颈上长一大庖，不断增长。脉沉涩而数，认系肝经郁热，似瘘瘤变相。
海藻二钱，青皮钱半，莪术钱半，生地二钱，全虫四只，刺蒺藜钱半，龟板三钱，令服四剂，并嘱常食海蜇皮（酱油、醋拌食）。
服药四剂，庖已消。令再服四剂，以固疗效。
（3）肾痈
男，23岁
肾囊肿烂，睾丸外露，痛少痒多，臭气难闻，黄水透湿裤裆。面黄肌瘦，六脉俱软，断为肾痈。
紫苏叶五钱，研末。先以葱白、蛇床子煎水薰洗后，再将苏叶末掺患处。后用鲜荷叶一张，将肾囊包好。急服：
川连三钱、黄芩二钱，川通一钱，甘草钱半，当归二钱，金银花三钱
（4）走马牙疳
男，4岁
面色暗黄，唇紫色，啼哭不止，其父告以痘后牙痛，且脱落牙齿两个。指纹过气关，呈暗紫色。口内臭气难闻，牙龈腐烂，带黑色，当令急用韭菜汁和鲜扁蓄捣汁擦牙床，外敷干姜末，南枣、白枯矾一钱，放在牙床上，再用末药掺上（人中白一钱，冰片五分，元寸一分，煅铜绿八分研末），另以
元参二钱，银花三钱，连翘一钱，赤芍一钱，胡连一钱，生地一钱。服一星期，病告愈。
（5）鱼骨卡喉
女，年未详
行将分娩，忽然鱼骨卡喉，不能纳食，叫喊不停，举家失措，向我问方，嘱速用
后到南货点买青果二十多个，去肉，磨水服下，不到一小时，痛止。又令取猫儿涎灌下，大效。
（6）赤火流丹
女，30岁
砍柴受热归，即发烧热，满面红赤带亮，直趋颈下，双手拂风取凉，心中发烧，夜不安枕。寸脉浮大，舌绛唇绛而焦。断为赤火流丹，非风热湿毒。嘱用：
井底泥调匀，以鸭毛刷而上，须自颈上刷至面上，不能顺刷防阴凉下走。刷一处，须留一孔不刷。另用：
莲子心二钱，竹叶卷心一钱，连翘心二钱，原寸冬二钱，鲜生地二钱，丹皮二钱，绿豆衣二钱，芦根二钱，鲜茅根一仔
服三剂，面上发痒，红而不亮，颈下不红。知有效，嘱急购公蟹一、二只，取其黄刷上。若无蟹，则寻港内之小蟹，将蟹捣烂，取其水涂上，不用井底泥。前方再服二包，可收全效。若红未退净，可用杀猪盆内毛上之皮膜煎水洗面部及颈项，颈面忌水七日，悉如上法，获全效。
右脚夹肿痛无头，日夜号哭。余友吴医，湖北人，擅长外科，与我在患者家坐（患者是我师弟），顺便请吴察之。吴用手摸其腿夹，问患者痛否？答以不甚痛。又问何故哭？答以胀得难过。吴云“三日包好”。即拟方：
泡姜四两，当归四两，甘草四两，银花四两，嘱服四包，服毕，胀痛若失，腿夹亦无何迹象。
（8）颈后疽
男，年未详
颈后生一疖，日夜叫喊，人皆认作对口疮。延吴治疗，吴以为部位不对，乃是疽，不是对口疮，云两日可好。开方：
令服两剂。其妻流泪曰：“家无分文，药从何来？”吴即从衣袋掏出大票四张，言明不需归还，令速检药。照服两剂，颈后疖子已消，无什痛苦。
（9）乳部流注
女，年未详
奶部溃烂三、四年，胸口血水流不止，苍蝇满堆，暑天不离棉衣。服药百余包，未见何效。余介绍吴医治疗，吴察之曰：“不是乳痈，是流注，乃气血大虚，不能相顾，酿成溃裂。此症可延十年，而人不死。”拟方：
甲珠四两，当归四两，北芪四两，银花四两，甘草四两，熟地四两，台党四两
嘱服四十剂，不能少一剂。同时，买阳和膏一张贴上，切勿打开看，必待其自落。如落下，即换贴一张。患者丈夫视药方，面有难色。吴会意云：“此药倘然坏事，宁愿赔偿药价，永断江西之路。”遂遵其嘱，大胆照检，用锅煎药。每剂煎成四大碗，分作四服，一日服完。
服过十剂，已不穿棉衣，不畏风寒。再服十剂，饭量增加一碗，且可下河洗衣。其见服药有效，令乃夫下乡访吴，告知情况。吴嘱耐心再服，服至三十四剂时，吴定亲来料理。但服至三十剂，其夫揭开膏药一看，疖上已长新肉，乃鲜红色。吴按约来，患者云曾揭开膏药，吴责之。因新肌肉未长皮，如揭开见风，必然紧缩。即令寻壁钱贴上，外以阳和膏掩盖。于方内去北芪、台党，加力参四钱，海螵蛸四钱，再服十剂，自然结疤，切忌冷食。后果应其言。
（10）左足击伤
男，年未详
下马时踏凳，击伤左足，登时不能行走，抬回家中，经伤外科数人治疗，不能消肿，日夜号叫。某医云“十日包好”，索银百元。其家云只求伤好，百元亦可拿。经吃药推拿，毫无改进，饮食反而减少。后延吴诊之，吴以十日内包走路，不取分文。拟方：
嘱其放心服至足能下床，手揣不痛时方停药。服至四剂，能下床行走。服至十包，完全复元矣。
以上七至十案，皆余亲眼所见，录此供参考研究。
三、妇科
1、调经一法
30岁
自述屡孕屡堕，曾产三脱未养。六脉沉迟不一，唇、舌形色均正常。询已往堕胎情况，云两月或三月堕。余以为所堕者不一定是胎，书上有云：“三月如露珠”，何胎之可据？总是教育学经汛不正常耳。处方：
当归、丹参、鸡血膏、醋黄芩、淮山、生地、金钗石斛、续断、杜仲、复盆子、菟丝子、玫瑰花各二钱，川芎钱半，香附三钱，炙草一钱，莲房一个，龙须草一尺煎水后取出，入他药同煎。
此方连服四个月，每月月头月尾各两剂，每次服药后接上吃乌鸡白凤丸各两颗（每月两颗）服药两月后，第三、第四两个月则去龙须草，改用柳树根一仔煎水取出，再入他药同煎，服药后，照样吃乌鸡白凤丸。并嘱下次停药时，切勿亲近，盖所谓“月攘一鸡 则可，日一一鸡则不可”，其如余言，后得一男孩。
2、经下血块不止
43岁
经停两月复来，下血成块，竟达二十日不止。自觉头晕目眩，腹中发烧。脉象沉缓无力，按引血归经法为治。
