窍。当在十一日后,剪破疮顶,出黄白脓者属吉为顺;

[Prescription Verse] Erhouju (Abscess behind the Ear) arises in the fold of the auricle, caused by Wind-Toxin of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) and flaming Fire of the Gallbladder. Redness, swelling with a head, and burning heat leading to easy suppuration indicate a favorable prognosis; black depression, hardness, severe pain, or cold, difficult-to-heal ulceration indicate an unfavorable prognosis.
[Annotation] This condition occurs between the folds of the auricle, regardless of whether it is on the left or right side. It belongs to Wind-Toxin of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) meridian, compounded by the upward flaming of Fire from the Gallbladder meridian. Initially, it resembles millet grains, gradually increasing in size and causing swelling and pain; small lesions are like apricot kernels, large ones like peach kernels. If there is redness and swelling with a pus head, burning heat, and easy suppuration yielding thick pus, it is a favorable sign. If the top is black and depressed, hard, with pain radiating to the head, and even involving the vertex, cheek, shoulder, and elbow, accompanied by lack of heat, delayed suppuration, and discharge of purple blood, it is an unfavorable sign. The initial treatment is the same as for Tiandu (a severe neck abscess). For cases already ulcerated, internal and external treatments follow the guidelines in the "Ulcerative Sores" section.
In some cases, if the interior-boosting method is neglected initially, or if cold-natured foods are mistakenly ingested, the toxin cannot be expelled outward and instead attacks the ear orifice, causing pus to discharge from the ear. This is called internal ulceration and belongs to deficiency syndrome; one should take Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Substance Great Tonifying Decoction) frequently. Generally speaking, young people suffering from this condition recover most slowly; elderly people are prone to developing fistulas.
Prescription: Shiquan Dabu Tang (See Ulcerative Sores Section)
[Prescription Verse] Erfa (Hair-like Carbuncle) is formed by the interaction of Wind-Heat in the Sanjiao (Triple Burner). Initially resembling pepper grains, it gradually swells into a honeycomb shape. Redness, swelling, and pain occurring behind the ear rim; discharge of yellowish-white pus indicates a good omen, while discharge of purple-black blood indicates a bad omen.
[Annotation] This condition occurs behind the ear and is caused by the struggle between Wind-Heat in the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) meridian. Initially resembling pepper grains, it gradually swells like a honeycomb, often developing multiple pores upon necrosis. It presents with burning redness, pain, and swelling extending to the ear rim. "Fa" refers to a carbuncle where the toxicity is extremely severe. One must not allow it to rupture spontaneously, fearing that delayed rupture will lead to pus communicating with the ear orifice. After eleven days, the top of the lesion should be cut open. Discharge of yellowish-white pus indicates a good omen and favorable course; discharge of fresh purple-red blood indicates a bad omen and unfavorable course. In the initial stage, Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Life Preserving Decoction) should be taken internally to dissipate the pathogen, and Erwei Baidu San (Two-Ingredient Poison-Removing Powder) applied externally. All other internal and external treatments follow the guidelines in the "Ulcerative Sores" section.
Prescription: Xianfang Huoming Yin (See Ulcerative Sores Section)
Erwei Baidu San (See Swollen Ulcers Section)
