龙骨 味甘，气平，微寒。阳也。无毒。（得人参、牛黄良。畏干枣、蜀椒、理石。
色青白者良，五色具者尤佳，黑色者下。）主心腹鬼疰精物老魅，咳逆，泄痢脓血，尿血鼻血吐
血，女子漏下， 瘕坚结。小儿热气惊痫，止梦寐泄精，小便泄精。肠痈内疽阴蚀，止盗汗，缩
小便。夜卧自惊多梦纷纭者，加用之。安心神，定魂魄，去脱固气涩肠。小儿脐疮不瘥，烧灰细
研敷之。齿（得人参、牛黄良。畏石膏。）主小儿大人惊痫身热，癫疾狂走，心下结气，不能喘
息，诸痉，大人骨间寒热，杀精物蛊毒。角主惊痫螈 ，身热如火，腹中坚及其热泄。
象牙 气平，无毒。主诸铁及杂物入肉，刮取屑，细研和水，敷疮上，及杂物刺等，
立出。喉中刺，水调饮
之，旧牙梳屑尤佳，及小便不通，生煎服之。小便多，烧灰饮下。象胆随四时在四腿，春前左，
夏前右，秋后左，冬后右。主目疾，和乳滴目中，又可和水涂疮肿。胸前小横骨作灰，酒服之，
令人能浮水。
牛黄 味苦，气平、凉。有小毒，一云无毒。（人参为之使，恶龙骨、地黄、龙胆
草、常山。畏牛膝、干漆。轻松重叠可揭微折，香摩手甲上，黄透甲者为真。吐出者名生黄为上，
其次有角黄、心黄、肝胆黄，得之阴干百日，使勿令见日月光。）主惊痫寒热，热盛狂痉，除邪
祟鬼魅。疗小儿百病，诸痫热口噤不开，大人狂癫，中风失音。久服安魂定魄，令人不忘。得牡
丹、菖蒲，利耳目。小儿新生去惊邪，辟恶气。（取一大豆许，细研和熟蜜以绵蘸之，令儿吮之，
一日令尽。）
牛角 味苦，气温，性涩，无毒。（凡用烧为黑灰存性。）酒调服。主下闭血瘀血
疼痛，女人带下血崩不止。髓味甘，补中填骨髓，久服延年。胆味苦，气大寒，可丸药，又除心
腹热渴，利口焦燥，益目精。肉味甘，主消渴，止哕泄，安中益气，养脾胃，消水肿。齿主小儿
牛痫。黄犍牛、乌牯牛溺，主水肿腹胀脚满，利小便，取三升服，旋以铜器取新者。
阿胶 味甘、辛，气平、微温。味薄气浓，阳也。无毒。入手太阴经、足少阴经、
厥阴经。（畏大黄，薯蓣为之使，得火良。用东阿井水煮牛皮或驴皮为之。）主心腹内崩劳极，
洒洒如疟状，腰腹痛，四肢酸疼，小腹痛。止痢，养肝气，益肺金定喘。肺虚极损，咳吐脓血，
非此不补。又治女子下血，安胎，血虚而胎不安者须此。久服轻身益气。
鹿茸 味甘、酸。又云苦、辛，气温。无毒。（不破损及不出却血者佳，力在血中
也。形如小紫茄者上。又云毋用太嫩，唯长四五寸，节端如玛瑙红者最佳。阴干。不可鼻嗅，酥
炙用。）主漏下恶血，溺血，破留血在腹，散石淋痈肿，骨中热疽，养骨安胎下气。治寒热惊痫，
虚劳洒洒如疟，羸瘦。四肢酸疼腰脊痛，脚膝无力，小便利，泄精，女人崩中赤白带下。益气强
志，生齿不老。角味咸，气温。（杜仲为之使，七月采。）主恶疮痈肿，逐邪恶气，留血在阴中，
小腹血急痛，腰脊痛，折伤恶血、尿血。轻身益气，强筋骨，补绝伤。又妇人梦与鬼交者，取末
和清酒服，即出鬼精妖魅猫鬼。病患不
肯言鬼，用角屑捣末，水服方寸匕，即言实也。髓辛、甘，气温。主丈夫女子伤中绝脉，筋急痛，
咳逆，以酒和服之。地黄汁煎作膏，填骨髓。蜜煮壮阳，令有子。肉温补中，强五脏，益气力。
生者疗口偏，割薄片左患右贴，右患左贴，正即除之。按《月令》∶冬至一阳生，麋角解。夏至
一阴生，鹿角解。麋茸利补阳，鹿茸利补阴。
白胶 味甘，气平、温。无毒。（得火良，畏大黄。煮鹿角作之。一名鹿角胶。）
主伤中劳绝，腰痛羸瘦。补中益气，妇人血闭无子，止痛安胎。疗吐血下血，崩中漏下赤白淋露，
折跌伤损。久服轻身延年。
麋脂 味辛，气温。无毒。主痈肿恶疮死肌，寒风湿痹，四肢拘缓不收。风头肿气，