上桂末、力参须、蒲黄炭、当归、醋炒黄芩、焦白术、鸡血膏各二钱，杭芍（生炒各半）三钱，棉花子（炒断丝）一撮，玫瑰花二钱
服三剂，愈过半，血块已无，腹中已不发烧，头不晕，目不黑，但血未净。我防有滑脱变幻，改用：
力参钱半，肉桂末钱二分，醋炒黄芩二钱，阿胶三钱，鸡血膏二钱，当归二钱，续断二钱，杜仲二钱，棉花子一撮，焦术二钱，白芍（生炒各半）三钱，胎发一团（以皂解汤洗去霉气，布包炖），服四剂，前症若失。
3、经闭蓄水
40岁
孀居。腹大如箕者八月之久，村人疑之，且有闲言，是以抱忿来所求诊。
据云冷天洗被，适逢行经，未避冷水，自下月起，经停未行，迄今已年余。并云其夫在日，每当其经停，即用红糖炒山楂，食之即通。其脉数无力，关部沉细，面色微红，眼胞见浮。该妇时以手擦腰部，云腰觉胀紧，如束带状。每到水边洗衣，即感头晕目眩，不敢久视日光和水光。察其腹，有红■纹，知为湿结胞室，似血分与水分同病，但水蓄为主要。盖水有泛滥性，故满腹平起。血蓄有聚积性，当满腹坚硬。细察病源，乃冰冷水而经闭，况遇日光、水光即感晕眩，此非水而何？法用承气兼导水。
桃仁十三粒，正西庄（水浸兑服）三钱，归尾三钱，商陆三钱，郁金二钱，云苓三钱，泽泻二钱，桂心钱半
服一剂，当夜下水一马桶，天明后叫邻人视之，如米泔色。红而且黄，无杂物，纯是水。再服一剂，下水少许，腹消大半，但觉晕眩，似天旋地转。余思即曾多食山楂，必伤胃气，胃气不能营血，致水血相混，摇郁结膀胱，故非养胃气不可。
金钗石斛二钱，扁豆二钱，杭芍二钱，当归二钱，毕澄茄二钱，白叩仁二钱，于潜术二钱，泽泻钱半，阿胶珠二钱，另用鸡子黄为引。
服后不觉晕眩，腹胀全消，乃嘱其早服补中益气丸，晚服归脾丸。从此恢复康健，全村播为美谈。
4、错经
33岁
身广体胖，每月行经两次。经前两日，少腹即痛，经色红紫夹杂。六脉无甚强弱，寸口弦紧，唇舌色泽正常。两颧鲜红，直透耳根。问其生育，云七年未孕，乃知急求生育。每月经行两次，名曰错经，但错经有偏热偏寒竹分。其寸口脉弦而紧，定有肝热，因胃气未能上营肝血，致愆期错经。治法须分调气调血,照月头月尾服药。
黄芩七两，醋浸三日（不要多醋，以湿透为度），后将黄芩同醋焙干研末，醋拌米糊为丸，共作二十八丸，每日一丸，水酒送下，连续二十八日，吃完为度。另拟一方：
丹参二钱，醋炒黄芩二钱，当归三钱，香附二钱，鸡血膏二钱，煅海螵蛸、玫瑰花、地榆、续断、菟丝子、复盆子各二钱，莲蓬壳（烧存性）一个同煎。此方月头月尾各服两剂共服两月。
按黄芩一味为丸，名芩心丸，冯氏锦囊以此治错经。后数年再晤该妇，其手揣一男孩，喜形于色，盖其月经正常后，即生此孩也。其云生此孩后，每至暑天，脚部浮肿，问我索方，我令服四制香附丸。
5、败血症
50岁
孀居，体胖。年半百而月事未停，色鲜。面赤，目呈寒态，夜睡不安，脉见弦数。此隐欲未遂，热郁肝肾，致成败血，实非一般月经也。乃据冯氏锦囊，处方芩心丸一料。
服后经止。但经常失眠，改用蚕退纸（见方一尺）三张，烧灰，米汤送下，每天服一次，三天服完。
（6）孕妇遗尿
年未详
孕五、六月，遗尿而不自知。其姑问我索方，乃用：
益智仁五钱，炙桑螵蛸五钱，研末，米汤调下，日服两次，每次三钱，以不遗尿为度。果效。
7、怪胎血崩
年未详
怀孕六月，下血滴点不止，夜卧则无血出，其问我是否露胎？余以为露胎病不仅滴点下血，况夜睡无血出，因未敢作露胎论治，乃谢绝处方。
待至八月，腹高大，走路乏力，而血仍下，但饮食劳动如常，均以为无关紧要。直至十四个月，如临盆欲产，稳婆动手，又画符催生，经三日三夜，产出猪核子油样物，无血出，亦无甚疼痛。
一周后，血暴出盈桶，叫我开方，我因不明病因，何敢浪漫？其至省治疗亦无效，血不止，而人事尚清醒。后遇裘姓草药医，云草药乃可救，乃用
早子红（又名倒挂莲）半斤，炖鸡一只，服后血出减少。复以
棕榈子、棉花子（炒断丝）同煎服，竟获全愈。我仿此法治疗类似血崩，亦收良效。
此病我前后未开方，而草药竟得奇效。我将此草药查对，乃是地榆。'据云生长田坳者佳，生长草坪者无力。此方适用持续性血崩，暴下血崩者无效。
8、妊娠呕吐
26岁
终日不食，喜呕，思食冷水果，酸辣味。其家是木商，夫年七十上下，其新纳妇也。其生子刚八阅月，雇乳母喂乳。余诊脉见和平，两寸独盛，舌无甚苔，中心红润有津，满盘无病象，疑之。所谓不食者，不多食也，非完全不食。至于思冷水果，酸辣味，乃气盛肝热。以胃津充润决之，断为胞阻。处以调胃之品试之：
鲜石斛、扁豆衣、玉竹、南沙参各二钱，鲜生地三钱，竹茹钱半。令服三、四包。
33岁
怀孕九月，呕吐不止，某医投承气汤，服后早产，胎儿未死。其夫认定被打下者，故责之。另更医，用吴茱萸、陈皮、砂仁等止呕剂，舌满布灰白，唇焦而白，马似胃府有寒，虽思食，但食人即呕。断其上焦有热，中焦有寒，热与热相斥，故食人即吐。而其久热，胃气不充，又为呕吐之另一因也。
吴茱萸四钱，西党五钱，生姜三钱，大枣五个。嘱服两剂，要冷服，切勿热服。
服一剂，虽不呕，但坐不住。余令榨甘蔗汁一盅，另用黄牛傍晚吃草后，于其喉间扯出一把未吞下之草，迅用阴阳瓦上焙干研末，以甘蔗汁调服。是夜安睡，但仍欲坐无力。
另日复诊，其面色转淡红，脉沉应指。断乃胃阻不升，故起坐无力，此与晕眩不同，必须镇坠升阳益胃。改用：
