Denghua Mo (Lamp wick ash) applied to Jin Chuang (metal-inflicted wounds) can stop bleeding and promote flesh regeneration; causing the wound to turn black; if candle wax drops onto it, it is an omen of happy events, otherwise, it is an omen of gaining money. (From *Bencao*)
Zhao Qu suffered from Lai Bing (leprosy or severe scabies) for many years, and physicians could not cure him. Consequently, he was told to pack his belongings and was abandoned in a mountain cave. Zhao Qu lamented his misfortune, sighing and weeping for a month. An Immortal passing by the cave saw him, felt pity, and asked about his situation in detail. Zhao Qu realized this person was extraordinary, kowtowed, and begged for his life. The Immortal then took medicine from his pouch, bestowed it upon him, and instructed him to take it for over a hundred days. Afterward, the sores healed, his complexion became rosy, and his skin and muscles became moist. When the Immortal visited again, Zhao Qu thanked him for saving his life and requested the prescription. The Immortal said, "This is Songzhi (Pine resin). There is plenty of it here. You can refine and take it. Long-term use will make your body light and your strength increase a hundredfold. You can climb dangerous heights all day without fatigue. Living to a hundred years, your teeth will not fall out, your hair will not lose its color, and at night while sleeping, you may often see light as bright as a mirror." (From *Baopuzi*)
A person suffered from Jiao Chuang (foot ulcer). In winter, the condition suddenly resolved, but in summer, it became foul, rotting, and excruciatingly painful. A Daoist examined it and said, "You walked on grass and were contaminated by the secretions left by mating snakes. Snake larvae are inside the wound; they hibernate in winter and emerge in summer, hence the pain." Crush fresh Xiamawa (Toad) and apply it to the lesion, changing it three to four times daily. After three days, a small snake emerged from the wound. It was removed with iron tweezers, and the disease was cured. (From *Zhiqing Zasuo*)

The method is: Select Xuanlian (Coptis from Xuancheng), remove the rootlets, soak in wine overnight, dry by baking, grind into powder, and form pills the size of paulownia seeds using honey. Swallow twenty pills with wine at noon and before bed. (From *Dongpo Daquan*)
