Hui Jue (Roundworms causing cold extremities) belongs to the Jueyin disease. The patient has a pre-existing internal cold condition. If sweating methods are wrongly applied, or if fever persists after sweating and sweating is repeated, it leads to deficiency-cold in the Stomach. Symptoms include hunger without desire to eat; upon eating, roundworms are vomited. The patient experiences alternating periods of calmness and irritability because the worms move up and down intermittently. When worms smell food odor, they emerge, hence vomiting occurs immediately after eating. For treating Hui Jue, Li Zhong Wan (Regulate the Middle Pill) should be used first, followed by Wu Mei Wan (Mume Pill). If purgatives are wrongly applied leading to unceasing diarrhea, Si Ni Tang (Frigid Extremities Decoction) should be used.
Hu Huo (Fox and Delusion diseases) and Shi (Dampness/Chronic ulcerative conditions caused by parasites) are both parasitic diseases. Due to heat in the abdomen and insufficient food intake, the intestines and stomach become empty, allowing three types of intestinal worms to seek food by consuming the five Zang organs. Symptoms include heaviness in the four limbs, aversion to the smell of food, silence with drowsiness but inability to close the eyes, teeth grinding, sallow complexion, and frequent changes in color at the glabella between red, white, and black. Worms eroding the lower part (genitals/anus) constitute "Hu" (Fox), characterized by sores on the lower lip and dry throat. Worms eroding the upper part (internal organs/mouth) constitute "Huo" (Delusion), characterized by sores on the upper lip and hoarseness. For treating Hu and Shi, Tao Ren Tang (Peach Kernel Decoction), Huang Lian Xi Jiao Tang (Coptis and Rhinoceros Horn Decoction), and Xiong Huang Rui San (Realgar Powder) can be commonly used. For those with Yang deficiency, Jin Ye Dan (Golden Fluid Pill) is used. In Jueyin disease, Xiao Ke (Wasting-thirst) occurs, Qi rushes upward to the heart, there is hunger without desire to eat, and vomiting of roundworms upon eating. This is termed Stomach Cold, yet accompanied by Wasting-thirst symptoms. This is because Heat is in the Upper Jiao, while only Cold exists in the Middle Jiao without Heat. Additionally, for the syndrome of difficult defecation, Li Zhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction) combined with Da Huang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) and a small amount of honey to induce mild laxation is used.
Bai He Bing (Lily Disease) arises because all vessels share one source, affecting the entire body, rendering the concept of meridian transmission sequence irrelevant. It develops after severe illness or consumptive fatigue due to disharmony of the Zang-Fu organs. Its presentation resembles chills but lacks true aversion to cold; resembles fever but lacks true heat; desires to eat but cannot; desires to lie down but cannot rest comfortably; desires to walk but cannot move; bitter taste in the mouth; dark yellow urine; and immediate vomiting or diarrhea after taking medication. The pulse is slightly rapid. If headache occurs after urination, recovery takes sixty days; if headache is accompanied by slight shivering and aversion to cold, recovery takes forty days; if urination brings relief but only dizziness remains, recovery takes twenty days. Bai He Zhi Mu Tang (Lily and Anemarrhena Decoction), Bai He Di Huang Tang (Lily and Rehmannia Decoction), Hua Shi Dai Zhe Tang (Talcum and Hematite Decoction), Ji Zi Tang (Egg Yolk Decoction), and Bai He Xi Fang (Lily Bath Formula) may be selected for treatment.