服两剂，呕止，但精神不振，不思食，但思食鸡、肉、蛋等。盖平素偏喜荤菜美味，空白点须熬煎香味，未进食之先，口即流涎，其平时亦有呕吐。余恍然有悟，断定虫伏胃脘，遂以乌梅丸加减：
吴茱萸二钱，乌梅四个、川椒一钱，雷丸二钱，金铃子二钱，史君子八粒，西党二钱，川连钱半，金钗石斛二钱，大白钱半，陈皮二钱，姜枣各二
服四剂，能起坐，亦能求食，不呕，不吐清水，嘱服香砂六君子丸，每日清晨吞服一钱，并嘱少食美味及香东西，从此遂告全愈。但一年后相骂受气，前恙复发，住院一月。出院后，腹胀如鼓，竟至不治。
30岁
据云常患堕胎病，每当五、六月，呕吐剧烈，食人即吐，必吐净胃中物而后止，而堕胎则每当剧烈呕吐之同时。自云服药不效，欲得一止呕小方。余诊脉，其不允，并云“能治则治，不能治则已”。焦急万分，几乎神经失常。余姑以：
颈部长了一个大脓包，不断增大。脉象沉涩而数，判断为肝经郁热，类似瘘瘤的变证。
海藻二钱，青皮一钱半，莪术一钱半，生地二钱，全蝎四只，刺蒺藜一钱半，龟板三钱，令其服用四剂，并嘱咐常食海蜇皮（用酱油、醋拌食）。
服药四剂后，脓包已消退。令再服四剂，以巩固疗效。
（3）肾痈
男性，23岁
肾脏囊肿溃烂，睾丸外露，疼痛少而瘙痒多，散发难闻臭气，黄水渗出湿透裤裆。面色萎黄，身体消瘦，六脉均软弱无力，诊断为肾痈。
紫苏叶五钱，研成粉末。先用葱白、蛇床子煎水熏洗患处，然后将紫苏叶末撒在患处。后用鲜荷叶一张，将阴囊包裹好。急服：
黄连三钱、黄芩二钱，川通草一钱，甘草一钱半，当归二钱，金银花三钱
服用五剂后，阴囊溃烂好转，仅剩一个小孔，后来用鸡内金研末撒在上面收功。
（4）走马牙疳
男性，4岁
面色暗黄，嘴唇紫色，啼哭不止，其父告知出痘后牙痛，且脱落两颗牙齿。指纹延伸至气关，呈暗紫色。口内散发难闻臭气，牙龈腐烂，带黑色，当令紧急使用韭菜汁和鲜扁蓄捣汁擦拭牙床，外敷干姜末，南枣、白枯矾一钱，放在牙床上，再用药末撒在上面（人中白一钱，冰片五分，元寸一分，煅铜绿八分研末），另用
玄参二钱，银花三钱，连翘一钱，赤芍一钱，胡黄连一钱，生地一钱。服用一个星期，病告痊愈。
（5）鱼骨卡喉
女性，年龄不详
即将分娩，忽然鱼骨卡住喉咙，不能进食，叫喊不停，全家惊慌失措，向我求方，嘱速用
后到南货店买青果二十多个，去肉，磨水服下，不到一小时，疼痛停止。又令取猫儿涎灌下，效果显著。
（6）赤火流丹
女性，30岁

服用三剂后，面部发痒，红而不亮，颈部以下不再发红。知道有效，嘱急购公蟹一、二只，取其蟹黄涂抹。若无蟹，则寻找港内的小蟹，将蟹捣烂，取其汁液涂上，不用井底泥。前方再服两包，可获全效。若红色未退净，可用杀猪盆内毛上之皮膜煎水洗面部及颈部，颈部面部忌水七日，悉如上法，获得全效。

丹参二钱，醋炒黄芩二钱，当归三钱，香附二钱，鸡血膏二钱，煅海螵蛸、玫瑰花、地榆、续断、菟丝子、复盆子各二钱，莲蓬壳（烧存性）一个同煎。此方月头月尾各服两剂共服两月。
按黄芩一味为丸，名芩心丸，冯氏锦囊以此治错经。后数年再晤该妇，其手揣一男孩，喜形于色，盖其月经正常后，即生此孩也。其云生此孩后，每至暑天，脚部浮肿，问我索方，我令服四制香附丸。
5、败血症
50岁
孀居，体胖。年半百而月事未停，色鲜。面赤，目呈寒态，夜睡不安，脉见弦数。此隐欲未遂，热郁肝肾，致成败血，实非一般月经也。乃据冯氏锦囊，处方芩心丸一料。
服后经止。但经常失眠，改用蚕退纸（见方一尺）三张，烧灰，米汤送下，每天服一次，三天服完。
（6）孕妇遗尿
年龄不详
孕五、六月，遗尿而不自知。其姑向我索方，乃用：
益智仁五钱，炙桑螵蛸五钱，研末，米汤调下，日服两次，每次三钱，以不遗尿为度。果效。
7、怪胎血崩
年龄不详
怀孕六月，下血滴点不止，夜卧则无血出，其问我是否露胎？我以为露胎病不仅滴点下血，况夜睡无血出，因未敢作露胎论治，乃谢绝处方。
待至八月，腹高大，走路乏力，而血仍下，但饮食劳动如常，均以为无关紧要。直至十四个月，如临盆欲产，稳婆动手，又画符催生，经三日三夜，产出猪核子油样物，无血出，亦无甚疼痛。
一周后，血暴出盈桶，叫我开方，我因不明病因，何敢浪漫？其至省治疗亦无效，血不止，而人事尚清醒。后遇裘姓草药医，云草药乃可救，乃用
早子红（又名倒挂莲）半斤，炖鸡一只，服后血出减少。复以
棕榈子、棉花子（炒断丝）同煎服，竟获全愈。我仿此法治疗类似血崩，亦收良效。
此病我前后未开方，而草药竟得奇效。我将此草药查对，乃是地榆。'据云生长田坳者佳，生长草坪者无力。此方适用持续性血崩，暴下血崩者无效。
8、妊娠呕吐
26岁
终日不食，喜呕，思食冷水果，酸辣味。其家是木商，夫年七十上下，其新纳妇也。其生子刚八阅月，雇乳母喂乳。余诊脉见和平，两寸独盛，舌无甚苔，中心红润有津，满盘无病象，疑之。所谓不食者，不多食也，非完全不食。至于思冷水果，酸辣味，乃气盛肝热。以胃津充润决之，断为胞阻。处以调胃之品试之：
鲜石斛、扁豆衣、玉竹、南沙参各二钱，鲜生地三钱，竹茹一钱半。令服三、四包。
33岁
怀孕九月，呕吐不止，某医投承气汤，服后早产，胎儿未死。其夫认定被打下者，故责之。另更医，用吴茱萸、陈皮、砂仁等止呕剂，舌满布灰白，唇焦而白，马似胃府有寒，虽思食，但食人即呕。断其上焦有热，中焦有寒，热与热相斥，故食人即吐。而其久热，胃气不充，又为呕吐之另一因也。
