The initial presentation of rash (Zhen) invariably begins with facial heat, swollen cheeks, red eyes with red eyelids, yawning, restlessness and oppression, alternating chills and fever, coughing, sneezing, slightly cold feet, excessive sleepiness, and惊悸 (palpitations/fright). Additionally, manifestations of sores and rashes may appear, such as pustules, small red spots, or wind-weals (Yin Zhen). Although these three types differ, why do they all exhibit the aforementioned symptoms before eruption? This is because these conditions arise from Tai Yang Cold Water Qi rising from below the right kidney, scorching the left kidney. The Cold Water of Foot Tai Yang Bladder ascends along the spine, reverses upwards to the head, descends to the forehead, and reverses into Hand Tai Yang Bing Fire, preventing its normal transmission and causing it to reverse onto the face, thus manifesting these symptoms. This occurs because flourishing Gui Water (Kidney Water) overcomes Bing and Ding Fire (Heart and Small Intestine Fire). All pathologies result from the reversal of Cold Water. Physicians must understand this principle before administering medication.
The Bao Gong (Uterus/Womb), also known as Chi Gong, Dan Tian, and Ming Men (Gate of Life), serves as the repository for essence and transformation in men, and the seat for conception in women. It is the source of generation and transformation, belonging to none of the Five Elements, nor strictly Water or Fire; it is a unique name of Heaven and Earth, symbolizing Kun Earth generating all things. At the beginning of human formation, the Blood Sea becomes pure. On days one and two, Jing (Essence) surpasses Blood, resulting in a male. On days three, four, and five, Blood vessels become vigorous, but Jing cannot surpass Blood, resulting in a female. These two interact and generate life prior to the body, called "Shen" (Spirit) and also "Jing" (Essence). From the perspectives of Daoism and Buddhism, this refers to the original nature. During the ten months in the womb, the fetus receives Yang Qi through the mother's respiration, growing and nourishing Jing, Qi, and Shen. When hungry, it consumes the mother's blood; when thirsty, it drinks the mother's blood. As days pass, skin, flesh, bones, tendons, blood vessels, form, and Qi all mature. Upon birth after ten months, there remains evil blood in the mouth. With the first cry, upon inhalation, this evil blood descends and returns to the Ming Men and Bao Gong, lodging in a corner, lying dormant without erupting. Until internal injury from milk and food causes Damp-Heat Qi to flow downward, combining with the Two Fires in the Kidneys to attack each other. This leads to Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) failing to follow its proper course, reversing into the muscle layers, causing the evil blood to erupt. All rashes originate from the flourishing Water of the Bladder. After ulceration, healing tissue returns to Yang Ming. Thus, the recurring symptoms are due to the flourishing of Foot Tai Yang and the Bladder overcoming Bing (Small Intestine). Initial eruptions appear on the face, ultimately returning to Yang Ming muscle layers where heat transforms into pus. If the Two Fires become excessively vigorous and overcome Cold Water, eruptions occur all over the body. This results from transmission changes originating in Foot Tai Yang. One should disperse external Cold Evil to dissipate it, and internally purge the Two Fires to prevent their mutual attack, allowing Dampness to ascend and return to its proper position. Recovery can be achieved in one or two doses, ensuring no further recurrence. This is the method of the *Nei Jing* (Inner Canon); readers should examine it carefully.
