Physicians of ancient and modern times have discussed prescriptions in great numbers. Their errors lie in that when numerous, they are miscellaneous and imprecise; when few, they are incomplete and omit details. Readers cannot help but feel regret. In my leisure time, I have perused various books, collected excellent methods for preventive care and verified famous prescriptions, incorporated my own insights, distinguished differences between seasons and regions (North and South), and weighed the appropriateness of severity and urgency. I compiled them into two volumes named *Yangsheng Leyao* (Essentials of Health Preservation), entrusted them to printers for dissemination throughout the world. Perhaps when diseases are about to manifest, one can prevent them before they take shape; or if diseases arise suddenly and doctors are unavailable, following these methods may certainly provide some assistance. If one says the Dao lies herein, how dare I, Lun, claim such credit? I respectfully inform you.