吴茱萸四钱，西党五钱，生姜三钱，大枣五个。嘱服两剂，要冷服，切勿热服。
服一剂，虽不呕，但坐不住。我令榨甘蔗汁一盅，另用黄牛傍晚吃草后，于其喉间扯出一把未吞下之草，迅用阴阳瓦上焙干研末，以甘蔗汁调服。是夜安睡，但仍欲坐无力。
另日复诊，其面色转淡红，脉沉应指。断乃胃阻不升，故起坐无力，此与晕眩不同，必须镇坠升阳益胃。改用：
服两剂，呕止，但精神不振，不思食，但思食鸡、肉、蛋等。盖平素偏喜荤菜美味，空白点须熬煎香味，未进食之先，口即流涎，其平时亦有呕吐。我恍然有悟，断定虫伏胃脘，遂以乌梅丸加减：
吴茱萸二钱，乌梅四个、川椒一钱，雷丸二钱，金铃子二钱，史君子八粒，西党二钱，川连一钱半，金钗石斛二钱，大白一钱半，陈皮二钱，姜枣各二
服四剂，能起坐，亦能求食，不呕，不吐清水，嘱服香砂六君子丸，每日清晨吞服一钱，并嘱少食美味及香东西，从此遂告全愈。但一年后相骂受气，前恙复发，住院一月。出院后，腹胀如鼓，竟至不治。
30岁
据云常患堕胎病，每当五、六月，呕吐剧烈，食人即吐，必吐净胃中物而后止，而堕胎则每当剧烈呕吐之同时。自云服药不效，欲得一止呕小方。余诊脉，其不允，并云“能治则治，不能治则已”。焦急万分，几乎神经失常。余姑以：
A large abscess (abscess) grew on the neck, continuously increasing in size. The pulse was deep, choppy, and rapid; it was identified as liver meridian stagnant heat (liver qi stagnation transforming into heat), resembling a variation of a fistula tumor (fistula-like swelling).
Sargassum Herba (Haizao) 2 qian, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Qingpi) 1.5 qian, Curcumae Zedoariae Rhizoma (Ezhu) 1.5 qian, Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Shengdi) 2 qian, Buthus Martensii (Quanchong) 4 pieces, Tribuli Fructus (Cijili) 1.5 qian, Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum (Guiban) 3 qian. Instruct to take four doses, and advise frequent consumption of jellyfish skin (seasoned with soy sauce and vinegar).
After four doses, the abscess subsided. Instructed to take another four doses to consolidate the therapeutic effect.
(3) Kidney Carbuncle (Shen Yong)
Male, 23 years old.
Kidney cyst ulceration with exposed testicles; less pain but more itching; foul odor difficult to bear; yellow fluid exuding and wetting the crotch. Sallow complexion and emaciated body; all six pulses were soft and weak. Diagnosed as Kidney Carbuncle.
Perilla Leaf (Zisuye) 5 qian, ground into powder. First, fumigate and wash the affected area with decoction of Scallion Stem (Congbai) and Cnidii Fructus (Shechuangzi). Then, sprinkle the Perilla Leaf powder onto the lesion. Finally, wrap the scrotum with a fresh lotus leaf. Urgently administer:
