constitution, it would be too late to regret!
Take one sheng of wheat flour yeast and five sheng of unadulterated wine, boil until three and a half sheng remain. Filter through silk cloth to remove dregs, and divide into three doses. On the eve of the expected menstrual period, take one dose in the evening, one dose at wugeng (3–5 AM) the next morning, and one dose at dawn. The menstruation will then commence, and she will be sterile for life.
Generally, miscellaneous diseases in women are treated similarly to those in men. For female vulvar swelling, use eight ounces of Zhi Shi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), chopped and stir-fried until hot, wrapped in old linen cloth, and applied as a warm compress; replace when cool. For malignant sores in the vagina, apply fine powder of Liu Huang (Sulfur) externally, which is highly effective. For moist blisters, add Qian Fen (Lead Carbonate) externally. Another method: apply dried alum powder externally. This method is also used for male genitalia. For pain in the female perineum/genital area, wrap fried salt in green cloth and apply as a warm compress. For vaginal coldness, grind Mu Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos) into powder, sew into a small gauze pouch the size of a little finger, fill with the powder, and insert into the vagina; this cures the condition. For warming the middle jiao, mix She Chuang Zi (Cnidii Fructus) powder with a small amount of Bai Fen (Rice Powder), form into pills the size of a jujube, wrap in cotton, and insert. For cloudy urine mixed with abnormal stool, use Wuling San (Five Ling Powder) to separate water and grain. For dreams of intercourse with ghosts, take Lu Jiao (Cervi Cornu Deinodatum) powder mixed with wine. For women whose hair is not black, apply Bajiao You (Musa Sapientis Oil). For wind-induced pruritus and urticaria in women, where itching persists, grind Can Er Zi (Xanthii Fructus) and Hua Guo Zi (likely referring to a specific fruit seed, contextually similar to Xanthium or related anti-pruritic agents) into powder, and drink two to three qian with Dou Lin Jiu (Bean-Dripping Wine). *Daquan Liangfang* (Great Comprehensive Good Prescriptions) discusses women dreaming of intercourse with ghosts, attributing it to deficiency of the zang-fu organs and the spirit failing to reside within, allowing ghostly pathogens to cause disease. Symptoms include aversion to seeing people, appearing as if conversing with someone, sometimes laughing alone, sometimes weeping. The pulse may be slow and deep, or intermittent like a bird pecking, all indicating ghost-pathogen disease. A continuous, indistinct pulse without discernible rhythm, accompanied by unchanged complexion, is also a sign. Ghosts are formless, connecting upon resonance. This generally arises from improper thoughts attracting ghosts, which attach to evil qi and enter the body, interacting with the spirit, thus appearing in dreams. Therefore, the treatment method generally uses Zhu Sha (Cinnabaris), She Xiang (Moschus), Xiong Huang (Realgar), Gui Jian Yu (Cornus Swinhoei Cortex), and Hu Tou Gu (Tigris Ossis) to dispel evil, which can lead to cure.
