To treat the venom of the *Jiuli* bee (also known as *Hu* bee), use a gourd bean (*Gleditsia sinensis*) with a hole drilled in it, apply it to the site of the sting. Moxibustion of three cones should be applied directly over the hole in the bean, which will bring immediate relief. To treat a centipede bite, roast a whole scorpion (*Scorpio*, *Quanshe*) and apply it using the same method as for the *Jiuli* bee. For snakebites of all kinds, use Paris polyphylla var. *yunnanensis* (*Chonglou*, *Jinxian Chonglou*). Grind a small amount with water to make a paste, apply it to the wound, and also grind it into fine powder, mixing it with wine for oral administration. Another prescription uses leaves of *Urtica* species, fish grass, ground pine (also known as wrinkled-face herb), and Cassia seed (*Juemingzi*, *Caojue Ming*). Any one of these, finely ground and applied to the bite site, is effective. To treat centipede venom entering the mouth, apply Ginseng root (*Renshen*) topically. Another method involves placing a live spider on the wound for rapid effect; if the spider dies, place it in water to revive its vital energy.
To resolve mushroom toxicity, equal parts of Aucklandia root (*Muxiang*) and green tangerine peel (*Qingpi*) are decocted and drunk. To resolve poisoning from various drugs, use two taels of Chinese gall (*Wubeizi*), finely ground, mixed with unadulterated wine and taken warm. If the toxin is located in the upper body, vomiting will occur; if in the lower body, diarrhea will ensue. In case of eating toxic horse or beef, take four taels of large licorice root (*Gancao*), ground into powder, mixed with unadulterated wine and consumed entirely. The patient will soon experience severe vomiting and diarrhea. If thirsty, do not drink water, as drinking water will cause death. Another prescription for mushroom toxicity involves consuming the head of a croaker fish (*Shishouyu*, also known as dried white fish head).
For treating "Hu Qi" (a term possibly referring to certain skin sores or scrofula), use ammonium chloride (*Naosha*), lead monoxide (*Miduoseng*), alum (*Mingfan*), verdigris (*Tongqing*), Aconitum carmichaelii side root processed (*Baifu*, *Baifuzi*), and cinnabar (*Chensha*). First, wash the affected area two or three times with a soap pod decoction, then apply the medication (text missing here). Another method adds red lead oxide (*Huangdan*) and mercury (*Shuiyin*) to the previous herbs; dip flesh of a white plum (*Baimei*) into the powder and rub it on the lesion. Yet another method uses calcined yellow cinnabar (*Feihuangdan*), lead monoxide (*Miduoseng*), and dry alum (*Kubai Fan*); dip steamed dough balls into the powder and rub.
Menstrual blood is Yin blood. Yin must follow Yang, hence its red color, inheriting the hue of Fire. It corresponds to the moon above, and its flow follows a regular pattern. It is called: Menstruation is the companion of Qi, moving with Qi. Clots indicate Qi stagnation; pain before menstruation indicates Qi obstruction; pain after menstruation indicates deficiency of both Qi and Blood; pale color indicates deficiency of Blood mixed with Dampness; irregular flow indicates chaotic Qi; purple color indicates Heat in Qi; black color indicates extreme Heat. Currently, seeing purple-black painful clots is often attributed to Wind-Cold invasion, leading to the erroneous use of warming agents. Such cases are rare, perhaps one in a thousand. Black menstrual blood relates to the color of Water; purple is a progression from black, resulting from extreme Heat transforming into Water characteristics. This illustrates the principle that excess leads to harm, and control brings balance. Pain before menstruation indicates Blood Excess, or alternatively Qi Stagnation; treat with Peach Kernel (*Taoren*), Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfu*), and Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*). Pain before the expected date