Coptidis Rhizoma (Chuanlian) 3 qian, Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin) 2 qian, Tetrastigma Caulis (Chuantong) 1 qian, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) 1.5 qian, Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) 2 qian, Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (Jinyinhua) 3 qian.
After five doses, the scrotal ulceration improved, leaving only a small hole. Later, powdered Endothelium Corneum Gigerii Galli (Jineijin) was applied to achieve healing.
(4) Gangrenous Stomatitis (Zouma Yagan)
Male, 4 years old.
Dark sallow complexion, purple lips, incessant crying. Father reported toothache after smallpox and loss of two teeth. Finger vein extended to the Qi Gate, appearing dark purple. Foul breath, rotting gums with black discoloration. Urgently instructed to use juice of Chinese Chive (Jiucai) mixed with juice of Fresh Polygonum Aviculare (Bianxu) to wipe the gums. Apply dried Ginger Rhizome (Ganjiang) powder externally. Place one qian of Jujube (Nanzao) and White Alum (Baikufan) on the gums, then sprinkle medicated powder above (Alumen Usticum (Renzhongbai) 1 qian, Borax (Bingpian) 5 fen, Natrii Sulfas (Yuancun) 1 fen, Verdigris (Duantonglv) 8 fen, all ground). Additionally administer:
Scrophulariae Radix (Yuanshen) 2 qian, Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (Yinhua) 3 qian, Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao) 1 qian, Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chishao) 1 qian, Coptidis Rhizoma (Hulian) 1 qian, Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Shengdi) 1 qian. After one week, the disease resolved.
(5) Fish Bone Impaction
Female, age unspecified.
Near term of delivery, suddenly experienced fish bone impaction in the throat, unable to eat, screaming incessantly. Family panicked and sought prescription. Instructed to quickly swallow water made from grinding Olive Seed (Ganlanhe); the more, the better.
Later purchased over twenty green olives (Qingguo) from a grocery store, removed the flesh, ground them into water, and ingested it. Pain ceased within an hour. Also instructed to administer saliva from a cat (Maor Xian) orally, yielding significant efficacy.
(6) Erysipelas (Chi Huo Liudan)
Female, 30 years old.
