[Prescription Verse] Shanlou (Eel Fistula) arises between the calf muscles, with orifices resembling drilled holes and exuding continuous serous fluid. It closely resembles eczema caused by damp-heat; fumigation and washing with mugwort decoction alleviate itching and lead to recovery.
[Annotation] This condition is caused by damp-heat. Initially, it resembles eczema, appearing on the calf with simultaneous itching and pain. Upon rupture, yellow fluid oozes continuously without cessation. The orifice is deep like a drilled hole. If cold pathogen invades the wound, it causes coldness at the mouth/orifice and cold skin/muscle. The treatment method involves boiling mugwort leaves and old scallions in water for daily fumigation followed by washing. When the wound feels hot and itchy, apply Huangla Gao (Yellow Beeswax Ointment) to promote contraction and healing.
Formula: Huangla Gao (See [Yue Lian] Chuang)
[Prescription Verse] Sibafeng (Four-Bend Wind) occurs in the bends of the legs and feet, recurring monthly and being most lingering. Its appearance resembles wind-xuan (wind tinea) due to wind-pathogen invasion; scratching breaks the skin into sores with unbearable itching.
[Annotation] This condition appears in the popliteal fossae and ankle bends, recurring monthly. Its morphology resembles wind-xuan, resulting from wind-pathogen invading the couli (interstices of skin and muscle). The lesions are unceasing; scratching leads to rupture and exudation, resembling wet-tinea. The treatment method involves boiling one sheng of barley in water for fumigation and washing, followed by applying Sanmiao San (Three-Awesome Powder) to drain dampness and eliminate parasites. The lesions will cease, and gradual efficacy will be achieved.
Formula: Sanmiao San (See Abdominal Umbilical Carbuncle)
[Prescription Verse] Fengju (Wind Ulcer) arises in the concave areas of the lower leg. Scratching causes skin damage, exuding juice and pus. Wind-pathogen remains within the blood vessels, causing irritability, fever, dizziness, muscle swelling, and pain.
[Annotation] This condition appears on the tibia and in concave areas. Scratching damages the skin, exuding yellow fluid that is extremely viscous and thick. It results from wind-pathogen lingering and struggling within the blood vessels. Due to its deep root, it is named Ju (ulcer). In severe cases, the body experiences irritability and fever, dizziness, redness penetrating the muscles, and increased swelling and pain. It is suitable to take Fangfeng Tang (Saposhnikovia Decoction) and externally apply Qingzhu Dadou You (Green Bamboo Soybean Oil) for immediate effect.
Formula: Fangfeng Tang
Composition: Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Fuzi (Prepared Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), Mahuang (Honey-fried Herba Ephedrae), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Mutong (Caulis Akebiae), Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri), Danggui (Baked Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis), Gancao (Roasted Radix Glycyrrhizae), Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii) (each 5 fen).
Grind into coarse powder. Add one and a half zhong of water, decoct until eight parts remain. Clarify and remove dregs. Take after meals, and again before sleep. If sweating is desired, wait until fasting state, filter the dregs from the first decoction, and consume both doses together. Afterward, eat thin porridge with ginger, cover with blankets, lie down to induce sweating, and avoid wind.
[Prescription Verse] Fangfeng Tang treats wind-pathogen frying and struggling, remaining in blood vessels causing exudate and rupture. It contains Fuzi, Mahuang, Baizhi, Mutong, Chaihu, Danggui, Jiegeng, Gancao, and Qianghuo.
Another Formula: Qingzhu Dadou You (Green Bamboo Soybean Oil)
Composition: Cut a three-chi long green bamboo tube with a diameter of one and a half cun. Fill the tube with one sheng of black beans. Use bran and horse manure as fuel to roast the bamboo tube. Collect the oil juice using porcelain bowls at both ends. First, wash the affected area with warm rice-washing water mixed with salt, dry it, and immediately apply the bean oil. Not exceeding three applications yields extreme effectiveness.
