To treat symptoms, refer to the "guiding methods" (Tiao Yin) mentioned below and flexibly add or subtract ingredients according to specific conditions; the effect is indescribably wonderful. Use Jinwen Sichuan Rhubarb (Dahuang, 大黄), quantity unrestricted. Soak in rice washing water (Migan Shui, 米泔水) overnight, remove the coarse skin, dry in the sun, and grind into a fine powder for use. For external preparation, use aged rice vinegar (Chen Mi Cu, 陈米醋), heat appropriately until thick and sticky. Gradually add the Rhubarb powder while stirring continuously until extremely uniform. Store in porcelain vessels, seal with paper paste to prevent evaporation. When using, measure the amount of deficiency or excess and severity of the patient's condition, and mix it into Wu Jin San (Black Gold Powder, 乌金散) for oral administration.
For patients with robust constitution and excess pathogenic factors, the dosage should be less than half the size of a bullet pellet, gradually decreasing. Alternatively, prepare as ointment pills: one size similar to a longan seed, one similar to an Euryale Seed (Qianshi, 芡实), and one similar to a Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit (Zaojiao, 皂角). Dry in the shade and store tightly sealed in porcelain. Depending on the patient's size, take one pill, let the patient chew it thoroughly, and swallow with Wu Jin San.
For postpartum internal heat, lochia retention causing pain (commonly known as "Child Pillow Pain", Er Zhen Tong, 儿枕痛), and constipation or fecal impaction, soak one pill in Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction, 四物汤) and administer. If chills and fever resembling malaria occur, decoct Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction, 小柴胡汤), soak a large pill in it, and administer. If ineffective, repeat the dose without causing nausea, vomiting of sour fluid, facial edema, hypochondriac pain, or weakness in movement.
For postpartum bilateral temporal headache, yawning, palpitations, shortness of breath, emaciation of limbs, and loss of appetite, administer with warm wine. For postpartum blood wind causing body heat, numbness of hands and feet, and pain in all joints, administer with rice soup.
For postpartum visual darkness, blood vertigo, blood heat, thirst, restlessness, delirium as if seeing spirits, and unconsciousness, administer with strongly decocted Bo Ye Tang (Mint Decoction, 薄荷汤), or alternatively with equal parts of fresh urine from a healthy child (Tong Bian, 童便) and Mint Decoction.
For postpartum greasy face, red complexion, five-palm heat, or formation of blood stasis clumps causing colic in the navel and abdomen, intermittent chills and fever, and cold sweating, administer with equal parts of yellow wine and fresh urine from a healthy child, or alternatively with Mint Decoction.
For postpartum hair residue and incomplete lochia discharge, stagnation in the abdomen and navel causing stabbing pain, and evil substances rushing up to the chest and heart causing fullness and oppression, administer with equal parts of fresh urine from a healthy child and yellow wine.
For postpartum cases within one month where blood and qi are blocked, causing cough, weakness in four limbs, spontaneous sweating upon falling asleep, and irregular menstruation, if left untreated for a long time, it may develop into Gu Zheng Zhai Ji (Bone-steaming Tuberculosis/Consumption Disease, 骨蒸瘵疾). Administer with equal parts of fresh urine from a healthy child and yellow wine.
For postpartum epistaxis, dry mouth, and black tongue, administer with fresh urine from a healthy child and yellow wine.
For postpartum obstruction of both urination and defecation, irritability, and bitter taste in the mouth, administer with natural juice of Bo He (Mint, 薄荷). If unavailable, administer with strongly decocted Mint Decoction.
For postpartum red and white dysentery, administer with aged rice soup.
For postpartum leakage of bloody fluids, administer with Jujube Soup (Zao Tang,
For postpartum red and white leukorrhea, administer with Jiao Ai Tang (Collagen and Mugwort Decoction,
For postpartum metrorrhagia or metrorrhesis, administer with Glutinous Rice Soup (Nuomi Tang,
For postpartum breast distension and pain, or if an abscess has formed, crush the ointment with water and apply to the breast; self-healing will occur after one night.
Yi Gan San (Liver-Calming Powder, 抑肝散): Treats widows or women living in isolation due to yin excess, presenting with chills and fever resembling malaria that persists for a long time, eventually leading to consumption disease.

To treat a woman who gives birth to a child that cannot make a sound, termed "Meng Sheng" (Dream Birth, 梦生), which laypeople often do not know how to save, expressing deep pity. In such cases henceforth, do not cut the umbilical cord immediately. Instead, roast the placenta (Bao Yi, 胞衣) over fire so that its warmth enters the infant's abdomen. Then, take a cat, wrap its head and feet in a green cloth bag, and have a skilled woman hold the cat's head. Bite through the cat's ear forcefully near the infant's ear. The cat will cry out loudly, and the infant will awaken, open its mouth, make a sound, and thus survive.
Another method: If an infant does not cry and has faint breath due to difficult labor or breech presentation, immediately breathe your vital qi (Zhen Qi, 真气) into the infant from the biological parents. This can also revive the infant. Both methods are empirically verified.
