Wind pathogen damages Wei Qi (Defensive Qi), Dampness flows into the joints, Wind and Dampness contend with each other, disturbing the meridians. Therefore, it primarily treats various wind-bi syndromes affecting the whole body's bones and joints. When Wind predominates, Wei Qi fails to secure the exterior, resulting in sweating, shortness of breath, aversion to wind, and reluctance to remove clothing; when Dampness predominates, Water Qi fails to circulate, leading to difficult urination or slight bodily swelling. Therefore, Aconite Root is used to dispel dampness and warm the meridians, Cinnamon Twig to dispel wind and harmonize Ying (Nutritive) Qi, Atractylodes Rhizome to dispel dampness and solidify Wei Qi, and Licorice Root to assist the other herbs in achieving both astringent and dispersing effects.