Returned home after heating up while chopping firewood, immediately developed fever. Face was bright red and shiny, spreading down to the neck. Hands waved at wind for cooling; internal sensation of heat; restless sleep at night. Cun pulse was floating and large; tongue and lips were crimson and scorched. Diagnosed as Erysipelas, not caused by wind-heat or damp-toxin. Instructed to use:
Mud from well bottom (Jingdi Ni) mixed evenly, applied with a duck feather brush. Brush must be directed upwards from neck to face; do not brush downwards to prevent cold energy from sinking. Leave one spot unbrushed per section. Additionally administer:
Nelumbinis Plumula (Lianzixin) 2 qian, Bamboo Leaf Heart (Zhuyejuanxin) 1 qian, Forsythiae Fructus Heart (Lianqiaoxin) 2 qian, Ophiopogonis Radix (Yuancundong) 2 qian, Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Xianshengdi) 2 qian, Moutan Cortex (Danpi) 2 qian, Phaseoli Semen Integrum (Lvdouyi) 2 qian, Phragmitis Rhizoma (Lugen) 2 qian, Imperatae Rhizoma (Xianmaogen) 1 bundle.
After three doses, face became itchy, red but not shiny, neck below no longer red. Knowing it was effective, instructed to urgently buy one or two male crabs, extract their bile/yellow, and apply. If no crab available, find small river crabs, crush them, extract juice, and apply instead of well mud. Take two more packs of the previous formula for full effect. If redness persists, boil the membrane from pig hair in a slaughter basin to wash face and neck. Avoid water on face and neck for seven days. Follow this method entirely for full recovery.
(7) Swelling and Pain in Groin without Pain, Male
Right groin swollen and painful without head/abscess, screaming day and night. My friend Dr. Wu, from Hubei, skilled in surgery, sat with me at the patient's home (patient is my junior brother). Dr. Wu palpated the groin, asked if it hurt? Patient replied it did not hurt much. Asked why crying? Replied feeling distended and uncomfortable. Dr. Wu said "cured in three days." Prescribed:
Prepared Ginger (Paojiang) 4 liang, Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) 4 liang, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) 4 liang, Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (Yinhua) 4 liang. Instructed to take four packs. After finishing, distension and pain vanished, no signs remained in the groin.
(8) Carbuncle on Back of Neck
Male, age unspecified.
Boil appeared on back of neck, screaming day and night. People thought it was a carbuncle opposite the mouth (Duikou Chuang). Consulted Dr. Wu. Dr. Wu said location was incorrect; it was a deep abscess (Ju), not Duikou Chuang, predicted cure in two days. Prescribed:
Panzeris Squama (Jiazhu) 1 liang, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) 1 liang, Prepared Ginger (Paojiang) 1 liang, Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) 1 liang, Astragali Radix (Beiqi) 1 liang.
Instructed to take two doses. Wife cried, saying "No money, where to get medicine?" Dr. Wu took out four large bills from pocket, stating no need to repay, urged immediate purchase. After two doses, boil subsided, no pain.
(9) Flowing Abscess in Breast Area
Female, age unspecified.
Breast area ulcerated for 3-4 years, blood flowing from chest uncontrollably, flies swarming, wearing cotton clothes even in summer. Took over hundred packs of medicine with no effect. I introduced Dr. Wu. Dr. Wu examined and said: "Not breast carbuncle (Ruyong), but flowing abscess (Liuzhu). Caused by severe deficiency of qi and blood, unable to support each other, leading to ulceration. This condition can last ten years without death." Prescribed:
Panzeris Squama (Jiazhu) 4 liang, Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) 4 liang, Astragali Radix (Beiqi) 4 liang, Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (Yinhua) 4 liang, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) 4 liang, Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata (Shudi) 4 liang, Codonopsis Radix (Taidang) 4 liang.
Instructed to take forty doses, not a single one less. Simultaneously, apply one patch of Yanghe Paste (Yanghe Gao), do not open to check, wait for it to fall off naturally. If it falls, replace with a new one. Patient's husband looked at prescription with difficulty. Dr. Wu understood and said: "If this medicine fails, I am willing to compensate for the cost and never return to Jiangxi." Husband followed advice, boldly purchased and decocted. Each dose boiled into four large bowls, divided into four servings, taken in one day.
After ten doses, stopped wearing cotton clothes, no fear of wind-cold. After another ten doses, appetite increased by one bowl, able to go to river to wash clothes. Seeing effectiveness, husband visited Dr. Wu in countryside to report. Dr. Wu advised patience, continuing until thirty-four doses, when he would visit personally. However, at thirty doses, husband opened paste to check; new flesh had grown, bright red. Dr. Wu arrived as agreed, reprimanded patient for opening paste. New muscle lacks skin; exposure to wind causes contraction. Instructed to apply Wall Money (Bi Qian - likely a local herb or plaster base) underneath, covered again with Yanghe Paste. Removed Beiqi and Taidang from formula, added Ginseng Radix (Lishen) 4 qian, Sepiae Endoconcha (Haipiaoxiao) 4 qian, take ten more doses for natural scabbing. Strictly avoid cold food. Outcome matched prediction.
(10) Left Foot Injury
Male, age unspecified.
