Take one white-feathered, black-boned hen (Bai Mao Wu Gu Mu Ji), feed it with glutinous rice for seven days, ensuring it does not eat insects, ants, or wild food. Strangle it with a rope, remove the feathers and entrails, and place the following herbs inside the chicken's abdomen:
Sheng Di Huang (Raw Rhizoma Rehmanniae), Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rhizoma Rehmanniae), Tian Men Dong (Radix Asparagi), Mai Men Dong (Tuber Ophiopogonis) each 2 liang.
Place the chicken in a pottery vessel, add aged wine, and boil until tender. Remove the chicken and discard the medicinal residues. Roast over mulberry wood fire until scorched and dry, then grind into powder. Add the following herbs:
Du Zhong (Eucommia Bark, stir-fried) 2 liang; Ren Shen (Ginseng Root), Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), Rou Cong Rong (Cistanche Stem), Bu Gu Zhi (Fructus Psoraleae), Hui Xiang (Fennel Fruit), Sha Ren (Amomum Fruit) each 1 liang; Chuan Xiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Dan Shen (Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root).
Soak the above herbs in vinegar for three days, dry them, and grind into powder. Mix this powder with the previous medicinal wine, use wheat paste to form pills. Take 50 pills orally with warm wine on an empty stomach.

Alternatively, crush rhizome of Imperata cylindrica (Mao Gen Cao) to extract juice, grind Chen Xiang (Aquilaria Wood) thickly, and take 5 qian mixed with the juice. Another method is to store strong vinegar in a bottle, heat it over fire, and inhale the rising steam through both nostrils; bleeding will naturally subside.
When women experience menstrual pain resembling twisting or wringing during menstruation, it is called Dysmenorrhea (Tong Jing). The symptoms differ between Stagnant Heat (Yu Re) and Deficiency Cold (Xu Han). For Stagnant Heat, the following is suitable:

Grind and sieve the above herbs, use congee as a binder to form pills. Take 3-4 qian orally with clear soup on an empty stomach; long-term use leads to self-healing.
