For pregnant women suffering from malaria (Malaria), decoctions such as Baihu Tang (White Tiger Decoction), Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), and Chaihu Yinzi (Bupleurum Drink) can be used. If the stool is dry and hard, Dachaihu San (Major Bupleurum Powder) may be applied; if the stool is slightly loose, strong emetic or purgative methods should not be used, lest they damage the fetus. The *Neijing* states: "Summer injury by heat (Heat), autumn must suffer from malaria."
For pregnant women suffering from Shanghan (Cold Damage), Shiqi (Seasonal Qi pathogens), Wenyi (Warm Epidemic), presenting with headache (Headache) and body fever (Fever), Shengma Tang (Cimicifugae Decoction) one liang can be used. Add half a bowl of water, increase the decoction dosage, filter out the dregs, and divide into two doses. Take the first dose to induce vomiting, and the second dose will not cause vomiting. Subsequently, use long-flowing water with fresh ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and jujube (Jujubae Fructus) to decoct Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) and drink it while warm. When sweat is thoroughly released, the headache stops immediately.
For pregnant women whose bodies feel heavy and who become aphonic (Aphonia) unable to speak in the ninth month, this is due to the disconnection of the collateral vessels of the bladder (Bladder). Thus, speech cannot be produced. The Classics state: "No treatment is needed." Although this theory exists, Yuzhu San (Jade Candle Powder) two liang can be decocted with one bowl of water until reduced to 70%, filtered, cooled, and mixed with a little honey. Sip occasionally. This causes Heart Fire (Heart-Fire) to descend and Lung Metal (Lung-Metal) to clear naturally, thereby enabling speech.
When a pregnant woman approaches the difficult month (term), Yiyuan San (Beneficial Origin Powder) can be adjusted with long-flowing water and taken three times daily to facilitate easy delivery. Postpartum, she will naturally avoid all deficiencies, heat, and disharmony of Qi and Blood (Qi-Blood Disharmony). However, it should not be taken before the term arrives because Talcum (Talcum) has the property of slipping the fetus.
Regarding pediatric Meilian (Eyebrow Fungus), when located on the face it is called Meilian, on the ear it is called Zhe'er, and on the foot it is called Xue-xuan (Boot Ringworm). These three names are erroneous. The *Neijing* states: "All pain, itching, sores, and ulcers belong to Heart Fire." This results from excessive Heat-Fire of the Heart. Acupuncture (Acupuncture) can be used to prick and bleed. If one pricking does not heal, prick again; after two pricks, it will surely heal. The *Neijing* says: "For blood excess (Blood Excess), it is appropriate to drain it." Draining means breaking the blood stagnation. For Meilian, medicinal applications should not be used for topical dressing. Such sores are often itchy, causing the child to scratch; if medicine enters the eyes, vision will be damaged.
Regarding pediatric Yagan (Gum Rot), Yagan refers to dental caries (Dental Caries). Caries here refers to the rotting of the gums. The upper and lower teeth belong to the Hand-Yangming and Foot-Yangming meridians. It may be caused by accumulated Heat internally, or by ingesting highly toxic substances like Calomel (Calomel) or Croton Seed (Crotonis Fructus). The toxins enter the intestines and stomach, where milk and food cannot overcome them. The toxic vapors follow the meridians upward to the gums. Since the gum margins and interdental spaces are tender and thin, they suffer harm. This can be treated with Muxiang Yuxianzi (Musk Jade Thread). The nursing mother should take Huanglian Jiedu Tang (Coptis Decoction for Resolving Toxicity) once before bedtime, and the Ygan disease will heal.