通腠理。不可近阴，令痿。角味甘，主痹，止血，补虚劳，益气力，填骨髓，暖腰膝，壮阳道。茸尤良。
熊脂 味甘，气微寒。一云微温，无毒。（十一月取此是，背出膏，寒月则有。）
主风痹不仁筋急，五脏腹中积聚，寒热羸瘦，头疡白秃面 。久服强志，不饥轻身。又云有痼
疾者，不可食，食则终身不能除。胆味苦，气寒。（恶防己、地黄。）主时气盛，热变为黄胆，
小儿惊痫五疳。杀虫，治恶疮。又久痔不瘥，涂之取瘥乃止，神效。
麝香 味辛，气温。无毒。（春分取之，生者益良。）主辟恶气，杀鬼精物，温疟
蛊毒痫 。去三虫，疗诸凶邪鬼气中恶，心腹暴痛胀急，痞满风毒。妇人产难堕胎，又能疗蛇毒。
犀角 味苦、酸、咸。又云甘、辛，气寒。无毒。（松脂为之使。恶雷丸。入药用
雄者，须用生角，乌色，未经汤水浸煮。凡犀角纸裹置怀中良久，取出捣则易碎，故人气暖浓。
若蘑服取角尖为候。凡治一切角，大忌盐。）主百毒蛊疰，邪鬼瘴气，杀钩吻、鸩羽、蛇毒。解
山瘴溪毒，除邪不迷惑魇寐。疗伤寒温疫，头痛烦闷，大热发狂，中风失音，小儿风热惊痫。又
治发背痈疽疮肿，破血化脓，安心神，止烦乱，镇肝明目。久服轻身。丹溪云∶属阳，性走散，
痘疮后用此，散余毒。若无余毒而血虚或燥热者，不宜用。又鹿取茸，犀取尖，其精锐之力尽在是矣。
羚羊角 味咸、苦，气寒。无毒，属木入厥阴经。（角多节而尖圆，绕弯中深锐，紫
小有挂痕者是。）主明目，益气起阴，去
恶血疰下，辟虫毒恶鬼不祥，安心气，常不魇寐。疗伤寒时气寒热，热在肌肤，温风注毒伏在骨
间。除邪气惊梦狂越辟谬，小儿惊痫。治山瘴，散产后血冲心烦闷，烧末酒服之。又烧灰或屑末，
治食噎不通。久服强筋骨，轻身益气，利丈夫。
羊角 味咸、苦，气温、微寒。无毒。（菟丝子为之使。青羝为佳。取无时，勿使
中湿，湿则有毒。）主青盲，明目。杀疥虫，止寒泄，止惊悸。又虫毒吐血，妇人产后余痛，小
儿惊痫，烧之辟恶鬼、虎、野狼，去蛇。久服安心益气轻身。青羊肝胆主青盲，明目。胆点眼中主
赤瘴，白膜风泪。又解虫毒。齿主小儿羊痫寒热，三月三日取。肉味苦、甘，气热。主缓中及大
风汗出，虚劳寒冷，补中益气安心。时疾初愈人不可食，食当复发。胫骨治牙齿疏豁。
虎骨 味辛，气微温。无毒。（雄者胜，酒或酥炙用。）主邪恶气，杀鬼疰毒。止
惊悸，恶疮鼠 ，头骨尤良。治筋骨臂胫毒风挛急，屈伸不得，走疰疼痛，酒浸服，脊胫骨妙。
风从虎，故宜治风。虎至有力，故可补腰膝。膏主狗啮疮，头秃疮。爪辟恶鬼。胆主小儿疳痢，
惊痫，研水服之愈。
豹肉 味酸，气平。无毒。主安五脏，补绝伤，轻身益气。久服利人耐寒暑，脂可
合生发膏，朝涂暮生。齿骨极坚，人得之诈为佛牙，以为诳俗。
白马茎 味咸、甘，气平。无毒。（阴干百日用。）主伤中脉绝，阴不起。强志益气，
长肌肉，肥健生子。眼主惊痫，腹满疟疾，杀鬼用之。悬蹄主惊邪螈 ，乳难，衄血，内漏崩。
辟恶气鬼毒蛊疰不祥。齿主小儿惊痫，水摩服。溺味辛、微咸。主消渴，破 坚积聚。男子伏梁
积疝，妇人瘕疾，铜器盛饮之。又治鳖瘕。又洗头疮，白秃。
牡狗阴茎 味咸，气平。无毒。（六月上伏取，阴干百日。）主伤中，阴痿不起，
令强热大，生子，除女子带下十二疾。胆主明目，酒调服之及注目中。又敷痂疡恶疮。头骨主金
疮止血，烧灰存性敷之。附骨疽及鱼眼疮，烧烟熏之。白狗血，味咸。主癫疾发作及鬼击之病，
取热血一升饮之，又涂身上。肉味咸、酸，性温。主安五脏，补伤绝，壮阳道，轻身益气。黄色
