Indicated for deficiency of Heart Qi, susceptibility to fright, palpitations, alternating chills and fever, and various diseases; a formula that makes the person robust and healthy:
Zi Shi Ying (Purple Fluorspar), Bai Shi Ying (White Fluorspar) (each 10 liang), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger), Chi Shi Zhi (Red Halloysite), Bai Shi Zhi (White Halloysite) (each 30 liang).
The above five herbs are used in their complete form. For each dose, take 1 liang of the Shi Ying varieties and 3 liang each of the three Shi Zhi varieties. Add 30 sheng of water and decoct over mild heat until 2 sheng remains. Take on an empty stomach, divided into four doses: three times during the day and once at night. Food may be consumed only after noon. Weigh the herbs daily according to the previous amounts, adding yesterday's dregs to the new herbs for decoction, continuing until the herbs are fully exhausted. This is the usual practice. The amount of water added should strictly follow the quantity used for fresh herbs. Once both water and herbs are depleted, continue adding water to decoct the dregs and take them. This regimen lasts for forty days. Avoid alcohol and meat.
Use large scales and measures for decocting; the resulting liquid will also be substantial. After taking the decoction, immediately engage in walking, standing, sitting, or lying down to allow the medicinal power to permeate the whole body and circulate through the hundred vessels. If suffering from severe cold conditions, take it for forty-nine days in spring and forty-nine days in autumn. Once the cold disease recedes, ensure the liquid is clarified before consumption.
Commentary: No other formula better tonifies deficiency and dispels entrenched cold than this one. If used correctly, it is as easy as turning one's hand. However, later learners might consider it a common prescription and treat it with disrespect. Stop after one dose if cured. Overuse causes excessive heat, requiring cooling herbs to counteract it. Use with caution; do not use lightly.
Formula for taking Shi Ying juice with Jiang Chi (Ginger and Fermented Soybean Paste):
Bai Shi Ying (White Fluorspar) (2 da liang), Fei Zhu Rou (Fat Pork) (3 jin).
Add 8 sheng of water, decoct the Shi Ying first to obtain 5 sheng of liquid. Then add the pork and cook until tender. Take the pork broth, add Cong Chi (Scallion and Fermented Soybean Paste), chop the meat finely to make Jiang Chi, and eat it. One dose lasts six to seven days; consume it all completely. Decoct the 2 liang of Bai Shi Ying three times: first time whole; second time broken in the middle; third time crushed and decocted. Each time, wrap the stone in a silk bag. Replace the stones after three decoctions. This can be prepared before the second lunar month or after the eighth lunar month.
Formula for decocting Shi Ying in Pig Stomach:
Bai Shi Ying (White Fluorspar) (ground, placed in a double-layered silk bag, mouth sewn shut), Sheng Di Huang (Fresh Rehmannia Root) (sliced), Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger) (finely sliced), Ren Shen (Ginseng) (ground, each 2 da liang), Zhu Du (Pig Stomach) (one piece, cleaned and prepared for cooking), Chi (Fermented Soybeans) (one sao), Yang Rou (Mutton) (0.5 jin, finely sliced), Cong Bai (Scallion White) (7 stems, finely sliced), Xin Jing Mi (New Rice) (1 sheng).
Place the ten herbs along with the Shi Ying bag inside the pig stomach. Tie the opening tightly to prevent gas leakage and water entry. Add 2 dou of water and decoct to obtain 8 sheng. Remove from heat. Place the stuffed stomach on a plate to cool, then cut open. Cutting while hot may cause the juice to spill. First remove the stone bag, then use the broth from boiling the stomach to make a soup/congee and consume it. Take this three times a year. Use the same amount of Shi Ying each time, but replace the other herbs. Dosages follow the initial method. Take every one or two days. Avoid eating Mu Er (Wood Ear Mushroom) and Zhu Sun (Bamboo Shoots). For those under forty years old, use 2 da liang; for those aged forty-five to sixty and above, increase by 2 liang. It is commonly used. When taken after the fourth lunar month, because the stone nature is heavy, after two months of ingestion, if the stone power activates, it connects with the Qi of autumn, descending into the five zang organs, strengthening the waist and kidneys, ensuring no adverse reactions occur.
