The Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin has nine acupoints: Tianchi (PC1), Tianquan (PC2), Quze (PC3), Ximen (PC4), Jianshi (PC5), Neiguan (PC6), Daling (PC7), Laogong (PC8), and Zhongchong (PC9).
How to locate the acupoints of the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin? Tianchi (PC1) is located one cun posterior to the nipple. Tianquan (PC2) is located two cun below the axilla. Quze (PC3) can be found at the medial end of the transverse cubital crease where the artery beats. Ximen (PC4) connects five cun above the wrist crease. Jianshi (PC5) is encountered three cun proximal to the wrist crease. Neiguan (PC6) is only two cun from the wrist crease. Daling (PC7) lies between the two tendons on the posterior aspect of the wrist. Laogong (PC8) is located by flexing the ring finger; Zhongchong (PC9) is at the tip of the middle finger.
The Classics state: The Sanjiao (Triple Burner) is the official in charge of irrigation, through which water passages flow. The Sanjiao is the pathway for food and fluids, and the starting and ending point of Qi. The Upper Burner is located below the heart, inferior to the diaphragm and superior to the stomach. Its upper orifice governs intake without excretion; its treatment site is at Shanzhong (CV17), which is one cun below Yutang (CV19), in the depression between the two breasts. The Middle Burner is located in the middle of the stomach, neither high nor low, governing the rotting and ripening of food and fluids; its treatment site is beside the umbilicus. The Lower Burner is located at the upper orifice of the bladder, governing the separation of clear and turbid substances, intake without excretion to transmit waste; its treatment site is one cun below the umbilicus, hence named Sanjiao. It is also said: The Upper Burner is like mist, the Middle Burner like a fermenting vat, and the Lower Burner like a ditch.
The meridian of the Sanjiao of Hand-Shaoyang originates at the tip of the fourth finger (ring finger), ascends between the fourth and fifth fingers, emerges along the dorsal aspect of the hand passing the wrist, exits between the two bones of the forearm, ascends through the elbow, follows the lateral aspect to the shoulder, crosses posterior to the Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang, enters the supraclavicular fossa, connects with the Shanzhong, scatters and networks with the Pericardium, descends through the diaphragm, and successively belongs to the Upper, Middle, and Lower Sanjiao. A branch arises from the Shanzhong, ascends out of the supraclavicular fossa, goes up the neck, connects behind the ear, emerges directly above the apex of the ear, curves down to the cheek, reaching the outer canthus. Another branch enters the ear from behind the ear, reaches the interior of the ear, and terminates at the outer canthus. There are twenty-three acupoints in total, forty-six bilaterally.
