Zi (courtesy name) De, hao (art name) Yunju, was a native of Jiangpu. He was a disciple of Zhu Danxi, possessed high aspirations, and was proficient in medical arts. When Zhang Shicheng occupied Wu, he was summoned but did not go; instead, he took his family to live in seclusion among the villagers of Huating, with the heart of saving lives. His medical skills reached profound depths, and he could revive those with severe and chronic conditions. He authored books such as *Yixue Zongzhi* (The Principles of Medicine) and *Jinkui Yanyi* (Expanded Meaning of the Golden Cabinet), which were circulated in the world.
Zi Zhongxian, hao Chishan Laoren, was a native of Wujun. In his youth, he studied the Confucian Classics, especially delving into the principles of Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon). He saved many people. He revised Zhang Jiming's *Yishuo* (Medical Sayings) from Xin'an, expounded upon *Lingshu* (Spiritual Pivot) and *Suwen* (Basic Questions), and his treatises on *Yuanji Qiwei* (Origin of Instruments and Subtle Mechanisms) were circulated in the world.
Zi Ying, hao Cangzhou Weng, was a native of Siming. He was erudite and proficient in medicine, possessing unique insights. Whenever he encountered strange diseases, he treated them with unusual prescriptions, without fail achieving cures. At that time, a man saw everything upside down with both eyes and sought treatment from Weng. Upon inquiring about the cause, it was found that after getting heavily drunk and vomiting violently, his vision became inverted shortly thereafter. Weng palpated his pulse, finding the left Guan position floating and rapid. He deduced that heavy drinking followed by violent vomiting had caused repeated disturbance in the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner), leading to an inversion of the Gallbladder's function, thus causing inverted vision. The method should be to induce vomiting again to rectify the Qi. Therefore, he used Licorice Root and Melon Stalk Powder (Lilu Guiti San) to induce emesis, after which his vision returned to normal.
Name Qizong, was a native of Jianye, serving as a Professor of Confucian Studies. He regarded literary cultivation as the effort to become a sage. He believed that medicine is the study of life and death, so he devoted himself to exploring the secrets of Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon). He wrote on the principles of Wuyun Liuqi (Five Movements and Six Qi), corrected errors in *Maijue* (Pulse Secrets), refuted heretical theories, and rectified the origins, truly contributing to medicine.
Surname Liu, given name Ji, courtesy name Bowen, was a native of Jiangzhe. Naturally erudite, he was talented in both civil and military affairs, exploring the Heavenly Dao above and Human Affairs below. Books on the Three Teachings, Nine Schools, and hundreds of crafts were never forgotten once read. He recognized the Son of Heaven (Emperor) amidst the commoners, assisted Taizu in founding the dynasty, and achieved great merit, comparable to Zhang Liang and Zhuge Liang. He was enfeoffed as Duke, receiving an income of two thousand shi, but declined, accepting instead the title of Earl of Chengyi. He often said: Among books for people's daily use, first come the Five Relationships (ethical relations between father and son, ruler and subject, husband and wife, elder and younger brother, and friends), secondly medical prescriptions, and thirdly Yi numerology (divination and numerical philosophy of I Ching). These three are the foundation for people to establish their lives and destinies. They should certainly be taught and widely disseminated. His collected works include *Jingxiao Yifang* (Effective Medical Prescriptions) and *Duoneng Bisshi* (Capable of Trivial Matters), which are circulated in the world.
