Treats toxic gonorrhea (toxic淋) caused by lues (syphilis), whether in the early stage or chronic phase; if heat signs are present, this formula is effective.
Zhangju Zi (Sunflower Seed, 1 liang, crushed) Yadan Zi (Calotropis Gigantea Fruit, 40 pills, peel removed and kernels broken; do not use damaged ones; swallow whole when taking)
For the above two herbs, decoct Zhangju Zi in water to make one cup of soup, and use it to wash down the Yadan Zi kernels.
Zhangju is commonly known as sunflower; its flowers are good at inducing labor, and its seeds are good at treating lin syndrome (dysuria). A youth from a neighboring village suffered from this condition, with purulent discharge mixed with blood during urination, causing severe pain. After being told to use this formula, he was completely cured after several doses.
Treats toxic gonorrhea accompanied by bloody lin syndrome (hematuria).
Xian Xiaoji Gen (Fresh Cirsii Japonici Radix, 1 liang, washed and finely chopped)
For the above single herb, decoct in water for three to four boils, take the clear liquid in a large teacup, and drink three times a day. If one fears its cold nature, using 6-7 qian per dose is also acceptable.
I once treated a youth suffering from this condition, whose urine contained mixed blood, with blood appearing as threads and clots, interspersed with membranous tissue, causing severe pain and a strong fishy odor. Previous treatments were ineffective. After prescribing this formula, he was completely cured after five consecutive days of administration.
Note: For cases of toxic gonorrhea complicated by bloody lin syndrome, combining Yadan Zi, Sanqi (Notoginseng Root), and Xian Xiaoji Gen yields significant efficacy.
Xiaoji was discussed previously under "Sanxian Yin" (Three Fresh Decoction). There, it was used to treat hematemesis (vomiting blood); here, it is used to treat bloody lin syndrome within toxic gonorrhea. Both applications are highly effective, and its functions actually extend beyond these. A boy of fifteen or sixteen years old developed several nodules below his neck, as large as giant chestnuts, with unchanged skin color, accompanied by fever and pain. Recognizing this as a Yang syndrome, I instructed him to decoct fresh Xiaoji Gen strongly and drink it continuously. The nodules completely disappeared after a few days. This is likely because it excels at eliminating heat-toxin in the blood and resolving stasis to open knots, thus producing such effects.
Treats frequent urination, spermatorrhea, and white turbid discharge, possibly accompanied by painful and difficult urination; pulse is wiry, rapid, and deficient; or accompanied by cough, spontaneous sweating, or deficiency-heat.
Sheng Shanyao (Raw Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 1 liang) Sheng Longgu (Raw Fossilized Bones, 6 qian, finely crushed) Muli (Oyster Shell, 6 qian, finely crushed) Niubang Zi (Arctii Fructus, 3 qian, stir-fried and crushed) Sheng Hangshao (Raw Paeoniae Radix Alba, 4 qian) Fen Gancao (Powdered Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1.5 qian) Sheng Cheqian Zi (Raw Plantaginis Semen, 3 qian, wrapped in cloth)
