There are forty-five acupoints contraindicated for moxibustion. These include Chengguang (BL9), Yamen (GV15), and Fengfu (GV16). Tianzhu (BL10), Suliao (GV26), Linqi (GB14 or BL1, depending on context, here likely referring to head points like Toulinqi GB15 or similar based on sequence, but literally "Linqi Shang"), and Shangxing (GV23). Jingming (BL1), Cuanzhu (BL2), and Yingxiang (LI20) follow in number. Heliao (SI19), Quanliao (SI18), Xizhukong (SJ23 - *Note: Text says "Xi Zhu Kong", likely a variant or typo for Si Zhukong*), and Kong point (*Note: Text is ambiguous, possibly referring to a specific ancient name*). Touwei (ST8), Xiaguan (ST7), and Jizhong (GV12). Jianzhen (SI9), Xinshu (BL15), and Baihuan Yu (BL34). Tianyou (TE16), Renying (ST9), and Ruzhong (RN17). Zhourong (ST15), Yuan Ye (CV15/Qimen alternative name?), and Jiutail (CV15 - *Note: Text says "Fu Jiutail", likely just Jiutail*). Fu'ai (ST16), Shaoshang (LU11), and Yuji (LU10) are located. Jingqu (LU8), Tianfu (LU3), and Zhongchong (PC9). Yangguan (GV14 or BL23? Context suggests GV14 Dazhui area or similar, but literally Yangguan), Yangchi (TE4), and Diwuhui (SP9). Yinbai (SP1), Lougu (SP9 - *Note: Lougu is SP9, Diwuhui is also SP9, text lists both separately which might be an error or distinct ancient naming*), and Yinlingquan (SP9). Tiaokou (ST38), Dubi (ST35), along with Yinshi (ST31). Futu (ST32), Biguan (ST31), and Weizhong (BL40). Yinmen (BL37), Shenmai (BL62), and Chengfu (BL36) should be avoided for moxibustion.
In years of Jia and Ji, the heavenly color is yellow. The Earth phase corresponds to Gong tone, prevailing in late summer. In years of Yi and Geng, the heavenly color flows white. The Metal phase corresponds to Shang tone, responding to autumn harvest. In years of Ding and Ren, the blue-green sky moves. The Wood phase corresponds to Jue tone, responding to spring birth. In years of Wu and Gui, the red sky shines bright. The Great Phase corresponds to Zheng tone, responding to summer growth. In years of Bing and Xin, the black sky manifests. The Water phase corresponds to Yu tone, responding to winter storage. The Five Tai (Excess) years are Jia, Bing, Wu, Geng, Ren. Yang is excessive and arrives quickly. The Five Shao (Deficiency) years are Yi, Ding, Ji, Xin, Gui. Yin is deficient and often arises slowly. When the five phases arrive as scheduled, it is called Ping (Balanced). The addition of stems and branches has been observed.
In Si and Hai years, Jueyin Wind-Wood governs; wind floats and anger prevails. In Zi and Wu years, Shaoyin Minister-Fire governs; minister fire becomes heat/shu. In Chou and Wei years, Taiyin Damp-Earth governs; damp earth becomes humid/muggy. In Yin and Shen years, Shaoyang Minister-Fire governs; minister fire becomes warm/stifling. In Mao and You years, Yangming Dry-Metal governs; dry metal brings clarity and solemnity. In Chen and Xu years, Taiyang Cold-Water governs; cold water is primary.
When the Phase (Yun) matches the Heavenly Transformation (Tian Hua), it is called Tian Fu (Heavenly符). When the Phase approaches the Branch (Zhi), it is called Sui Zhi (Year Direct). When the Phase, Sui Zhi, and Tian Hua are all identical, this is called San He (Three Harmonies), named Tai Yi. If the Great Phase is the same as the Zai Quan (Earthly Branch below), that year is called Tong Tian Fu (Same Heaven符). If the Minor Phase is similar to the Zai Quan, that year is called Tong Sui Hui (Same Year Assembly). When the Phase approaches the Four Meng (Beginnings: Yin, Shen, Si, Hai), the year's qi is not different. There is also Tong Tian Zhi De Fu; this applies to the year of Ren Yin. There is also Tong Sui Zhi De Fu; this applies to the year of Gui Si. If the Phase is deficient yet cold, but encounters the Monthly Stem to harmonize, or coincides with the beginning of the Da Han (Great Cold) solar term where Qi intersects, or if the Day/Hour Stems match the Phase, these three cases are all called Gan De Fu (Stem Virtue符). When the Qi transformation arrives as scheduled, it is a Ping (Balanced) year.
The six steps of Main Qi governing Heaven and Earth alternate at these times:
At Da Han (Great Cold), Jueyin is the First Qi. At Chun Fen (Spring Equinox), Shaoyin meets as the Second Qi. At Xiao Man (Grain Full), Shaoyang arrives as the Third Qi. At Da Shu (Great Heat), Taiyin connects as the Fourth Qi. At Qiu Fen (Autumn Equinox), Yangming arrives as the Fifth Qi. At Xiao Xue (Minor Snow), Taiyang concludes as the Sixth Qi.