Stepped on stool while dismounting horse, injured left foot, unable to walk immediately, carried home. Treated by several trauma surgeons, swelling did not subside, screaming day and night. One doctor promised cure in ten days, demanded 100 silver dollars. Family agreed to pay if cured. Medication and massage showed no improvement, diet decreased. Consulted Dr. Wu, who promised walking within ten days for free. Prescribed:
Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) 0.5 jin, Astragali Radix (Huangqi) 0.5 jin, Cyathulae Radix (Chuan Niuxi) 0.5 jin, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) 4 liang, Scolopendra (Wugong) 16 pieces.
Instructed to continue taking until able to get out of bed and tender upon touch. After four doses, able to walk out of bed. After ten packs, fully recovered.
Cases 7-10 were witnessed by me personally, recorded here for reference and study.
III. Gynecology
1. Method for Regulating Menstruation
30 years old.
Reports repeated pregnancies ending in miscarriage, delivered three children who did not survive. Six pulses are deep, slow, and irregular. Lips and tongue appearance normal. Asked about past miscarriages, reported occurring at two or three months. I believe what was miscarried may not have been a fetus; texts say "at three months like a dewdrop," so how can we confirm it was a fetus? It is likely just irregular menstruation. Prescription:
Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Danshen), Chicken Blood Paste (Jixuegao), Vinegar-processed Scutellariae Radix (Cu Huangqin), Dioscoreae Rhizoma (Huai Shan), Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Shengdi), Dendrobii Nobile Caulis (Jinchai Shihu), Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan), Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong), Rubi Fructus (Fupenzi), Cuscutae Semen (Tusizi), Rosae Rugosae Flos (Meiguihua) each 2 qian, Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) 1.5 qian, Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu) 3 qian, Honey-fried Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Zhigancao) 1 qian, Nelumbinis Calyx (Lianfang) 1 piece, Desmodii Stemoniferi Herba (Longshucao) 1 chi. Decoct Longshucao first, remove, then add other herbs to decoct together.
Take this formula continuously for four months, two doses at beginning and end of each month. After each dose, take two pills of Wuji Baifeng Wan (Black Chicken White Phoenix Pill). After two months of medication, in the third and fourth months, remove Longshucao, replace with one bundle of Willow Root (Liushu Gen), decoct, remove, then add other herbs. Continue taking Wuji Baifeng Wan. Advise abstinence during next cessation period, as "taking one chicken a month is acceptable, taking one every day is not." Heeded advice, later gave birth to a boy.
2. Unceasing Menstrual Bleeding with Clots
43 years old.
Menstruation stopped for two months, then returned with clots, bleeding continuously for twenty days. Self-reported dizziness and abdominal heat. Pulse deep, slow, and weak. Treated according to method of guiding blood back to its vessel.
Cinnamon Bark Powder (Shangui Mo), Ginseng Radix Tenuifolia Radicula (Lishen Xu), Artemisiae Argyi Folium Carbonisum (Puhuang Tan), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Vinegar-processed Scutellariae Radix (Cu Huangqin), Charred Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Jiao Baizhu), Chicken Blood Paste (Jixuegao) each 2 qian, Paeoniae Radix Alba (Hangshao) (raw and fried half-half) 3 qian, Cottonseed (Mianhuazi) (fried to break fibers) a pinch, Rosae Rugosae Flos (Meiguihua) 2 qian.
After three doses, more than half healed, clots gone, abdominal heat ceased, no dizziness, vision clear, but bleeding not finished. Fearing slipping transformation, changed to:
Ginseng Radix Tenuifolia (Lishen) 1.5 qian, Cinnamomi Cortex Powder (Rougui Mo) 2 fen, Vinegar-processed Scutellariae Radix (Cu Huangqin) 2 qian, Asini Corii Colla (Ejiao) 3 qian, Chicken Blood Paste (Jixuegao) 2 qian, Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) 2 qian, Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan) 2 qian, Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong) 2 qian, Cottonseed (Mianhuazi) a pinch, Charred Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Jiaozhu) 2 qian, Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao) (raw and fried half-half) 3 qian, Human Hair Tuft (Tai Fa) (washed with soap solution to remove moldy smell, wrapped in cloth and stewed). Take four doses, former symptoms disappeared.
3. Amenorrhea with Water Accumulation
40 years old.
Widow. Abdomen enlarged like a winnowing basket for eight months. Villagers suspected her, spread rumors, came seeking diagnosis in anger.
Reported washing quilt in cold weather during menstruation, exposed to cold water. Since next month, menstruation stopped, over a year now. Reported that when husband was alive, whenever menstruation stopped, she ate brown sugar stir-fried hawthorn, which immediately restored flow. Pulse rapid and weak, Guan position deep and thin, complexion slightly red, eyelids puffy. Woman often rubbed waist, saying it felt tight and bound like a belt. When washing clothes by water, felt dizzy, dared not look at sunlight or water reflection. Examined abdomen, saw red striae. Knew it was dampness binding the uterus, resembling simultaneous disease of blood and water levels, but water accumulation is primary. Water has flooding nature, hence flat distension. Blood accumulation has gathering nature, hence hard distension. Carefully examining source, it was cold water causing amenorrhea. Moreover, dizziness upon seeing sunlight/water confirms it is water. Method: Use Chengqi Decoction combined with draining water.
Persicae Semen (Taoren) 13 grains, Zhengxizhuang (soaked in water, mixed and taken) 3 qian, Angelicae Sinensis Radix Tail (Guiwei) 3 qian, Phytolaccae Radix (Shanglu) 3 qian, Curcumae Aromatica Rhizoma (Yujin) 2 qian, Poria (Fuling) 3 qian, Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie) 2 qian, Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin) 1.5 qian.
