沐头竟，以酒更濯，日一，发即软。

《隋炀帝后宫香药方》染白发大豆煎∶
酢浆 大豆
上二物，以浆煮大豆以染之，黑便如漆。
《葛氏方》治白发方∶
先沐头发令净，取白灰，胡粉分等，浆和温之，夕卧涂敷讫，油衣抱裹。明旦洗去，便
黑。
又方∶拔白毛，仍以好蜜敷孔处，即生黑。
《千金方》治发白方∶
正月四日，二月八日，三月十三日，四月二十日，五月二十日，六月二十四日，七月二

洗完头后，再用酒清洗一次，每天一次，头发就会变软。
另一个方子：取三枚新鲜乌鸡蛋，先准备五升沸水（麻沸汤），将水舀起反复倾倒使其温度适宜，打破鸡蛋全部放入水中，搅拌混合均匀，再煮至……（原文此处有缺漏）。
又说：使头发光亮的方法：
捣碎大麻籽并蒸熟，用其汁液润泽头发，可使头发不断生长且富有光泽，效果很好。

《诸病源候论》说：气血虚弱则肾气衰弱，肾气衰弱则骨髓枯竭，所以头发会变白。
又说：头发经过千次梳理就不会变白。
又说：正月初一取五种香料煮成汤，洗头可防止白发。
《隋炀帝后宫香药方》中的染白发大豆煎方：
醋浆、大豆。
以上两味药，用醋浆煮大豆来染发，染后黑如漆。
《葛氏方》治疗白发的方子：
先将头发洗净，取白灰和胡粉各等份，用醋浆调和温热，晚上睡觉时涂抹完毕，用油纸包裹头部。第二天早晨洗去，头发就变黑了。
另一个方子：拔掉白毛，仍用优质蜂蜜敷在毛囊处，随即会长出黑发。
《千金方》治疗头发变白的方子：
正月四日、二月八日、三月十三日、四月二十日、五月二十日、六月二十四日、七月二十八日……
在这些日子拔除白发，就不再长白发了。
另一个方子：黑芝麻九蒸九晒，研成粉末，用枣膏做成丸剂，长期服用。
另一个方子：用生油浸泡乌梅，用时敷于头部良好。
《灵奇方》使白发转黑的方术：
陇西白芷（一升）、旋覆花（一升）、秦椒（一升）、好桂心（一尺）。
混合捣碎筛细，用井泉水送服一方寸匕，每天三次，三十天后白发全变黑，期间禁止房事。以此药喂食白色小狗，二十天后小狗的毛色也会全部改变。
《僧深方》想要使头发变黑的方子：
八角附子一枚，纯苦酒半升，在铜器中煎煮至再次沸腾，加入一块大如博戏之石的好矾石；待矾石完全溶解，纳……（原文此处有缺漏）。
《极要方》染鬓发白的方子：
多次用大麻籽淘米水洗澡/洗头，效果极佳。
《龙门方》治疗白发的方子：
用皂荚汤彻底洗净，擦干，涂上陈久的油渣，每天三次。（《千金方》与此相同。）
《孟诜食经》治疗白发的方子：
胡桃烧至烟尽，研磨成泥，与胡粉混合。拔掉白发后敷上，随即长出毛发。（如今按《本草拾遗》记载为制成泥状拔除白发……）
《如意方》染发白的方术：
取谷实捣取汁液，与水银混合擦拭头发，都会变黑。
另一个方子：熟桑椹用水浸泡，服用它，可使头发变黑。
又说：逆转白发的方法：
在农历五月午日焚烧白发。
另一个方子：在癸亥日去除白发，在甲子日焚烧它，头发自然脱落。

