Bone-steaming, [missing character, likely referring to labor heat], Fu Lian (repeated infection), Corpse-attacking (Shi Zhu), Labor-attacking (Lao Zhu), Insect-attacking, Heat-attacking, Cold-attacking, Food-attacking, Ghost-attacking, etc., are all called "Chuan Shu" (Transmitting Corpse Disease). The term "Zhu" (Attacking) implies pouring or transmitting; the disease transmits from person to person above to below, resembling previous cases, hence it is called "Zhu". Its variations include twenty-two types, thirty-six types, or ninety-nine types. Generally, it causes alternating chills and fever, night sweats, dreams of sexual intercourse with ghosts, seminal emission and turbid discharge, dry and erect hair. There may be masses in the abdomen; or small nodules on both sides behind the head, connected in several numbers, gathering or dispersing, accompanied by a depressed and silent demeanor, coughing with phlegm; or coughing up pus and blood, resembling symptoms of Lung萎 (Fei Wei - Lung Atrophy) and Lung Abscess (Fei Yong). There may be abdominal diarrhea, emaciation and exhaustion, unable to support oneself. Accumulating over months and years, it leads to death. After death, it still transmits to others, leading to the extinction of the family line. Furthermore, there are Flying Corpse, Escaping Corpse, Cold Corpse, Dead Corpse, and Corpse-attacking, known as the Five Corpses. Symptoms of attachment at various levels, where the patient's suffering is unknown and general malaise pervades the body, are caused by harboring various evil spirits that harm humans. Examined according to the Three Causes (Internal, External, Non-internal/External), internally it is not caused by the Seven Emotions, externally it is not invaded by the Four Qi (Wind, Cold, Summer-heat, Dryness); although it seems to belong to non-internal/external causes, due to its diverse manifestations and migratory transmission, it is difficult to predict. Therefore, from ancient times to the present, fewer than one in ten patients recover from this disease. Claims regarding Fox Bone, Otter Liver, Heavenly Skull Cap, and Bronze Mirror Nose are merely theories without proven efficacy. Only early moxibustion on Gohuangshu (BL43) and Cui’s Four Flower Acupoints yields results half the time, though even then, it cannot save the critically ill. The so-called five-zang labor diseases and twenty-four types of steaming disorders do not go beyond the scope of Zhai disease mentioned earlier. Detailed investigation is required, and the prescription treatment is largely similar.
