制西瓜硝
觅上号头藤西瓜，或一个或二个，用稻柴垫好，放在干燥厨内，立冬日将瓜挖去腹中穣

去七分，皮上肉剩三发，每瓜用皮硝二斤或半斤，看瓜之大小酌用。盖好用线络住，悬向背
阴屋檐下，至冷冻之期，其硝自尽出瓜外，颜色如霜，用刷帚轻轻拂下，以盘盛之包好，至

共同研成粉末，用黄酒调拌敷于患处。如果疮面上有血，不可使用石菖蒲，恐怕破坏疮皮，应当先用前四种药材敷之，然后再将石菖蒲粉末敷在表面，覆盖四周，并用薄纸隔开。凡是敷粉末药物，必须温热，才能使药气透入。如果变干，再更换湿润的药物敷上。如果四周黑晕不退，疮口都没有血色，此人必定是服用凉药太过，不可突然使用黄龙散，因为他的肌肤肌肉尚未坏死，恐怕黄龙散药力过猛，敷上后更加痛苦，可以在本方中加入肉桂、当归，以唤醒死血，一旦血液浮现在表面，就除去这两味药，只用本方治疗。如果疼痛不止，可以取酒泡过的乳香、没药，用瓦器盛放火上，等待溶化，趁热倒入药中，调匀涂抹，疼痛立刻停止。如果疮口有突起的息肉状肉芽，应当在本方中加入南星，用姜汁和酒调涂即可脱落，这是因为胃受风邪的缘故。或者有接近热证的病症，可以合用洪宝丹，用葱汁、清茶一同调敷。如果遇到阴寒病症，可以合用黄龙散调好酒敷之。
制西瓜硝
寻找大号头藤西瓜，一个或两个，用稻草垫好，放在干燥的厨房里，立冬那天将瓜挖去中间的瓤，去掉七分，皮上的肉剩下三分，每个瓜用皮硝二斤或半斤，根据瓜的大小酌情使用。最好用线络住，悬挂在背阴屋檐下，到冷冻的时候，硝自然全部从瓜中析出，颜色像霜一样，用刷帚轻轻拂下，用盘子盛好包起来，每隔三五天取一次，到春天时将瓜内剩余的硝安好，等到立冬，用新鲜瓜盛装，再加硝半斤或一斤，仍旧悬挂好。等到皮外飞出取出，如此两次，中间的硝也不必再飞。可以治疗喉癣、喉疳等各种火症，溃烂者吹药不痛。外皮飞出的名叫银粉雪，其功效可与紫雪相当。

Grind into powder. Mix with yellow wine for external application to the affected area. If there is blood on the sore surface, do not use Acorus Tatarinowii Rhizome, as it may break the skin. First apply the other four ingredients. Then apply Acorus Tatarinowii Rhizome powder on the surface, covering the surroundings, separated by thin paper. When applying powder medicines, they must be warm to allow medicinal qi to penetrate. If dry, replace with wet application. If the black halo around does not recede and the sore has no color, the patient likely took too much cooling medicine. Do not suddenly use Huanglong San, as the flesh is not yet necrotic; Huanglong San is too harsh and may cause more pain. Add Cinnamon Twig and Angelica Sinensis to revive dead blood. Once blood surfaces, remove these two and treat with the base formula. Prepared Watermelon Saltpeter
Select large-headed vine watermelons, one or two. Pad with rice straw and place in a dry kitchen. On the day of Start of Winter, hollow out the center pulp, removing seven-tenths, leaving three-tenths of the flesh on the rind. Use two jin or half a jin of Mirabilitum (Natrii Sulfas) per melon, depending on size. Tie securely with thread and hang under an eave in a shady spot. During freezing periods, the saltpeter will naturally exude from the melon, appearing frost-like. Gently brush off with a broom, collect in a plate, wrap, and store.
