The Yin Qiao Mai (Yin Heel Vessel) also originates from the middle of the heel. It is a collateral branch of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, ascending along the medial malleolus, following the medial aspect of the thigh into the chest and abdomen, rising to the throat, and terminating at Jingming (BL1).
[Note] The Yin Qiao Mai also originates from the middle of the heel. Branching from the collateral of the Foot-Shaoyin Meridian at the point Rangu (KI2), it ascends to connect with the medial malleolus, follows the medial thigh, enters the chest and abdomen, rises to the throat and Jingming (BL1), and also intersects with the Taiyang Meridian.
The Yin Qiao Mai originates at Rangu (KI2), ascending through Zhaohai (KI6) and Jiaoxin (KI8). These three points originally belong to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, and finally connect at Jingming (BL1) of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian.
The Yin Qiao Mai originates from the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian; locate Rangu (KI2) anterior to the medial malleolus on the foot. One cun below the medial malleolus in the depression is Zhaohai (KI6); two cun above the medial malleolus is Jiaoxin (KI8). At the lateral side of the inner canthus, in the depression, lies Jingming (BL1), which is very distinct.
[Note] The Yin Qiao Mai, because it travels along the Yin meridians, is a collateral branch of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. It originates from the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, in the depression anterior to the medial malleolus below the large bone, which is the point Rangu (KI2). From Rangu, it follows one cun below the medial malleolus, where Zhaohai (KI6) is located. From Zhaohai, bypassing Taixi (KI3), it ascends directly to Jiaoxin (KI8), two cun above the medial malleolus. From Jiaoxin, it ascends along the medial thigh, enters the yin region, ascends through the interior of the chest to the Supraclavicular Fossa (Quepen), emerges anterior to Renying (ST9), enters beside the nose, and belongs to the depression at the lateral side of the inner canthus, the point Jingming (BL1). It merges with the Taiyang and Yang Qiao Mai vessels. Ascending, their Qi moves together and returns, serving the function of moistening the eyes. Thus, it is known that if the Qi of the Yin Qiao Mai does not flourish together with the Qi of the Yang Qiao Mai in the eyes, the eyes cannot close. This is the pathway of the Yin Qiao Mai.
Nan Jing (Classic of Difficult Issues), Chapter 28, states: The Yang Wei Mai (Yang Linking Vessel) and Yin Wei Mai (Yin Linking Vessel) link and network the body. When Qi and Blood overflow and accumulate, unable to circulate in a ring, they pour into and irrigate all the meridians. Therefore, the Yang Wei Mai originates from the meeting point of all Yang meridians, and the Yin Wei Mai originates from the intersection of all Yin meridians.
The Yang Wei Mai originates from the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, at Jinmen (BL63) below the lateral malleolus. It travels along the back, shoulders, neck, face, and head, linking all Yang meridians and meeting at the Du Mai (Governing Vessel).
[Note] The Yang Wei Mai originates from Jinmen (BL63) below the lateral malleolus of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. From the fibula, the lateral back, scapula, neck, face, and head posteriorly to Yamen (GV15), it links all Yang meridians and meets at the Du Mai (Governing Vessel).
