(See the formula in "Standard Treatment of Plague")
This formula is a modification and combination of three formulas: Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), Xiao Qingliang San (Minor Cooling Powder), and Shenghua Tang (Life Generation Decoction).
(Self-made Formula)
Treats postpartum invasion by the Six Excesses (external pathogenic factors), with modifications based on specific symptoms.
Chuanxiong Rhizoma (2 qian), Danggui Radix (4 qian), Paojiang Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum (0.4 qian), Zhigancao Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparatum cum Melle (0.5 qian), Taoren Pruni Semen (10 grains), Fuling Poria (3 qian), Sharen Amomi Fructus (appropriate amount), decocted in water and taken orally. ○ If headache, fever, stiffness of the neck and back, and body pain occur, with a floating and tight pulse, it is a Shanghan (Cold Damage) syndrome. It is not suitable to use Mahuang Tang (Ephedra Decoction) for diaphoresis; instead, add Qianghuo Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, Fangfeng Saposhnikoviae Radix, and Bohe Menthae Haplocalycis Herba (each 1 qian), Sangbaipi Mori Cortex (2 qian), Jiuzhi Zhimu Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (2.5 qian), and Huashi Talcum (2 qian).
With these herbs combined, efficacy is invariably immediate. Therefore, regarding the two syndromes of Lei Shanghan (Shanghan-like) and Lei Zhongfeng (Stroke-like), no further elaboration is provided, lest excessive differentiation of syndromes lead to chaotic therapeutic principles, which would be not only unbeneficial but also harmful.

If there is thirst, add Gegen Puerariae Lobatae Radix (1 qian); if there is an urge to vomit but unable to do so, or an urge to defecate but unable to do so, add Cu zhi Dajun Rheum Palmati Radix et Rhizoma stir-fried with vinegar (4 qian); if muscle twitching (Zhuanjin) occurs with spasms of the four limbs...

Spontaneous sweating (Zihan) indicates deficiency of Yang Qi. Night sweats (Daohan) indicate deficiency of Yin fluids. If not stopped urgently, there is fear of collapse of Yin or collapse of Yang. The Classics state: "Those who suffer from collapse of Yang see ghosts"... [Text ends abruptly].
