Tang Dynasty - For those with Qi rising urgently causing suffocation and near-death sensation, take Shengjiang Zhi Fang (Fresh Ginger Juice Formula):
Take fresh ginger with skin intact, crush to extract approximately two sheng of juice. Take it warm in one dose at dawn; recovery will be immediate.
Guangli Fang - Treatment for sudden Hongjiao attacking the heart, causing mental restlessness and confusion/unconsciousness:
Take one da sheng of soybeans, wipe off the dirt, add three da sheng of water, boil concentratedly to extract the juice. Take half a sheng in one dose. If symptoms persist, wait a while and take another half sheng; this will stabilize the condition.
Su Xu's Mugua Tang (Quince Decoction): If toxic vapors attack the heart and pulses in hands and feet are imperceptible, this is difficult to treat, but out of necessity, this decoction was made. It cures about four out of ten cases. Formula:
Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu) (six sheng), Quinces (Mugua) (two pieces).
Add twelve dou of water, boil down to three sheng, remove dregs, divide into three doses. Take them spaced by the distance traveled in fifteen li. If diarrhea or sweating occurs, life will be saved. This was used for those suffering from toxic vapor attacking the heart.
Su - For Qi entering the abdomen and attacking the heart, where all pulses cease and the patient cannot recognize people, take Ni Niao Fang (Cow Urine Formula):
Urine of a black ox (one da sheng).
Take fresh, warm urine and consume it entirely; diarrhea will follow. As bowel movements clear, vision improves and recognition returns. Although it may not completely cure the Qi disorder, it can save life temporarily.

Raw pig liver (one piece, finely chopped).
Consume with minced garlic paste until finished. If the liver is large and cannot be eaten at once, divide it into two portions of raw slices (kuai) and consume over two times; the swelling will subside.
Another formula: Boil in water and eat alone.
Another formula: Su stated, chop pork finely into raw slices (kuai), mix with crushed garlic paste, and eat. Do this three times daily; after several days, the Qi toxicity stops, wind pathogens are expelled, and mobility is restored.