者上，白黑次之。阴虚发热人不宜食。大抵人身之虚多是阴虚，世俗往往用此为补，不
知其害。犬肉不可炙食，致消渴。又不可与蒜同食，顿损人。乳汁主青盲，取白犬生子目未开时
汁，注目中，疗十年盲，狗子目开即瘥。
狐阴茎 味甘，有毒。主女子绝产，阴痒小儿阴 卵肿。雄狐粪烧之辟恶，在木石上
尖头坚者是。颤烧以辟邪。心肝生服治狐魅，肝烧灰以治风。
狐骨 味甘，气温。无毒。主风佳、尸疰、鬼疰毒瓦斯，在皮中淫跃如针刺者，心腹
痛，走无常处，及鼠 恶疮。头骨尤良。炙骨和麝香、雄黄为丸，治痔及 疮甚效。肉疗诸疰，
主痔，作羹 食之。粪烧灰，主寒热鬼疟发无期度者，极验。
兔头骨 味甘，气平。无毒。（腊月者良。）主头眩痛，癫疾。皮毛及头烧灰酒下，
主难产催生，并产后胎衣及余血不下。脑髓涂冻疮。肉补中益气，妊娠忌食，不可同白鸡肉食。
豚卵 味甘，气温。无毒。（阴干藏之，勿令败。）主惊痫癫疾，鬼疰蛊毒。除寒
热奔豚，五癃，邪气挛缩。悬蹄，主五痔，伏热在肠，肠痈内蚀。四足主伤挞诸败疮，下乳汁。
胆味苦、咸，主伤寒热渴，又大便不通，内入下部即通。小儿头疮，取汁敷之。肉味甘、咸，多
食令人暴肥，引风。肝，女子阴中苦痒，搔之痛闷，炙热内阴中，当有虫食肝出。
野猪黄 味辛、甘，气平。无毒。（三岁者胆中有黄，和水服之。）主金疮，止血生
肌。疗癫痫及鬼疰。脂，妇人有乳，炼精细以一匙和酒一盏，日三服。
獭肝 味甘、咸，气微热。有毒。主鬼疰尸劳一门相染者，火炙末和方寸匕，日再
服。又治蛊毒，却鱼鲠，止久嗽，烧服之。肉疗疫气瘟病，又牛马时行病，又治水气胀满。胆主
明目，亦入点药中。屎主鱼脐疮，研敷之。
鼠 气微温。主堕胎，令易产，临产带之或烧末临时饮之。
腽肭脐 味咸，气大热。无毒。（酒浸一日，微火上炙令香入药。欲验其真，取置睡
犬傍，犬忽惊跳若狂。又腊月冲风处置盂，水浸之不冻。）
主鬼气湿疰，梦与鬼交，鬼魅狐魅。心腹痛，中恶邪气，宿血结块， 癖羸瘦。暖腰膝，助阳气。
治脐腹积冷，精衰脾胃劳极。
笔头尖 气微寒。（年久使之者良。）主小便不通，小便数难，阴肿中恶，脱肛淋漓，
烧灰水服之。交婚多茎痿，取灰，酒服之。
败鼓皮 气平。主蛊毒，烧作屑，水和服之。病患当呼蛊主名姓，令取蛊即瘥。
诸血 味甘，气寒。主补人身血不足，并生饮之，又解诸药毒。止渴除丹石毒，去烦热。
龙骨：味甘，气平，微寒。属阳。无毒。（与人参、牛黄同用效果良好。畏干枣、蜀椒、理石。）颜色青白者佳，五色俱全的更好，黑色的较差。主治心腹鬼疰（指由邪祟引起的慢性消耗性疾病）、精物老魅（指妖魔鬼怪作祟），咳嗽气逆，泄痢脓血，尿血、鼻出血、吐血，女子漏下（非经期阴道出血），瘕坚结（腹部结块）。小儿热气惊痫（因热邪引起的小儿惊厥抽搐），止梦遗滑精，小便失禁。肠痈内疽阴蚀（指肛门周围溃疡或脓肿），止盗汗，缩小便。夜间睡眠易惊、多梦纷乱者，加用此药。能安心神，定魂魄，固脱涩肠。小儿脐疮久不愈合，烧成灰细研后外敷。牙齿（与人参、牛黄同用效果良好。畏石膏。）主治大人和小儿的惊痫身热，癫疾狂走，心下结气，呼吸困难，各种痉挛，成人骨间寒热，杀灭精物蛊毒。角主治惊痫抽搐，身热如火，腹中硬结及热性泄泻。
象牙：气平，无毒。主治各种铁器及杂物刺入肉中，刮取屑末，细研和水，敷于疮口上，以及异物刺伤等，可立即取出。喉中有刺，用水调服，旧牙梳屑尤佳。又治小便不通，生煎服用。小便频多，烧成灰后饮服。象胆随四季变化位于四条腿的不同位置，春前在左腿，夏前在右腿，秋后在左腿，冬后在右腿。主治眼疾，与乳汁混合滴入眼中，也可加水涂于疮肿处。胸前小横骨烧成灰，酒送服，使人能浮水游泳。
