The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases) states: Postpartum Roufeng (Soft Wind) is characterized by flaccidity of the four limbs, inability to hold them steady, with muscles sometimes relaxed and sometimes spasmodic, rendering the body unable to bend or extend freely. This occurs because childbirth damages Qi and Blood, and when the body has not yet recovered its equilibrium, Wind pathogen takes advantage of this deficiency to invade.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Prescriptions from Master Ge) provides a formula for postpartum cases where one contracts Soft Wind, presenting with generalized pain and spontaneous sweating:
Use 4 liang of Huo Xiang (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis), combined with 2 sheng of clear wine, decoct together until half a sheng remains. Divide into two doses.
The *Chan Jing* (Classic of Childbirth) provides the Du Huo Tang (Angelica Decoction) for postpartum contraction of Soft Wind accompanied by body pain:
Qiang Huo (Rhizoma Notopterygii) and Du Huo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis) each 3 liang, Ge Gen (Radix Puerariae) 3 liang, Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) 2 liang (roasted), Ma Huang (Herba Ephedrae) 1 liang, Gui Xin (Cortex Cinnamomi) 3 liang, Sheng Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) 6 liang, Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) 3 liang, Gan Di Huang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) 2 liang.
These eight ingredients are decocted in 2 sheng of clear wine and 8 sheng of water until 3 sheng remains. Divide into five doses. Another version excludes Bai Shao.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* states: Childbirth injures the Zang-Fu organs and exhausts Qi and Blood. In mild cases, rhythmic rest and care allow recovery within a month; in severe cases, even after the time has passed, Qi and Blood remain unharmonized, resulting in emaciation and weakness.
The *Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) provides the Zhu Shen Tang (Pig Kidney Decoction) for postpartum emaciation, panting, and fatigue, or alternating chills and fever resembling deficiency, termed Lao Ji (Accumulation due to Overwork):
One Pig Kidney (remove fat and membrane; if unavailable, use Sheep Kidney), 1 sheng of Dou Chi (Fermented Soybean), 1 sheng of Bai Jing Mi (White Rice), 1 sheng of Cong Bai (Scallion White, sliced).
Decoct these four ingredients in 3 sheng of water until 5 sheng remains. Strain the dregs and drink appropriately according to the patient's preference. If not cured, prepare again.
The *Ge Shi Fang* provides the Li Yu Tang (Carp Decoction) for postpartum emaciation with cold sweating:
3 jin of Carp Meat, 1 jin of Cong Bai (Scallion White), 1 sheng of Dou Chi (Fermented Soybean).
Decoct these three ingredients in 6 sheng of water until 2 sheng remains. Divide into two doses. Stop administration once slight sweating occurs.
The *Ge Shi Fang* provides a formula for postpartum empty irritability causing insomnia:
Zhi Shi (Fructus Aurantii Immaturus) and Bai Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) in equal amounts, both roasted, ground into powder. Take one fang cun bi (a square-inch measure) per dose, three times daily.
The *Yi Men Fang* (Prescriptions from the Medical Gate) provides a formula for postpartum shortness of breath, weakness, lassitude, emptiness, and irritability:

Decoct in 9 sheng of water until 3 sheng remains. Divide into three doses.
