戴 络凝不固。肝脉布胁。呛逆凝瘀。左脉已静。右脉未和。此即络虚留滞之意。议益阴和阳。佐以宣络。

苏某（四十岁），咳嗽且声音嘶哑。需预防肺痿病的发生。
处方：川石斛（三钱）、炒扁豆（五钱）、茯神（二钱）、北沙参（一钱五分）、麦冬（三钱）、南枣（三钱）、玉竹（二钱）。
魏某，感受冬温之邪而咳嗽。频繁吐出涎沫，不能多饮水，胃纳食量很少。此证属于肺痿。暂用甘缓之法，作为针对“邪气少而正气虚多”的治疗策略。
处方：黄耆（蜜炙三钱）、白芨（二钱）、白百合（三钱）、当归（一钱五分）、南枣（三钱）、麦冬（二钱）、生苡仁（三钱）、炙甘草（四分）。
戴某，络脉凝滞而不固摄。肝脉分布于胁肋部，呛咳气逆伴有瘀血凝滞。左侧脉象已趋平静，右侧脉象尚未调和。这就是络脉空虚导致气血留滞的意思。议定采用益阴和阳的方法，佐以宣通络脉。
处方：原熟地黄（四钱）、西党参（二钱）、建莲（去心二钱）、真川贝母（二钱）、陈阿胶（蛤粉炒，二钱）、米仁（即薏苡仁，二钱）、旋复花（一钱）、云茯神（二钱）。
又方：人参（另煎冲服，五分）、陈阿胶（另烊化冲服，二钱）、枣仁（炒焦研碎，三钱）、原熟地黄（四钱）、大白芍（一钱五分）、茯神（二钱）、拣麦冬（一钱五分）。
蒋某（二十三岁），无梦而精液外泄。清醒时多，睡眠时少。这是少阴肾经不能主持封藏聚气的功能。
处方：熟地黄（四钱）、远志（五分）、山药（二钱）、桑螵蛸（二钱）、湖莲（三钱）、茯苓（三钱）、柏子仁（三钱）、芡实（二钱）。
徐某（四十一岁），梦境纷纭杂乱。遗精滑泄频繁发生。身为操劳经营之人，心神受扰而动心火，相火随之妄动。拟用介壳类药材以潜镇浮阳，用浓味厚腻之品以填补精髓。
处方：熟地黄（四钱）、龟腹版（即龟板，五钱）、远志（五分）、萸肉（即山茱萸，二钱）、线胶（即鹿角胶或阿胶丝，二钱）、五味子（一钱五分）、淡菜（二钱）、湖莲（三钱）、芡实（二钱）。
张某（十八岁），面色萎黄。无梦而遗精泄精。左侧脉象虚而数。此证属于湿热下注。治疗原则与固涩法不同。
处方：川萆薢（三钱）、湖莲（三钱）、茯苓（三钱）、炒黄柏（一钱）、山药（二钱）、泽泻（一钱）、远志（一钱）。
Mr. Su (40 years old) suffers from cough and hoarseness. Prevention of Lung Withering (Fei Wei, a chronic wasting disease of the lung characterized by cough and expectoration of profuse sticky sputum or blood-tinged saliva) is advised.
Prescription: Chuan Shihu (Dendrobii Officinalis Caulis, 3 qian), Chao Biandou (Faba Seed, stir-fried, 5 qian), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood, 2 qian), Beishashen (Glehniae Radix, 1.5 qian), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, 3 qian), Nanzao (Jujube Fruit, 3 qian), Yuzhu (Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma, 2 qian).
Mr. Wei suffers from cough due to Winter-Warmth pathogen. He frequently expectorates saliva and phlegm, cannot drink much water, and has very poor appetite. This condition belongs to Lung Withering (Fei Wei). We tentatively employ the method of Sweet and Mild (Gan Huan) treatment, addressing the pattern where pathogenic factors are few and deficiency is predominant.
Prescription: Huangqi (Astragali Radix, honey-fried, 3 qian), Baiji (Bletillae Rhizoma, 2 qian), Bai Baihe (Lilii Bulbus, 3 qian), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 1.5 qian), Nanzao (Jujube Fruit, 3 qian), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, 2 qian), Sheng Yiren (Coicis Semen, raw, 3 qian), Zhigancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 0.4 qian).
Mr. Dai suffers from stagnation in the collaterals without firmness. The Liver meridian distributes along the hypochondrium; there is choking cough, counterflow qi, and stagnant blood stasis. The left pulse has already calmed down, but the right pulse is not yet harmonious. This indicates the meaning of collateral deficiency leading to stagnation. We propose nourishing Yin and harmonizing Yang, assisted by promoting the circulation of the collaterals.
Prescription: Yuan Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, original processed, 4 qian), Xi Dangshen (Codonopsis Radix, western variety, 2 qian), Jianlian (Nelumbinis Semen, heart removed, 2 qian), Zhen Chuanbei (Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, genuine Sichuan type, 2 qian), Chen Ejiao (Asini Corii Colla, aged, stir-fried with clam powder, 2 qian), Miren (Coicis Semen, 2 qian), Xuanfuhua (Inulae Flos, 1 qian), Yun Fushen (Poria with Hostwood, cloud variety, 2 qian).
Subsequent prescription: Renshen (Ginseng Radix, decocted separately and taken with the main decoction, 0.5 qian), Chen Ejiao (Asini Corii Colla, aged, melted separately and taken with the main decoction, 2 qian), Zaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, stir-fried until scorched and ground, 3 qian), Yuan Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, original processed, 4 qian), Da Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, large white peony root, 1.5 qian), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood, 2 qian), Jian Maidong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, selected, 1.5 qian).
Mr. Jiang (23 years old) experiences spermatorrhea without dreams. He is awake more than he sleeps. This is because the Shaoyin (Kidney/Heart) fails to govern storage and gathering.
Prescription: Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, 4 qian), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, 0.5 qian), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 2 qian), Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Oötheca, 2 qian), Hulian (Nelumbinis Semen, lake lotus seed, 3 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Baiziren (Biota Semen, 3 qian), Qianshi (Euryales Semen, 2 qian).
Mr. Xu (41 years old) suffers from chaotic and numerous dreams. Spermatorrhea and seminal emission occur frequently. As a person engaged in business and labor, his spirit is disturbed and heart fire is moved, causing Ministerial Fire (Xiang Huo) to follow suit. We propose using shell-type substances to submerge and anchor [the floating yang], and rich/heavy flavors to fill and tonify [the essence].
Prescription: Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, 4 qian), Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, abdominal plate, 5 qian), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, 0.5 qian), Yurou (Corni Fructus, 2 qian), Xianjiao (Gelatinous substance, thread-like, 2 qian), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus, 1.5 qian), Dancai (Mytilus edulis, 2 qian), Hulian (Nelumbinis Semen, lake lotus seed, 3 qian), Qianshi (Euryales Semen, 2 qian).
Mr. Zhang (18 years old) has a sallow complexion. He experiences spermatorrhea without dreams. The left pulse is deficient and rapid. This condition belongs to Damp-Heat pouring downward. The treatment differs from that of astringent methods.
Prescription: Chuan Bixie (Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma, 3 qian), Hulian (Nelumbinis Semen, lake lotus seed, 3 qian), Fuling (Poria, 3 qian), Chao Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried, 1 qian), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 2 qian), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 1 qian), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, 1 qian).