牛黄：味苦，气平、凉。有小毒，一说无毒。（人参为之使，恶龙骨、地黄、龙胆草、常山。畏牛膝、干漆。质地轻松重叠可揭，微折，香摩手甲上，黄色透甲者为真品。吐出者名生黄为上乘，其次有角黄、心黄、肝胆黄，需在阴凉处干燥百日，避免见日月光。）主治惊痫寒热，热盛狂痉，除邪祟鬼魅。治疗小儿百病，各种痫证热盛口噤不开，成人狂癫，中风失音。久服安魂定魄，令人不忘。得牡丹、菖蒲，利耳目。新生儿去惊邪，辟恶气。（取一大豆大小，细研和熟蜜以棉蘸之，令婴儿吮吸，一日服完。）

獭肝：味甘、咸，气微热。有毒。主治鬼疰尸劳一门相染者，火炙末和方寸匕，日再服。又治蛊毒，却鱼鲠，止久嗽，烧服之。肉疗疫气瘟病，又牛马时行病，又治水气胀满。胆主治明目，亦入点药中。屎主治鱼脐疮，研敷之。
腽肭脐：味咸，气大热。无毒。（酒浸一日，微火上炙令香入药。欲验其真，取置睡犬傍，犬忽惊跳若狂。又腊月冲风处置盂，水浸之不冻。）主治鬼气湿疰，梦与鬼交，鬼魅狐魅。心腹痛，中恶邪气，宿血结块，癖羸瘦。暖腰膝，助阳气。治脐腹积冷，精衰脾胃劳极。
笔头尖：气微寒。（年久使之者良。）主治小便不通，小便数难，阴肿中恶，脱肛淋漓，烧灰水服之。交婚多茎痿，取灰，酒服之。
Longgu (Fossilized Bones and Teeth): Sweet in flavor, neutral in qi, slightly cold. Yang nature. Non-toxic. (Synergistic with Renshen [Ginseng Root] and Niuhuang [Calculus Bovis]. Incompatible with Gan Zao [Jujube Fruit], Shu Jiao [Sichuan Pepper], and Lishi [Kaolinite].) Those with blue-white color are superior; those possessing all five colors are even better; black ones are inferior. Indicated for Xinfu Guizhu (chronic wasting disease caused by evil spirits), Jingwu Laomei (diseases caused by demons), cough with reverse flow of qi, dysentery with pus and blood, hematuria, epistaxis, hematemesis, women's leukorrhea or metrorrhagia, hard masses in the abdomen (Zhen Jianjie). For pediatric heat-induced convulsions and epilepsy, it stops nocturnal emission and seminal leakage, and urinary incontinence. It treats intestinal abscesses, internal ulcers, and genital sores, stops night sweats, and reduces urination frequency. Add