The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Chonglang Chuang (Scarab Beetle Disease), is caused by exposure to the toxic qi of scarab beetles during diet and living, which enters the Zang-Fu organs and flows into the meridians.
At the onset, it resembles a rat's teat, swelling downwards like an inverted hand, accompanied by itching; scratching causes pain and numbness. After about one hundred and seven days, seven or eight holes appear, penetrating three cun deep. Scarab beetles emerge from within, numbering in the hundreds. As they mature tails, they pierce the skin, causing injury. The swelling becomes as large as a Yu or Sheng vessel. If left untreated for three years, it can be fatal.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) records a formula for treating Chonglang Chuang (Scarab Beetle Disease):
Mix ash from cow dung with lard rendered in the twelfth lunar month (La Yue) and apply externally to the lesion.
Another prescription: Apply hot cow dung topically.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Qiuyin Chuang (Earthworm Disease), is caused by inhaling the qi of earthworms from the living environment or diet, or by ingesting them, leading to the flow of pathogenic factors into the meridians.
The root of the disease lies in the Large Intestine. The manifestation involves swollen nodules that ulcerate and leak pus.
The *Jiyan Fang* (Collected Proven Prescriptions) records a formula for treating Qiuyin Chuang (Earthworm Disease):
Take fourteen brains of mole crickets (Loufu), mix with wine, and apply to the sore.
The *Liu Juanzi Guiyi Fang* (Prescriptions of Liu Juanzi) records a formula for treating Qiuyin Chuang (Earthworm Disease):
Mix duck fat with Hufen (Lead Carbonate/White Lead) and apply to the sore. This is highly effective.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) records a formula for treating Qiuyin Chuang (Earthworm Disease):
Grind the urine of earthworms and chickens into powder. Mix with the mandibular marrow of a male pig from the second lunar month and apply externally.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Yi Chuang (Ant Disease), is caused by consuming the essence of ants through diet. The toxin enters the Five Zang organs and flows out into the meridians. It often adheres to the neck, initially presenting as small, dense nodules, which then spread over the entire body.
The *Jiyan Fang* (Collected Proven Prescriptions) records a formula for treating Yi Chuang (Ant Disease):
Take one piece of Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome), crush it into powder, mix with duck fat, and apply to the sore.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) records a formula for treating Yi Chuang (Ant Disease):
Ingest one Qianbi (a traditional unit of weight) of the powdered ash of skin, liver, and heart, mixed with wine.
Another prescription: Apply the powdered ash of a rooster externally.
Yet another prescription: Apply mouse ash externally.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Prescriptions of Ge Hong) states: If there are many sores but few holes, this is Yi Chuang (Ant Disease).
Burn the gill plates of Lingli (a type of turtle), mix with pig fat, and apply externally. This is excellent.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Xie Chuang (Scorpion Disease), is caused by exposure to the toxic qi of scorpions through diet and living, entering the Zang organs and flowing into the meridians. It may arise in the armpits or beside the neck. The swelling rises in the shape of a scorpion, accompanied by chills and fever, eventually ulcerating into a sore. Over time, tiny scorpions may form inside the wound.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) records a formula for treating Xie Chuang (Scorpion Disease) where five or six holes are interconnected:
Crush fresh roots of Imperata cylindrica (Maogen) to extract juice, and drip it into the holes.
