The classic states: The spleen and stomach are the officials in charge of granaries; the five flavors originate from them.
It also states: [The spleen is] the official of remonstrance, from which comprehensive wisdom arises.
It also states: Its shape is like a knife or sickle, connected to the stomach by the same membrane, attached to its left posterior aspect at the Shu point, located below the eleventh vertebral process. It moves upon hearing sound,
and when it moves, it rubs against the stomach to govern transportation and transformation. Its external manifestation relates to the muscles, its luster appears on the lips, and it opens into the mouth.
It also states: This meridian typically has abundant Qi and scarce Blood.
The *Nan Jing* (Classic of Difficult Issues) states: The spleen weighs two jin and three liang, is broad and flat with a width of three cun and a length of five cun, and includes half a jin of "scattered pancreas" (San Gao). Its main function is to envelop the Blood,
warm the five Zang organs, and govern the mental intention and intelligence.
The *Zhong Zang Jing* (Classic of Internal Organs) states: The spleen governs the digestion of grains and nourishes the four peripheries (Figure 47).
Article:
The Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian originates at the tip of the great toe, follows the medial white flesh margin of the toe, passes behind the metatarsal head (He Gu), ascends anterior to the medial malleolus,
enters the medial thigh, follows the posterior aspect of the tibia, crosses anterior to the Jueyin Liver Meridian, ascends along the anterior medial aspect of the knee and thigh, enters the abdomen, connects with and belongs to the Pi (Spleen), links with the Wei (Stomach), ascends through the Ge (Diaphragm),
runs alongside the pharynx, connects with the root of the tongue, and scatters under the tongue; its branch again emerges from the Stomach, separates to ascend through the Diaphragm, and pours into the Heart. (See Figure 48)

The Taiyin Spleen Meridian originates at the great toe of the foot, ascends along the medial white flesh margin, behind the metatarsal head and anterior to the medial malleolus, ascends [missing character] along the leg through the knee interior,
enters the abdomen from the anterior medial aspect of the thigh, belongs to the Spleen, links with the Stomach, and communicates with the Diaphragm; it runs alongside the throat, connects with the tongue, and scatters under the tongue; the branch network emerges from the Stomach and pours into the Heart.
Note: [1] The meridian of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen originates at the Yinbai acupoint (SP-1) at the tip of the great toe.
[2] From Yinbai, following the medial white flesh margin of the toe, is the Dadu acupoint (SP-2).
[3] From Dadu, passing behind the metatarsal head, is the Taibai acupoint (SP-3).
[4] From Taibai, following the Gongsun (SP-4) and Shangqiu (SP-5) acupoints, arriving anterior to the medial malleolus, is the Sanyinjiao acupoint (SP-6).
[5] From Sanyinjiao, ascending [missing character] inwardly along the posterior aspect of the tibia, is the Lougu acupoint (SP-7).
[6] From Lougu, crossing anterior to the Jueyin Meridian, are the Diji (SP-8) and Yinlingquan (SP-9) acupoints.
[7] From Yinlingquan, ascending to the anterior medial aspect of the knee and thigh, are the Xuehai (SP-10), Jimen (SP-11), and Chongmen (SP-12) acupoints.
[8] From Chongmen, entering the abdomen, belonging to the Spleen, linking with the Stomach, traversing the Fushé, Fujie, Daheng, Fu'ai, Shidou, Tianxi, Xiongxiang, Zhourong, and Dabao acupoints before ascending to the pharynx, running alongside the pharynx, connecting with the root of the tongue, and scattering under the tongue. [9] Its branch emerges from the collateral of the Stomach, separately ascends through the Diaphragm, and pours into the Heart, thereby connecting with the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian.
