The Yangming channel possesses abundant Qi and Blood, thus sweating is common. If the person has been deficient for a long time, they may paradoxically present with anhidrosis (absence of sweating). In such cases, one should replenish the Body Fluids (Jin Ye), harmonize Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi, allowing Yin and Yang to naturally harmonize, thereby inducing sweating to resolve the pathogen. (Ke Yunbo)
This is a syndrome where Stomach Heat combines with Cold Pathogens, stagnating in the skin. The mention of "long-term deficiency" clarifies the reason why the pathogen cannot be expelled through the exterior; Guizhi Er Yuebi Yi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Twice, Small Bitter Orange Decoction One) should be used, rather than suggesting the use of tonifying methods. (Shanghan Zuanchun)
Note: In this discussion, Zhang Zhongjing did not provide a treatment method. Chang Qizhi stated that Guizhi Jia Huangqin Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction plus Scutellaria Root) could be used. Guo Yong stated that Guizhi Mahuang Banban Tang (Half-and-Half Cinnamon Twig and Ephedra Decoction) is suitable. They failed to realize that both aforementioned formulas are herbs for the Taiyang channel. Since this is now a case of Yangming channel anhidrosis, Gegen Tang (Kudzu Decoction) should still be used as the principal formula. (Wang Hu)
Yangming Disease presents with dryness in the mouth, where the patient desires only to rinse water in the mouth without swallowing; this will inevitably lead to epistaxis (nosebleed). ○ A floating pulse, fever, dryness of the mouth and nose, and the ability to eat indicate that epistaxis will occur.