After one dose, urinated a toilet full that night. Next morning, neighbor confirmed color like rice wash water. Red and yellow, no debris, pure water. Took another dose, urinated slightly, abdomen reduced mostly, but felt dizzy, spinning sensation. I thought excessive hawthorn consumption must have damaged stomach qi. Stomach qi unable to nourish blood, causing water and blood mixing, disturbing bladder. Thus, must nourish stomach qi.
Dendrobii Nobile Caulis (Jinchai Shihu) 2 qian, Dolichoris Semen (Biandou) 2 qian, Paeoniae Radix Alba (Hangshao) 2 qian, Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) 2 qian, Litseae Fructus (Bichengqie) 2 qain, Amomi Fructus Rotundus (Baikou Ren) 2 qian, Atractylodis Rhizoma (Yuqian Zhu) 2 qian, Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie) 1.5 qian, Fried Donkey-hide Gelatin (Ejiao Zhu) 2 qian. Use Egg Yolk (Jizihuang) as guide.
After taking, no dizziness, abdominal distension completely resolved. Advised taking Buzhong Yiqi Wan (Tonify Middle and Boost Qi Pill) in morning, Guipi Wan (Restore the Spleen Pill) at night. Recovered health, praised by whole village.
4. Erratic Menstruation
33 years old.
Broad and fat body, menstruates twice a month. Two days before period, lower abdomen hurts, menstrual color red-purple mixed. Six pulses show little strength difference, Cun position string-tight, lips and tongue color normal. Cheeks bright red, extending to ear roots. Asked about fertility, reported seven years infertility, knowing urgent desire for pregnancy. Menstruating twice a month is called Erratic Menstruation (Cuo Jing), which can be biased towards heat or cold. Cun position string-tight indicates definitely liver heat. Because stomach qi cannot ascend to nourish liver blood, causing delayed erratic menstruation. Treatment must separately regulate qi and blood, taking medicine at beginning and end of month.
Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin) 7 liang, soaked in vinegar for three days (not too much vinegar, just enough to wet through). Then dry-roast Scutellariae with vinegar, grind into powder, mix with vinegar and rice paste to make pills, total 28 pills. One pill daily, taken with water and wine, continuously for 28 days until finished. Additionally prescribe:
Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Danshen) 2 qian, Vinegar-processed Scutellariae Radix (Cu Huangqin) 2 qian, Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) 3 qian, Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu) 2 qian, Chicken Blood Paste (Jixuegao) 2 qian, Calcined Sepiae Endoconcha (Duan Haipiaoxiao), Rosae Rugosae Flos (Meiguihua), Sanguisorbae Radix (Diyu), Dipsaci Radix (Xuduan), Cuscutae Semen (Tusizi), Rubi Fructus (Fupenzi) each 2 qian, Nelumbinis Spadix Shell (Lianpengke) (burnt to retain nature) 1 piece, decoct together. Take two doses at beginning and end of month, total two months.
Note: Scutellariae Radix alone made into pills is named Qin Xin Wan. Feng Shi Jin Nang uses this to treat erratic menstruation. Years later met the woman again, holding a boy, joy on face. After menstruation normalized, she gave birth to this child. She said after giving birth, feet swelled every summer, asked for prescription. I ordered Sizhi Xiangfu Wan (Four-Processed Cyperi Pills).
5. Septicemia
50 years old.
Widow, fat body. Over fifty years old, menstruation still continues, bright color. Red face, eyes appear cold, restless sleep, pulse string-rapid. Hidden desires unfulfilled, heat stagnating in liver and kidney, leading to septic blood (Baixue), truly not general menstruation. Based on Feng Shi Jin Nang, prescribed one dose of Qin Xin Wan.
Menstruation stopped after taking. But frequently insomnia. Changed to Silkworm Cast Skin (Can Tui Zhi) (see formula one chi) 3 sheets, burnt to ash, taken with rice soup, once daily, finished in three days.
(6) Urinary Incontinence in Pregnancy
Age unspecified.
Pregnant five to six months, urinary incontinence without awareness. Mother-in-law sought prescription. Used:

Pregnant nine months, incessant vomiting. One doctor administered Chengqi Decoction, premature birth after taking, fetus alive. Husband believed it was knocked down, blamed doctor. Changed doctor, used Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi), Amomi Fructus (Sharen) etc. anti-emetics. Tongue covered with gray-white coating, lips scorched white. Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu) 4 qian, Codonopsis Radix (Xidang) 5 qian, Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang) 3 qian, Jujubae Fructus (Dazao) 5 pieces. Instructed to take two doses, take cold, do not take hot.
After one dose, no vomiting, but unable to sit still. Instructed to squeeze sugarcane juice one cup. Also take a handful of grass pulled from throat of yellow cow after evening grazing, quickly dry-roast on yin-yang tiles, grind to powder, mix with sugarcane juice. Slept peacefully that night, but still wanted to sit, lacked strength.
Next day follow-up, complexion turned pale red, pulse deep and responsive. Diagnosed stomach obstruction failing to ascend, thus weakness in rising/sitting, different from dizziness. Must suppress descending, raise yang, benefit stomach. Changed to:
