Article: Fengchi Chuangyi (an eye disease characterized by redness, swelling, and ulceration of the eyelids) arises at the canthi and eyelids. The cornea remains intact and healthy, while the eyelids become ulcerated and red. This condition is caused by Wind-Heat in the Spleen Meridian and requires urgent treatment; if left untreated for a long time, it may lead to the formation of an opacity (nebula) that obscures the pupil.
Formula: Jiajian Siwu Tang (Modified Four Substances Decoction) consists of Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica), and Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), each weighing one qian.
Grind the above herbs into a coarse powder. Add two cups of water and decoct until one cup remains. Strain and take warm after meals.
Note: [1] "Fengchi Chuangyi" originates at the inner and outer canthi. The cornea remains completely normal, but the margins of the eyelids become ulcerated and erythematous.
[2] This condition is caused by Wind-Heat attacking upward from the Spleen Meridian. It should be treated urgently; otherwise, an opacity may form over time, covering the pupil.
[3] Use Jiajian Siwu Tang (Modified Four Substances Decoction).
Article: Fengqian Wai Pi (facial paralysis causing deviation of the mouth and eyes) presents with itchy and red eyelids. Acupuncture should be applied to Jingming (BL1) of the Yangming Meridian. Internally administer Paifeng San (Wind-Expelling Powder), which contains Quanxie (Scorpio), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Wushaoshe (Zaocys), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), and Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix).

Grind the above herbs into a fine powder and mix evenly. Take three qian mixed with rice water after meals.
Note: [1] The syndrome of Fengqian Wai Pi involves itchy and red eyelid skin, accompanied by intermittent pulling movements of the mouth and eyes. This is caused by the accumulation of Wind-Heat in the Yangming Meridian rising upward.
[2] Initially, needle the Jingming (BL1) acupoint to expel pathogenic factors externally, followed by the administration of Paifeng San (Wind-Expelling Powder) to disperse Wind internally.
Article: Fengqian Jian Chu (prolapse or eversion of the eyelid) manifests as everted eyelid skin, with both upper and lower eyelids appearing red, accompanied by continuous discharge of ocular secretion and tears. This is due to accumulated Heat in the Stomach Meridian and excess Wind in the Liver. Apply a washing method to remove blood stasis, after which the disease can be cured. Subsequently, administer Huangqi Tang (Astragalus Decoction), consisting of Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), Digupi (Cortex Lycii), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Fuling (Poria), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma).