to formulas for patients who startle easily during sleep and have chaotic dreams. It calms the Shen (Spirit), stabilizes Hun and Po (ethereal and corporeal souls), secures essence, astringes the intestines. For pediatric umbilical ulcers that fail to heal, calcine to ash, grind finely, and apply externally. Chi (Teeth): (Synergistic with Renshen and Niuhuang. Incompatible with Shigao [Gypsum Fibrosum].) Indicates pediatric and adult convulsions with fever, mania and running about, Qi stagnation in the chest, dyspnea, various spasms, chills and fever in the bones of adults, and kills demonic toxins. Jiao (Horn): Indicates convulsions and twitching, high fever like fire, abdominal hardness, and hot diarrhea.
Xiangya (Ivory): Neutral in qi, non-toxic. Indicates foreign bodies such as iron or debris embedded in flesh. Scrape into powder, mix finely with water, and apply to wounds; also removes splinters. For thorns in the throat, take with water; old toothbrush fragments are especially effective. Also treats urinary retention when decocted raw. For polyuria, take calcined ash. The gallbladder of the elephant is located on different legs according to the seasons: left leg before spring, right leg before summer, left leg after autumn, right leg after winter. Indicates eye diseases; mix with milk and instill into eyes, or mix with water and apply to swellings. Calcine the small transverse bone on the chest, take with wine, to enable swimming.
Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis): Bitter in flavor, neutral and cool in qi. Slightly toxic, some say non-toxic. (Renshen acts as its guide; incompatible with Longgu, Dihuang [Rehmanniae Radix], Longdancao [Gentianae Radix], and Changshan [Dichroae Radix]. Incompatible with Niuxi [Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix] and Ganqi [Lacquer Resin]. Authentic product is light, layered, easily peeled, slightly brittle; when rubbed on fingernails, yellow color penetrates the nail. "Sheng Huang" (spontaneously expelled) is best; followed by horn, heart, liver/gallbladder calculi. Dry in shade for 100 days, avoiding sunlight and moonlight.) Indicates convulsions and epilepsy with cold-heat alternations, severe heat causing mania and spasms, expels evil influences. Treats various pediatric diseases, heat-type epilepsy with jaw stiffness, adult mania, stroke with aphasia. Long-term use calms the soul and prevents forgetfulness. Combined with Mudanpi [Moutan Cortex] and Shichangpu [Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma], benefits ears and eyes. For newborns, dispels evil qi. (Take size of a soybean, grind fine, mix with cooked honey, dip cotton, let infant suck, finish within one day.)
Niujiao (Bovine Horn): Bitter in flavor, warm in qi, astringent in nature, non-toxic. (Calcine to charcoal retaining properties.) Take with wine. Indicates blood stasis pain, menorrhagia in women. Suijie (Bone Marrow): Sweet, tonifies center, fills marrow, prolongs life. Dan (Gallbladder): Bitter, very cold, suitable for pills, clears heart/abdominal heat/thirst, moistens dry mouth, benefits eyes. Rou (Meat): Sweet, indicates thirst, stops hiccups/diarrhea, harmonizes middle, tonifies Qi, nourishes spleen/stomach, reduces edema. Chi (Teeth): Indicates pediatric bovine-type epilepsy. Niao (Urine) of yellow castrated bull or black ox: Indicates edema, abdominal distension, leg fullness, promotes urination. Take 3 sheng, collect fresh urine immediately in a copper vessel.
Ejiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin): Sweet and acrid, neutral and slightly warm. Thin flavor, strong aroma, Yang nature. Non-toxic. Enters Hand Taiyin Lung, Foot Shaoyin Kidney, and Foot Jueyin Liver meridians. (Incompatible with Dahuang [Rhei Radix et Rhizoma]; Shuyu [Dioscoreae Rhizoma] guides it; beneficial when heated. Made from cow or donkey hide boiled in Dong'e well water.) Indicates internal bleeding due to exhaustion, chills resembling malaria, lower back/abdominal pain, limb soreness, lower abdominal pain. Stops dysentery, nourishes Liver Qi, benefits Lung Metal to calm asthma. For extreme Lung deficiency with purulent bloody sputum, this is essential for tonification. Also treats vaginal bleeding, calms fetus; essential for unstable fetus due to Blood deficiency. Long-term use lightens the body and tonifies Qi.
Lurong (Deer Antler without Hair): Sweet and sour. Some say bitter and acrid, warm in qi. Non-toxic. (Superior if unbroken and blood not drained; potency lies in blood. Best shape resembles small purple eggplant. Do not use too tender; 4-5 cun long, tips red like agate are best. Dry in shade. Do not sniff; roast with butter.) Indicates abnormal uterine bleeding, hematuria, breaks up stagnant blood in abdomen, disperses stone strangury and carbuncles, clears heat in bones, nourishes bones, calms fetus, directs Qi downward. Treats chills/fever, convulsions, consumption resembling malaria, emaciation. Limb soreness, back/spine pain, knee weakness, frequent urination, seminal emission, menorrhagia with white discharge. Tonifies Qi, strengthens will, promotes tooth growth, prevents aging. Jiao (Horn): Salty, warm. (Zhuzhong [Eucommiae Cortex] guides it; harvest in July.) Indicates malignant sores, expels evil Qi, stagnant blood in yin region, lower abdominal urgency/pain, back pain, traumatic injury with bad blood/hematuria. Lightens body, tonifies Qi, strengthens sinews/bones, repairs severe injuries. For women dreaming of sexual intercourse with ghosts, take powder with clear wine to expel demonic essence. If patient denies ghost possession, take horn powder with water to induce truth-telling. Sui (Marrows): Pungent and sweet, warm. Indicates trauma severing pulses, tendon spasm, cough with reverse flow, taken with wine. Decoct with Dihuang juice to make paste for filling marrow. Baijiao (Deer Antler Gelatin): Sweet, neutral and warm. Non-toxic. (Beneficial when heated; incompatible with Dahuang. Made by boiling deer antlers. Also known as Lujiao Jiao.) Indicates trauma and consumption, lower back pain, emaciation. Tonifies center and Qi, treats female amenorrhea/infertility, stops pain, calms fetus. Treats hematemesis, hematochezia, metrorrhagia with white discharge, fractures. Long-term use lightens body and prolongs life.
