Various types of Lin syndrome (stranguria with painful and dribbling urination) in children are related to the Kidney and Bladder. The Bladder and Kidney are exterior-interiorly paired, both governing water metabolism. Water enters the Small Intestine, descends to the Bao (uterus/lower jiao urinary area), and flows through the yin channels to become urine. If the fluids within the Bladder stagnate internally, causing the water passages to be obstructed and accumulating in the Bao, heat causes astringency and pain, thereby leading to dysfunction of the water passages, resulting in scanty, dribbling urination; hence it is called "Lin". Its manifestations include small amounts of urine output, urgency and pain in the lower abdomen radiating to the umbilicus. There are Stone Lin, Qi Lin, and Blood Lin; although there are five names in total, they all generally belong to Heat patterns.
The method for treating Lin syndrome involves using Jinsha San (Golden Sand Powder) which yields immediate results. Decoctions such as Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Poria Decoction), Mutong San (Akebia Decoction), Bazheng San (Eight-Righteousness Decoction), and Daochi San (Guide Out Redness Decoction) can also be administered, referencing the medication principles used for adult internal medicine.