Formula for feeding Shi Ying to Male Oxen to Obtain Milk:
Bai Shi Ying (White Fluorspar) (3 da jin, more is acceptable).
Grind the single herb into fine powder over two to three days. Select a male ox over ten years old that is nursing a calf; leaner is better. Mix 1 da liang of the stone powder with chopped beans and feed the ox daily. After seven days, milk can be collected. Drink 1 sheng of this milk hot on an empty stomach daily. The remainder can be made into congee and eaten freely without restrictions. Starting in early fifth lunar month is best. If urgent, timing is not critical, and there will be no adverse effects. The manure from these oxen can be spread on land to grow vegetables, which can then be consumed by the person drinking the milk.
Formula for Growing Vegetables on Land Fertilized with Shi Ying Manure:
Bai Shi Ying (White Fluorspar) (5 da jin, less is acceptable).
Grind the herb into powder as described above. Spread the manure on the land to grow Gou Qi (Goji Berry), Niu Xi (Achyranthes Root), Dou Cai (Bean Vegetables), etc. Consuming these is highly beneficial to humans.
Refining Bai Shi Ying Formula:
Bai Shi Ying (White Fluorspar) (5 xiao liang per batch; flawless pieces from Shangdang are best).
Crush the Shi Ying and place it in a mortar. Moisten with water (do not add too much). Grind until fine as powder. Add water to create a slurry about half an cun thick. Stir until turbid, let settle, and pour the clear supernatant into a clean vessel. The coarse residue is ground finer again, repeating the process until fine. The heaviest sediment is considered "evil stone" and is unusable; discard it. Repeat the levigation process. Dry the refined powder in the sun or on warm ashes. Take approximately 2 bi (a small scoop) with wine. Wine helps the stone disperse without needing to mix with other herbs.
Formula for Taking Bai Shi Ying Powder:
Bai Shi Ying (White Fluorspar) (any amount, must be crystal clear and pure).
Levigate the stone as before until it becomes powder. It should taste non-astringent and feel fine when rubbed into the skin; otherwise, it is unsuitable. Make a batch of 4 liang. Mix with good white honey and form twenty-one pills. Dry them and store in a silk bag. Before meals, take 3-5 spoons of rice congee, then hold one pill in the mouth to dissolve into fine powder, rinse with water, and swallow. After taking, observe strict dietary precautions for twenty days. Avoid foul-smelling foods. In Chang'an, following this method, if headaches and temple pain like splitting occur in early spring, take Zi Xue (Purple Snow) equivalent to the size of two dates to stop it immediately.
Qiepo Dashī’s Formula for Treating Ten Thousand Internal Diseases of the Five Zang and Six Fu Organs and for Tonifying Longevity and Anti-Aging:
Zi Shi Ying (Purple Fluorspar) (ground for one day and night), Bai Fu Ling (Poria), Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber) (heart removed), Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root), Shao Yao (Peony Root), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (honey-fried, each 7 liang).
Process the six herbs, crush and sieve into a powder. Crush Mai Men Dong until it resembles maltose paste. Mix with the powder and pound for a thousand strokes. Add a little honey and pound another thousand strokes until it can be formed into pills the size of wu zi (cherry seeds). Take seven pills with wine, twice daily. After one year of use, ten thousand diseases will heal; after two years, the marrow will be filled and solid; after three years, sinews transform into bone, flesh transforms into sinew, the body becomes light, vision clears, wind and cold are expelled, and it wards off evil spirits effectively. Continuous use leads to a lifespan of a thousand years, preventing aging and achieving immortality.
However, caution is required in taking this. One must uphold the Five Precepts and Ten Virtues, cultivate compassion, and rescue all beings to achieve longevity. These six herbs correspond to the six periods, harmonizing Yang and nourishing Yin, and should be taken regularly. Those with existing diseases should take them according to the examination of these six herbs. Examining various classics, these six herbs generate each other like mother and child. Upon ingestion, they remain in the abdomen for a long time.
