The Emperor said: Excellent. What are the manifestations of excess and deficiency in Zhi (Kidney Intent)? Qibo replied: When Zhi is in excess, there is abdominal distension and undigested stool diarrhea; when Zhi is deficient, there is cold extremities (Jue). If blood and qi have not yet aggregated, and the five zang organs are stable, but there is movement or sensation in the bone joints. The Emperor asked: How should tonification and sedation be performed? Qibo replied: When Zhi is in excess, sedate the collateral blood at Rangu (KI2); when Zhi is deficient, tonify Fuliu (KI7) and retain the needle. The Emperor asked: How to treat when blood and qi have not yet aggregated? Qibo replied: Immediately take the point, but do not penetrate the main meridian; only target the location of the pathogenic factor, so that the pathogen can be immediately emptied.
If blood is clear and qi is turbid, rapid sedation will lead to exhaustion of qi; if blood is turbid and qi is stagnant, rapid sedation can unblock the meridians.
