(Treats carbuncles and back sores, unnamed swellings and toxic masses, ding sores, rat-like chains [lymphadenitis], horse-knife [scrofula], scrofula, purple sores, red threads, crow-flame leaking eyes, leg blood and qi stagnation, internal and external sores, fish-mouth and groin abscesses, yam knot [syphilitic nodes], metal wounds and cudgel injuries, snake and scorpion bites, tiger, dog, or human injuries, stubborn sores with long-term pus and blood discharge, myriad types of ulcerated sores, pain in the four limbs caused by wind-cold-phlegm-dampness, breast lumps and breast cancer. For those not yet ruptured, wash with green onion and pepper decoction; for those already ruptured, wash with decoction and then apply the plaster. If the condition is severe at the onset, cut off the center of the plaster, leaving the head open for ventilation; there is no need to peel it off completely. One piece of plaster can cure one type of toxicity. Avoid exposure to fire; must be melted using a double-boiler method.)
Manis pentadactyla scales (one whole animal or one jin of cleaned scales) Viscum coloratum (remove roots and slice into shreds) Wild hemp root Xanthium sibiricum herb (including roots and leaves) Violae Yedoensis Herba
Fresh herbs are preferred. Use twelve jin of pure sesame oil. First, fry the Manis pentadactyla scales in four jin of oil until charred. Soak the remaining eight jin of oil with the other herbs. Soak for seven days in winter, five days in spring and autumn (text incomplete, inferred). Remove herbs, press to extract juice, mix with remaining oil, simmer slowly over low heat until it forms beads when dropped in water. Add litharge, stir evenly to form the plaster.
For back sores that fail to rise or suppurate, this indicates deficiency of yang qi. Twist mulberry branches into strips, ignite them, extinguish the flame, and moxa-burn the affected area for a moment. Three times daily.
Realgar Cinnabaris Dragon's Blood Myrrh (each one qian) Moschus (two fen)
Grind the above five ingredients into fine powder. Roll into thick incense sticks using cotton paper, approximately one chi long. Wrap three fen of medicine inside each stick and secure it. Moisten thoroughly with pure sesame oil. Ignite and burn around the sore, starting from the outer edge of the erythema, slowly circling the wound, gradually moving the incense stick towards the center of the sore. This is referred to as "from outside to inside." It helps guide out toxic vapors. This is the manual technique. The medicinal vapor emerges from the fire head, penetrates deeply into the sore, and the toxin disperses with the qi. Use five to seven sticks per session; as the condition subsides, gradually reduce the number. After fumigation, immediately apply the following dressing.
Plantago asiatica Herb Achyranthes bidentata Root (Text unclear, possibly missing character) Chrysanthemi Flos Paederiae scandens Herb
Take equal parts of these four fresh herbs, pound them together until mushy. Add aged small flour and a little sublimated salt. Mix into a thick paste. Apply to the sore, leaving a central opening. Use alone.