Mizhi (Elk Fat): Pungent, warm. Non-toxic. Indicates carbuncles, malignant sores, necrotic tissue, cold-damp bi syndrome, limb rigidity/retraction. Head swelling/qi, opens interstices. Avoid contact with genitals to prevent impotence. Jiao (Horn): Sweet, indicates bi syndrome, stops bleeding, tonifies deficiency/consumption, benefits Qi, fills marrow, warms waist/knees, strengthens Yang. Lu Rong (Antler tip) is best.
Xiong Zhi (Bear Fat): Sweet, slightly cold. Some say slightly warm, non-toxic. (Harvest in November from back fat, available in cold months.) Indicates wind-bi with numbness/tendon spasm, organ accumulations, chills/fever/emaciation, scalp sores/alopecia. Long-term use strengthens will, reduces hunger, lightens body. Contraindicated for chronic disease patients as it may become incurable. Dan (Gallbladder): Bitter, cold. (Incompatible with Fangji [Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix] and Dihuang.) Indicates epidemic febrile diseases turning to jaundice, pediatric convulsions/five types of malnutrition parasites. Kills parasites, treats malignant sores. Applied to chronic hemorrhoids until healed; highly effective.
Shexiang (Moschus): Pungent, warm. Non-toxic. (Harvest at Spring Equinox; fresh is better.) Expels evil Qi, kills demonic entities, treats warm malaria/toxins/epilepsy. Removes three worms, treats acute poisoning by evil Qi, sudden abdominal pain/distension, phlegm-fluid obstruction, wind toxicity. Facilitates difficult labor/miscarriage, treats snake venom.
Xijiao (Rhino Horn): Bitter, sour, salty. Some say sweet and pungent, cold in qi. Non-toxic. (Songzhi [Pini Resina] guides it; incompatible with Leiwanyan [Polyporus Umbellatus]. Use male, raw, black horns, not soaked/boiled. Wrap in paper, keep in bosom to warm, then crush for ease. Grind tip first. Salt is strictly forbidden.) Indicates hundred toxins, demonic miasma, kills Gouwen [Veratrum nigrum], Zhenyu [Poisonous bird feathers], snake venom. Resolves mountain/stream toxins, dispels confusion/sleep paralysis. Treats Shanghan/Wenyi (epidemic febrile diseases), headache/restlessness, high fever/mania, stroke aphasia, pediatric wind-heat convulsions. Treats back carbuncles, breaks blood/pus, calms Shen, stops agitation, suppresses Liver, brightens eyes. Long-term use lightens body. Danxi said: Yang nature, moving/scattering action. Use after smallpox to scatter residual toxins. Contraindicated if no residual toxin, or in Blood deficiency/dry-heat. Deer antlers and rhino horns contain the most potent energy.
Lingyangjiao (Saiga Antelope Horn): Salty and bitter, cold in qi. Non-toxic, Wood element, enters Jueyin Liver meridian. (Many nodes, round sharp tip, deep curve, purple with fine scratches.) Brightens eyes, tonifies Qi, raises Yin, removes bad blood/parasites, wards off insect toxins/evil omens, calms Heart Qi, prevents nightmares. Treats Shanghan/epidemic chills/fever, heat in skin/muscles, warm wind toxins in bones. Dispels evil Qi, nightmares, mania, pediatric convulsions. Treats bone/joint/arm/shin wind-spasm, limited mobility, wandering pain, take with wine infusion; spine/shin bones are excellent. "Wind comes from Tiger," thus treats wind. Baorou (Leopard Meat): Sour, neutral. Non-toxic. Harmonizes five Zang organs, repairs severe injuries, lightens body, benefits Qi. Long-term use improves cold/heat tolerance. Fat mixed with hair-growth paste promotes hair growth overnight. Teeth/bones are extremely hard, often faked as Buddha teeth.
