Snake-skin smallpox presents with a morphology resembling snake skin; the pustules appear faint and clustered, spreading diffusely without constraint. If the pathogenic toxin is mild, Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) should be used for regulation; if the toxin is severe, Bisheng Tang (Victory Decoction) combined with Zhuwei Gao (Pig Tail Ointment) is appropriate.
[Note]
When pustules emerge in clusters, forming sheets that spread diffusely without constraint, it is named "Snake Skin".
At the initial appearance of the spots, observing them as faint, clustered, dense, and unparalleled indicates they are caused by toxic fire.
Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) should be employed to attack the toxin; in severe cases, Bisheng Tang (Victory Decoction) should be assisted with Zhuwei Gao (Pig Tail Ointment) for rescue.
(The formula for Guizong Tang is found in the section on "Treatment of Fever Manifestations".)
(The formula for Bisheng Tang is found in the section on "Treatment at the Appearance of Spots".)
(The formula for Zhuwei Gao is found in the section on "Treatment of Locked Lip Manifestations".)
The morphology of the smallpox resembles seeds sown on mulberry cloth; the force of the fierce toxin is heavy, representing a adverse and ominous condition. One must quickly use Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) for rescue. If the toxin can be loosened and the pustules rise, survival may be hoped for.
[Note]
When smallpox emerges densely like seeds on mulberry cloth, it is named "Silkworm Seed". This is due to the excessive severity of the fierce toxin, representing extreme adversity and ominousness.
One must quickly use Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) to attack it, causing the toxin to loosen and the pustules to rise, so that there is hope for life.
(The formula for Guizong Tang is found in the section on "Treatment of Fever Manifestations".)
The morphology of the smallpox is piled up and connected, resembling a swallow's nest; the connections are fine and dense but do not form distinct granules. Apply Yanzhi externally to dot the pustules, and internally administer Liangxue Jiedu Tang (Cool Blood and Detoxify Decoction) to harmonize.
[Note]
When smallpox emerges piled up and connected, being fine and dense without forming granules, it is therefore called "Swallow's Nest".
It is suitable to use the external application method of Yanzhi Gao (Red Bean Paste Ointment), and internally take Liangxue Jiedu Tang (Cool Blood and Detoxify Decoction) to harmonize.
(The formula for Yanzhi Gao is found in the section on "Treatment of [Obscured Character] Manifestations".)
(The formula for Liangxue Jiedu Tang is found in the section on "Treatment of Crusting and Scab Falling Manifestations".)
Four or five grains connected are named "Rat Traces"; involving the whole body is severe, while rare occurrence is mild. Quickly use Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) to attack toxic heat. Only when they merge to form blisters can one expect survival.
[Note]
When smallpox emerges with four or five grains, or six or seven grains adhering to each other, it is named "Rat Traces".
Appearing in one or two places is mild; appearing over the entire body is severe.
Quickly use Guizong Tang (Return to Origin Decoction) to attack it, causing them to merge into blisters, at which point the toxin can be resolved, and survival can be expected.
(The formula for Guizong Tang is found in the section on "Treatment of Fever Manifestations".)
The morphology of the smallpox is flat and sunken without granules, gathering in circles and clustering like stacked coins. Apply Yanzhi externally for patching, and internally administer Liangxue Gongdu Yin (Cool Blood and Attack Toxin Drink) for cure.
[Note]
When smallpox spots have appeared but remain flat and sunken without rising, with indistinct granules, gathering in circles and clustering like stacked coins,
this is due to blood heat and abundant toxin. Apply Yanzhi Gao (Red Bean Paste Ointment) externally, and treat internally with Liangxue Gongdu Yin (Cool Blood and Attack Toxin Drink).
(The formula for Yanzhi Gao is found in the section on "Treatment of [Obscured Character] Manifestations".)
(The formula for Liangxue Gongdu Yin is found in the section on "Treatment at the Appearance of Spots".)
