If Jiudan is incorrectly treated with purgatives, it may eventually transform into Heidan (Black Jaundice), presenting with blue-black eyes, black complexion, a sensation in the heart like eating minced garlic, black stool, and skin as hard as leather with loss of sensation upon scratching. The pulse will be floating and weak. Although the complexion is black, a slight yellow hue remains, which allows for diagnosis.
