False Heat Syndrome: Although the mouth feels thirsty, the thirst is not intense; although the tongue surface is dry, it is not parched, and even if dry, there are no prickles or cracks. The prescription is as follows:
* Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) [3 qian]
* Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) [3 qian]
* Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) [3 qian]
* Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum) [3 qian]
* Fuling (Poria) [3 qian]
* Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) [2 qian]
* Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) [2 qian]
* Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) [1 qian]
* Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) [3 fen]
Decoct in water and take orally. The brilliance of this prescription lies in using Huanglian to enter the Heart Palace, assisted by Zhizi, striking directly like a raised sword so that no pathogenic factor remains undispersed; Chaihu and Baishao cut off the enemy's supply lines; Banxia and Zhike eliminate the remaining remnants. Once the central region is pacified, the four corners return without fighting. However, since the fire energy is located in the center, if the method is not applied correctly, the rebel forces will expand further and re-enter. Furthermore, Changpu is acrid and hot; taking it while the decoction is hot aligns with its nature, preventing opposition and instead promoting mutual assistance.
False Cold Syndrome: The hands and feet are cold, yet sometimes become warm; cold extremities (Jue Ni) accompanied by body tremors, but not excessively severe; sometimes calm, sometimes convulsing. The prescription is as follows:
* Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) [1 qian]
* Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) [1 qian]
* Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) [3 qian]
* Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) [5 qian]
* Zhu Danzhi (Porci Bile) [half unit]
* Kucaizhi (Juice of Bitter Vegetables) [3 spoons]
First, decoct the herbs in two bowls of water. After cooking, place the medicine and vessel into cold water to cool them down rapidly. Then add the bile juice and vegetable juice, mix well, and take in one dose. The prescription consists entirely of hot-natured herbs. If taken improperly, it will inevitably cause deficient fire to rush upward, leading to vomiting of the medicine. Therefore, hot herbs must be taken when cool, which already conforms to their nature. Moreover, the bitterness of the two juices aids in descending, deceiving the false defense mechanisms.
If the exterior of the body is cold while the interior has blazing fire, presenting alternating chills and fever with incessant shivering, this is True Heat manifesting as False Cold to deceive observers. The treatment should employ Sanhuang Tang (Three-Yellow Decoction) added with Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) and Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), taken while hot. Additionally, splash well water on the heart region twenty to thirty times. The internal heat will cease naturally, and the external shivering will disappear. Subsequently, use Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), and Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), each 2 liang, decocted in water for the patient to drink freely. Afterward, the condition will not worsen again.
