Radix Saposhnikoviae (Yeloudu), Fructus Aurantii Immaturus (Zhishi), Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (Juapi), Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparatum (Banxia), Herba Ephedrae (Mahuang), and Fructus Evodiae (Wuzhuyu) should all be selected as aged and stored for a long time; other herbs must be selected as refined and fresh.
Peach gum, soaked in ash juice from mulberry branches and taken orally, cures hundred diseases; long-term consumption makes the body light and agile, shining brightly even in dark places like the moon rising; excessive consumption can also enable grain avoidance (Bigu).

Lady Ziwei stated in her narrative on consuming Atractylodis Rhizoma (Baizhu): Observing herbs that offer rapid benefits to oneself, none surpass Baizhu. The qi of Baizhu can suppress ghostly fluids, nourish blood, generate brain essence, expel evil, and lead to purity.
Guarding essence and protecting life, ancients named it "Mountain Spirit" herb and "Mountain Ginger" essence. The Supreme Guide to Immortality states: "If you desire longevity, you should consume Mountain Spirit; if you desire lightness and flight, you should consume Mountain Ginger."
The Inner Chapters record: Wen Shi of Nanyang fled into Mount Hu during chaos, starving and exhausted near death. A person taught him to eat Baizhu, after which he felt no hunger for decades until returning home. His complexion became younger, and his strength increased. Thus, Baizhu is also called "Mountain Spirit". *Shenyao Jing* states: "To ensure longevity, one must consume Mountain Spirit." (From *Baopuzi*)
It is said in the world that consuming Baizhu forbids eating sparrows and pigeons; however, this does not refer to turtledoves but to clams/shells. Diao, an external official, consumed Baizhu for a long time and suffered bloody diarrhea after eating clams, but remained unharmed after eating turtledoves. Once, two sparrows fought and fell into a basin pool; after a day, they transformed into clams. Later, throwing dead sparrows into it did not cause transformation. This is because sparrows and pigeons share similar qi categories. (From *Rongmu Xiantan*)
Liu Fenglin was a person from the Zhou Dynasty who practiced Daoism on Mount Song for four hundred years. His three attempts at refining the Divine Elixir were ruined by evil entities. He then entered Weiyu Mountain, held his breath for three days without breathing. Over a thousand years later, he has not yet ascended to immortality, having survived only by consuming Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), though he cannot command spirits.
Resina Pini (Songzhi) of stable quality is superior. It is placed in a fine cloth bag, soaked in water, and boiled with boiling water. Those floating on the surface are scooped up with a basket, thrown into new water, and boiled for a long time; those that do not release their essence are discarded. Add powder of Poria Cocos (Fuling Bai), pound and sieve into powder. Take three qian bi daily, hold in the mouth, rinse with warm water, brush teeth as usual, drink a little warm water to swallow, and continue rinsing teeth. This strengthens teeth, rejuvenates the face, and blackens beard hair. (From *Dongsuo Daquanji*)
A scholar in Sichuan abused his maid, who fled into the mountains. After a long time, she found wild grass with lovely leaves and stems, pulled up the roots, and ate them, finding them delicious. She continued eating them regularly, eventually losing the sensation of hunger and becoming light and healthy. One night, sleeping under a large tree, she heard movement in the grass, feared it was a tiger, and climbed the tree to hide. At dawn, descending to flat ground, she found herself levitating, flying from the top of one peak like a bird. Years later, her family members chopping wood saw her and told her master to capture her, but failed. One day, encountering her at the foot of a cliff, they surrounded her with nets from three sides. She suddenly leaped to the mountain top. The master was amazed. Some said, "How could this maid have immortal bones? She merely consumed spiritual medicine and ate it." They placed wine, food, and five-flavored delicacies on the path to observe if she would eat. She indeed came to eat, and after eating, could not go far, allowing her to be captured. She explained everything, pointing out that the grass she ate was Polygonati Rhizoma (Huangjing).