also indicates Qi Stagnation. Pain after the expected date indicates Deficiency with internal Heat; use Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Scutellaria root (*Huangqin*) and Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*). Alternatively, it may be Qi and Blood Deficiency; modify Ba Wu Tang (Eight Substances Decoction). Delayed menstruation with pain also indicates Deficiency with Heat. Early onset indicates Blood Heat. Alternatively, Qi and Blood Deficiency; use Si Wu Tang added with Scutellaria root (*Huangqin*) and Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*). For obese patients, address Phlegm. Delayed menstruation indicates Blood Deficiency; use Ligusticum chuanxiong (*Chuanxiong*), Angelica sinensis (*Danggui*), Ginseng (*Renshen*), Atractylodes macrocephala (*Baizhu*), and Phlegm-resolving herbs. Irregular menstruation with pale, watery blood requires tonifying Qi and Blood: Ginseng (*Renshen*), Atractylodes macrocephala (*Baizhu*), Ligusticum chuanxiong (*Chuanxiong*), Angelica sinensis (*Danggui*), Astragalus (*Huangqi*), Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfu*), Paeonia lactiflora (*Shaoyao*). Add prepared Rehmannia root (*Jiaozhu*), Mugwort leaf (*Aiye*), and Corydalis rhizome (*Yanhusuo*) for lower back pain. Delayed menstruation with purple-black clots indicates Blood Heat and必定 pain; use Si Wu Tang added with Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfu*) and Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*). Delayed menstruation with pale color indicates excessive Phlegm; use Er Chen Tang added with Ligusticum chuanxiong (*Chuanxiong*) and Angelica sinensis (*Danggui*). Purple, clotted menstrual blood indicates extreme Heat; use Si Wu Tang added with Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*). For amenorrhea due to delayed menstruation, use Eucommia bark (*Duzhong*) and Achyranthes root (*Niuxi*), crushed for juice (half cup), mixed with one qian of Corydalis rhizome powder (*Yanhusuo*), half qian each of Cyperus rhizome powder (*Xiangfu*) and Aurantium fruit (*Zhiqiao*), taken in the morning. Abdominal pain at the onset of menstruation is treated with Yi Qi San (Regulate Qi Powder), formulated as Si Wu Tang added with Tangerine peel (*Chenpi*), Corydalis rhizome (*Yanhusuo*), Moutan bark (*Mudanpi*), and Licorice root (*Gancao*). For severe pain, use Bean-soaked Wine (*Doulin Jiu*); for mild pain, cook Sedge rhizome (*Suogen*) in child’s urine, add small amounts of Scutellaria root (*Tiao Qin*), and form pills. For black menstrual blood with thirst, fatigue, short stature, dark complexion, and irregular rapid pulse, use fried Scutellaria root (*Huangqin*, 3 qian), Licorice root (*Gancao*, 2 qian), Red Peony root (*Chishaoyao*), and Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfu*, 5 qian), formed into pills. Another formula uses Dragon’s soil (*Fulonggan*) and soot from hundred herbs (*Baicaoshuang*), ground and bound with paste into pills. For menorrhagia caused by Phlegm obstructing the Sea of Blood, leading to heavy bleeding and gradual vision loss (common in obese individuals), use Arisaema (*Nanxing*), Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfu*), Ligusticum chuanxiong (*Chuanxiong*), and Atractylodes lancea (*Cangzhu*) as pills. For obese patients with early, heavy menstruation due to Phlegm, Blood Deficiency, and Heat, use Arisaema (*Nanxing*), Atractylodes macrocephala (*Baizhu*), Atractylodes lancea (*Cangzhu*), Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*), Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfu*), and Ligusticum chuanxiong (*Chuanxiong*), ground into pills. For amenorrhea due to Blood Dryness, use Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Peach Kernel (*Taoren*) and Safflower (*Honghua*). For amenorrhea in obese individuals with abundant body fat, use Dao Tan Tang (Guide Out Phlegm Decoction) added with Ligusticum chuanxiong (*Chuanxiong*) and Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*). Do not use Rehmannia root (*Dihuang*) as it is cloying and obstructs the chest; if used, stir-fry with ginger juice first. Jiao Jia Di Huang Wan (Interlaced Rehmannia Pill) treats irregular menstruation, blood clots, Qi stagnation, and abdominal pain in women: Raw Rehmannia root (*Sheng Dihuang*, 1 jin), old Ginger (*Lao Shengjiang*, 1 jin), Corydalis rhizome (*Yanhusuo*), Angelica sinensis (*Danggui*), Ligusticum chuanxiong (*Chuanxiong*), White Peony root (*Baishaoyao*, 2 liang each), Myrrh (*Moyao*), Amber (*Muxiang*, 1 liang each), Peach Kernel (*Taoren*, removed skin and tip), Ginseng (*Renshen*, 1.5 liang each), Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfuzi*, 0.5 jin). Grind all into powder. Soak Rehmannia in ginger juice; soak ginger residue in Rehmannia juice until liquids are exhausted. Mix all eleven ingredients, sun-dry, grind to fine powder, bind with vinegar paste into pills, take with ginger decoction on an empty stomach. For primary amenorrhea: Magnolia bark (*N Houpo*, 3 liang) boiled in 3 sheng of water down to 1 sheng, divided into three doses, taken on an empty stomach. For amenorrhea due to Cold binding internally, use Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Curcuma zedoaria (*Pengru*) and processed dried Ginger (*Zhiganjiang*, one piece each), plus fresh Ginger slices (three pieces), decocted and taken. Remove dried Ginger for virgins. For menorrhagia resembling metrorrhagia, use one dose of Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), three qian of Cyperus rhizome powder (*Xiangfu*), one piece of roasted dried Ginger (*Pao Ganjiang*), a little Licorice root (*Gancao*), and over a hundred grains of millet, decocted, divided into two doses, taken on an empty stomach. For pre-menstrual abdominal pain, send Lu Fang Qi Qi Tang (Formula Seven Qi Decoction) with Lai Fu Dan (Revive Life Pill), half a dose. For uncontrollable heavy menstruation, use San Bu Wan (Three Tonics Pill) added with Sedge rhizome (*Suogen*), Tortoise shell (*Guiban*), and Cibotium rhizome (*Jinmao Gouji*). For menorrhagia: Fried Scutellaria root (*Huangqin*), fried White Peony root (*Baishaoyao*), baked Tortoise shell (*Guiban*, 1 liang each), fried Coptis rhizome (*Huangbai*, 3 qian), Corktree bark (*Chunpi*, 7.5 qian), Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfu*, 2.5 qian). Grind into powder, bind with wine paste into pills. For retrograde menstruation, epistaxis, hemoptysis, or hematemesis, drink Leek juice (*Jiucai Zhi*) for immediate effect. For a case of Phlegm accumulation causing amenorrhea and nocturnal delirium, use Trichosanthes seed (*Gualouzi*, 1 qian), Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*, 0.5 qian), Evodia fruit (*Wuzhuyu*, 10 grains), Peach Kernel (*Taoren*, 5 seeds), Red yeast rice (*Hongqu*, a little), Amomum fruit (*Sharen*, 3 qian), Hawthorn fruit (*Shanzha*, 1 qian*). Grind into powder, form pills with ginger juice and steamed dough. For a case of Yin Deficiency with long-standing amenorrhea, scanty dysuria, and body pain, use Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Atractylodes lancea (*Cangzhu*), Achyranthes root (*Niuxi*), Tangerine peel (*Chenpi*), and raw Licorice root (*Sheng Gancao*). Also use Cang Sha Wan (Arisaema and Cyperus Pill) added with Xanthium fruit (*Cangersi*) and wine-processed Peony root (*Jiu Shaoyao*) as pills, swallowing with the decoction. For early menstruation due to Heat, use Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with Scutellaria root (*Huangqin*), Coptis rhizome (*Huanglian*), and Cyperus rhizome (*Xiangfu*). For pain preceding menstruation, use Xiao Wu Chen Tang (Minor Wu Chen Decoction) added with Aurantium fruit (*Zhiqiao*), Green Tangerine peel (*Qingpi*), Scutellaria root (*Huangqin*), and Ligusticum chuanxiong (*Chuanxiong*); suitable for Qi Excess, decocted and taken on an empty stomach.
