Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, San Liang) Shaoyao (Peony Root, Liu Liang, washed with wine) Gancao (Licorice Root, Er Liang, honey-fried) Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, San Liang, sliced) Dazao (Jujube, Twelve Pieces, torn open) Houpo (Magnolia Bark, San Liang, honey-fried) Xingren (Apricot Seed, Fifty Pieces, skin and tip removed)
Take the above seven herbs, add seven sheng of water, decoct over a gentle fire until three sheng remain, remove the dregs, and take one sheng when the temperature is suitable. If sweating occurs after one dose and the illness resolves, discontinue subsequent doses.
For Taiyang disease (Disease of the Taiyang channel) where inappropriate purgation leads to slight wheezing and a rapid pulse, this decoction is appropriate. However, if Yangming disease (Disease of the Yangming channel) undergoes inappropriate purgation resulting in slight wheezing and discomfort in the chest and diaphragm, it belongs to the Xiaoxianxiong Syndrome (Minor Trapped-Phlegm Pattern).