The *Yanshou Chishu* (Red Book of Longevity) states: The *Taiji Jing* (Classic of Great Unity) says: When combing the hair, one should face the Ren direction (North-Northeast). The *Ruyi Fang* method for making hair stand upright (voluminous):
Ash of *Iris lactea* var. chinensis (*Malin Hui*) (1 sheng), Ash of *Buddleja officinalis* (*Zining Hui*) (5 sheng), Ash of sesame (*Huma Hui*) (7 sheng).
For these three ashes, leach each separately with water. First use the juice from the *Iris* ash, then the juice from the *Buddleja* ash, and finally the juice from the sesame ash.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases) states: When blood and qi are deficient, the Kidney qi becomes weak. When Kidney qi is weak, the marrow essence dries up, thus the hair turns white.
It also states: Combing the hair a thousand times prevents it from turning white.
It also states: On the first day of the first lunar month, take five fragrant herbs to boil as a decoction for washing the head to prevent whitening.
The *Sui Yangdi Hougong Xiangyao Fang* (Fragrant and Medicinal Prescriptions of Emperor Yang of Sui's Harem) Soybean Decoction for Dyeing White Hair:
Vinegar slurry (*Cujiang*), Soybeans (*Dadou*).
Take the above two substances, boil the soybeans in vinegar slurry to dye the hair; it will become black as lacquer.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Prescriptions by Ge Hong) for treating white hair:
First wash the hair clean. Take equal parts of lime ash (*Baigui*) and lead white powder (*Hufen*). Mix with vinegar slurry and warm it. Apply before sleeping at night, wrap the head in oiled paper. Wash off the next morning, and the hair will be black.
Another prescription: Pluck out the white hairs, then apply good honey to the follicles; black hair will grow immediately.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) for treating white hair:
On the 4th day of the 1st lunar month, 8th of the 2nd, 13th of the 3rd, 20th of the 4th, 20th of the 5th, 24th of the 6th, 28th of the 7th...
Pluck the white hairs on these days, and they will not turn white again.
Another prescription: Black sesame seeds (*Wuma*) steamed and sun-dried nine times, pounded into powder, formed into pills with jujube paste. Take for a long time.
Another prescription: Soak dried dark plums (*Wumei*) in raw oil; apply to the head when needed; this is beneficial.
The *Lingqi Fang* (Spiritual Marvels Prescription) for returning white hair to black:
White angelica root (*Baizhi*) from Longxi (1 sheng), Inula flower (*Xuanfu*), Sichuan pepper (*Qinjiao* - note: likely refers to *Zanthoxylum* or similar pungent herb in this context, often translated as Zanthoxyl Pericarpium or similar depending on specific historical usage, here kept as Qinjiao per text), Good cinnamon heart (*Guixin*) (1 chi).
Pound and sift together. Take one cun-bi (a square-inch measure) with spring well water, three times daily. After thirty days, all white hair will turn black. Abstain from sexual intercourse. If this medicine is fed to white puppies, their fur will turn completely different within twenty days.
The *Seng Shen Fang* (Monk Shen's Prescription) for making hair black:
One Aconite root (*Fuzi*) with eight angles, half a sheng of pure sour wine (*Ku Jiu*). Boil in a copper vessel until it boils twice. Add a piece of alum stone (*Fanshi*) as large as a dice stone. When the alum dissolves completely, add... [text missing].
The *Jiyao Fang* (Extremely Important Prescription) for dyeing temple hair white:
Bathe/wash the head multiple times with the starchy water from pounding hemp seeds (*Damaizi*). This is excellent.
The *Longmen Fang* (Dragon Gate Prescription) for treating white hair:
Wash thoroughly with soap pod decoction (*Zaojia Tang*), dry, then apply old oil residue. Do this three times daily. (Same as in *Qianjin Fang*.)
The *Meng Shen Shijing* (Meng Shen's Food Classic) for treating white hair:
Burn walnuts until no smoke remains, grind into a paste, mix with lead white powder (*Hufen*). Pluck the white hair and apply the paste; hair will grow immediately. (Currently according to *Bencao Shiyi*: make into paste to pluck white hair...)
The *Ruyi Fang* method for dyeing hair white:
Take grain kernels, pound to extract juice, mix with mercury (*Shuiyin*), and wipe the hair; it will all turn black.
Another prescription: Soak ripe mulberry fruits (*Sangshen*) in water, consume them, and the hair will turn black.
It is also said: Method to reverse white hair:
Burn the white hair on the Wu day of the fifth lunar month.
Another prescription: Remove white hair on the Guihai day, burn it on the Jiazi day, and it will naturally fall out.
