The Great Wind disease (Leprosy) is caused by contracting the killing qi of heaven and earth between the world. (This view has already appeared in *Yi Yao*). Treatment methods: For lesions located above, use Zuixian San; for those located below, use Tongtian Zaizao San, which comes from the *San Yin Fang* formula. Subsequently, use Tongshen San, which is Fangfeng Tongsheng San. Also use a three-edged needle to bleed at Weizhong (BL40). If the patient cannot abstain from food and drink or sexual indulgence, it is incurable.
Zuixian San (already seen in *Yi Yao*) must be administered with dosage adjustments based on the patient's size and deficiency/excess constitution. For severe and acute cases, one must first use Zaizao San to purge, wait for the body to recover through nourishment, and then administer this medicine. When taking these medicines, one must cut off salt, soy sauce, vinegar, all kinds of fish and meat, pepper and other spices, fruits, and foods prepared by roasting, baking, grilling, or frying. One can only eat plain congee and boiled seasonal vegetables, and the diet must be bland. Eggplant should not be eaten. Only Zhaoshe (Zaocys, 乌梢蛇) and Caihuashe (Dinodon rufozonatum, 菜花蛇) can be boiled and eaten with light wine to assist the medicinal power. Another version states: The efficacy of Zuixian San is indeed supreme, but it must use Yinfen (Calomel, 银粉) as an guiding agent. Because Yinfen is a crucial agent for descending through the diaphragm and unblocking the large intestine, it is used to drive other medicines into the Yangming Meridian, opening the wind-heat stagnation causing fullness and obstruction, thereby expelling foul and turbid toxic qi, killing the worms generated therein. The medicinal qi ascends along the meridian to the teeth, acting on the tender and thin parts, and expels foul and toxic saliva. If taking this medicine damages the teeth, one can wipe them with Huanglian powder (Coptidis Rhizoma, 黄连末). Alternatively, protect the stomach beforehand to resolve the toxicity of Yinfen.
Tongtian Zaizao San uses Chuanjinwen Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 川锦纹大黄) one liang (processed), and Dusheng Zaojiaoci (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina, 独生皂角刺) one and a half liang (processed, must be black and large after one year). Grind the above into fine powder. Take two qian each time, mixed with cold wine before going to bed at night. Prepare a clean bucket to await the excretion of worms. If the worm mouth is black, it is a worm that has existed for many years; if the worm mouth is red, it is a recent one. Administer another dose after a few days, until no worms are found, signifying the root is eradicated. Another version states: The Master said that Tongtian Zaizao San also contains Yujin (Curcumae Radix, 郁金) half a liang (raw), and Baiqianniu (Pharbitidis Semen, 白牵牛) six qian (half raw, half stir-fried).
Formula for treating Leprosy: Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 羌活), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 防风), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 陈皮), and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草). Another formula: Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 大黄), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩), and Xionghuang (Realgar, 雄黄). Grind the three ingredients into powder. Use a strong decoction of Zhangshuye (Cinnamomi Camphorae Folium, 樟树叶) to steam and wash with the aforementioned medicine. For leprosy patients with a pulse that is large and deficient, use Cang'er (Xanthii Fructus, 苍耳) and Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, 牛蒡子), each three liang (wine-steamed); Huangjing (Polygonati Rhizoma, 黄精) and Fuping (Minturnae Herba, 浮萍) one liang; Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, 苦参) seven and a half qian. Grind the above into powder. Boil Wushe Rou (Zaocys, 乌蛇肉) in wine; if snake is unavailable, use Wu Liyu (Cyprinus carpio, 乌鲤鱼). Form into pills and take. Wait until the pulse becomes solid, then use Tongtian Zaizao San to purge the worms.
Formula for treating Lifen (Leprosy): Cang'er (Xanthii Fructus, 苍耳), Ye Fuping (Minturnae Herba, 叶浮萍), and Shunianzi (Arctii Fructus, 鼠粘子), stir-fried with Doulinjiu (Bean-leavened Wine, 豆淋酒), equal parts. Grind into powder and take with Doulinjiu. One formula includes She Rou (Snake Meat, 蛇肉). Huangjing Wan (Polygonati Pill): Cang'er (Xanthii Fructus, 苍耳), Ye Fuping (Minturnae Herba, 叶浮萍), and Shunianzi (Arctii Fructus, 鼠粘子), equal parts, stir-fried. She Rou (Snake Meat, 蛇肉) is halved. Soak in wine, remove skin and bones. Weigh Huangjing (Polygonati Rhizoma, 黄精) double the previous amount. Cang'er and the other three ingredients are raw and pounded. Pound Cang'er together with others, dry by baking, grind into powder, add flour paste to form pills. Itchy sensation on the body is due to deficiency, where blood fails to nourish the muscle and interstices, hence the itching. Use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 黄芩), mixed with Fuping powder (Minturnae Herba, 浮萍末).
To treat generalized itching, use Lingxiaohua (Lagerstroemiae Indicae Flos, 凌霄花) one qian ground into powder, mixed with wine. Another version states: Take Tongtian Zaizao San before sunrise, facing east, taken with Wuhuijiu (Unadulterated Wine, 无灰酒), to the maximum extent tolerated. For mild cases, only foul substances like fish intestines will be purged. Avoid toxic foods for half a month, eat only thin congee and soft rice. Eyebrows, hair, and skin will gradually return to normal. For severe cases, no more than two or three doses are needed. Careful management is required; do not engage in reckless labor. Furthermore, one must never consume beef, horse, donkey, or mule meat for life. Those who violate this prohibition will die and cannot be saved.