Baima Jing (Stallion Penis): Salty and sweet, neutral. Non-toxic. (Dry in shade for 100 days.) Indicates trauma severing pulses, erectile dysfunction. Strengthens will, benefits Qi, builds muscle, promotes fertility. Eyes indicate convulsions, abdominal fullness/malaria, kill ghosts. Xuanti (Hoof) indicates convulsions/twitching, lactation difficulty, epistaxis, internal bleeding/metrorrhagia. Ward off evil ghosts/toxins. Teeth indicate pediatric convulsions, taken with water rub. Niao (Urine): Pungent and slightly salty. Indicates thirst, breaks mass accumulation. Mougou Ynjing (Male Dog Penis): Salty, neutral. Non-toxic. (Harvest June Dog Days, dry in shade 100 days.) Indicates trauma, impotence, increases strength/fertility, treats twelve female leukorrhea disorders. Dan (Gallbladder) brightens eyes, taken with wine or instilled. Apply to crusts/malignant sores. Skull stops bleeding from metal wounds, apply ash. Smoke for osteomyelitis/fish-eye sores. Bai Gouxue (White Dog Blood): Salty. Indicates epilepsy onset/ghost attack, drink 1 sheng hot blood, apply to body. Rou (Meat): Salty and sour, warm. Harmonizes Zang organs, repairs injuries, strengthens Yang, lightens body. Yellow is best, white/black secondary. Contraindicated in Yin deficiency with fever. Most modern deficiency is Yin deficiency; using this as tonic is harmful. Tunluan (Pig Testes): Sweet, warm. Non-toxic. (Dry in shade, store properly.) Indicates convulsions/epilepsy, demonic toxins. Resolves chills/fever/Buntun, five stranguries, evil Qi spasms. Xuanti (Hoof) treats five hemorrhoids, hidden intestinal heat/intestinal abscess. Four feet treat traumatic wounds, promote lactation. Dan (Gallbladder): Bitter and salty. Treats Shanghan heat/thirst, constipation; inserted anally for relief. Infant head sores: apply juice. Rou (Meat): Sweet and salty, excessive intake causes rapid obesity/wind. Gan (Liver): Female vulvar itching/pain; insert hot liver internally to extract parasites.
Yezhu Huang (Wild Boar Gallstone): Pungent and sweet, neutral. Non-toxic. (Three-year-old boars have stones; take with water.) Treats metal wounds, stops bleeding/promotes healing. Epilepsy/demonic toxins. Zhi (Fat): For lactating women, refine finely, take one spoon with one cup wine, three times daily.
Tagan (Otter Liver): Sweet and salty, slightly warm. Toxic. Indicates corpse-possession contagious to family. Roast, powder, take 1 cubic inch twice daily. Treats gu poison, fishbone impaction, chronic cough, take calcined. Meat treats epidemics/cattle-mare diseases, water-distension. Dan (Gallbladder) brightens eyes, used in eye drops. Shu (Rat): Slightly warm. Induces abortion/easy delivery, carry during labor or take ash.
Wanaqi (Sea Cucumber Genital Organ): Salty, very hot. Non-toxic. (Soak in wine 1 day, roast lightly. Verify authenticity: place near sleeping dog, dog jumps wildly; or place in bowl in December wind, water does not freeze.) Indicates ghost Qi/damp-possession, dreaming of sex with ghosts, heart/abdominal pain, evil Qi, blood stasis masses, phlegm-emaciation. Warms waist/knees, assists Yang Qi.
