论曰五脏六腑精气，皆上注于目，诸脉之所属也，伤寒瘥后，余毒未尽，内乘于肝，邪
热上冲，血脉壅滞，故令眼目赤痛，甚者成疮，或生翳膜，遮障瞳人，治宜凉肝经以消热毒。
治伤寒后热毒风壅攻冲，眼目昏暗疼痛。羚羊角汤方
羚羊角屑 决明子 芎 羌活（去芦头） 石膏（碎各一两） 柴胡（去苗） 黄芩
（去黑心） 人参（各半两）
上八味，粗捣筛，每服三钱匕，水一盏，竹叶三七片，煎至六分，去滓温服，早晚食后
各一。

上九味，捣罗为末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大，每服食后米饮下二十丸。
治伤寒后肝气实热，目中碜痛，或生翳昏暗。犀角汤方
犀角屑（三分） 瞿麦穗 黄芩（去黑心） 黄连（去须） 木通（锉） 栀子仁 大
黄（锉炒） 车前子（各半两） 人参（一两）
上九味，粗捣筛，每服三钱匕，水一盏，入竹叶三七片，煎至六分，去滓温服，早晚食
后各一。
治伤寒后热气上冲，目生疮翳。洗眼秦皮汤方
秦皮（一两） 竹叶（一握） 防风（去叉） 菊花 葳蕤（各半两） 蕤仁（去壳研

治伤寒后肝虚目暗，视物不明，或见黑花。防风汤方

芦头各一两） 细辛（去苗叶） 菊花（各半两）
上九味，粗捣筛，每服五钱匕，水一盏半，煎至一盏，去滓温服，早晚食后各一。
论曰：五脏六腑的精气，都上注于目（眼睛），这是诸脉所归属的部位。伤寒病痊愈后，余毒未尽，内侵于肝（肝脏），邪热向上冲逆，导致血脉壅滞不通，因此出现眼目红赤疼痛，严重的甚至形成疮疡，或者生成翳膜（眼球表面的浑浊物），遮蔽瞳孔，治疗应当清泻肝经以消除热毒。
治伤寒病愈后，热毒与风邪壅盛攻冲，导致眼目昏暗疼痛的方剂：羚羊角汤方
羚羊角屑、决明子、川芎、羌活（去芦头）、石膏（打碎，各一两）、柴胡（去苗）、黄芩（去黑心）、人参（各半两）
以上八味药，粗捣筛过，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，加入竹叶三十至七片，煎煮至六分满，滤去药渣，温服，早晚饭后各一次。
治伤寒病后，毒气上攻，眼中生出浮翳且红赤疼痛的方剂：黄连汤方
黄连（去须）、黄芩（去黑心）、升麻（各一两）、甘草（炙制三分）、朴硝（研细半两）
以上五味药，粗捣筛过，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，加入竹叶三十至七片，煎煮至六分满，滤去药渣，温服，早晚饭后各一次。

连翘、漏芦（去芦头）、黄连（去须）、升麻、麻黄（去根节）、白蔹、大黄（锉碎炒制）、甘草（炙制锉碎）、朴硝（研细，各一两）
以上九味药，粗捣筛过，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，加入竹叶三十至七片，煎煮至六分满，滤去药渣，温服，早晚饭后各一次。
治伤寒热病后，眼部各种疾病的方剂：地肤子丸方
地肤子、决明子、沙参、羚羊角屑（各一两）、秦皮、菊花、枳壳（去瓤麸炒）、大黄（锉碎炒制，各一两）
以上八味药，捣碎研磨成末，用炼蜜调和制成丸药，如梧桐子大小，每次饭后用温水送服二十丸。
治伤寒病后，眼目昏暗，红赤疼痛生疮的方剂：决明丸方
石决明、黄连（去须）、车前子、细辛（去苗叶）、枳壳（去瓤麸炒，各一两）、栀子仁、大黄（锉碎炒制）、黄芩（去黑心）、羚羊角屑（各半两）
以上九味药，捣碎研磨成末，用炼蜜调和制成丸药，如梧桐子大小，每次饭后用煎好的竹叶汤送服二十丸。
治伤寒热病后，眼暗有翳，以及红涩疼痛的方剂：麦门冬丸方
麦门冬（去心焙干）、泽泻、茺蔚子、枸杞子（各一两）、细辛（去苗叶半两）、生干地黄（焙干）、枳壳（去瓤麸炒）、石决明（刮净）、黄连（去须，各一两）
以上九味药，捣碎研磨成末，用炼蜜调和制成丸药，如梧桐子大小，每次饭后用米饮送服二十丸。
治伤寒病后肝气实热，眼中碜痛（异物感疼痛），或生翳昏暗的方剂：犀角汤方
犀角屑（三分）、瞿麦穗、黄芩（去黑心）、黄连（去须）、木通（锉碎）、栀子仁、大黄（锉碎炒制）、车前子（各半两）、人参（一两）
以上九味药，粗捣筛过，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，加入竹叶三十至七片，煎煮至六分满，滤去药渣，温服，早晚饭后各一次。
治伤寒病后热气上冲，目中生疮翳的外洗方：洗眼秦皮汤方
秦皮（一两）、竹叶（一握）、防风（去叉枝）、菊花、葳蕤（各半两）、蕤仁（去壳研细一两）、甘草（生用三分）
以上七味药，粗捣筛过，立即用水二升，煎取一升，用绵布过滤去渣，放温后洗眼，不拘时间。
治伤寒病后肝虚导致目暗，视物不明，或见黑花（眼前出现黑影）的方剂：防风汤方
防风（去叉枝）、川芎、甘草（炙制锉碎）、人参、茯神（去木）、独活（去芦头）、前胡（去芦头，各一两）、细辛（去苗叶）、菊花（各半两）
以上九味药，粗捣筛过，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎煮至一盏，滤去药渣，温服，早晚饭后各一次。
Commentary states: The essence and qi of the five zang organs and six fu organs all ascend to pour into the eyes (Mù, eyes), which is where all meridians converge. After convalescence from Cold Damage (Shānghán, a category of febrile diseases caused by cold pathogenic factors), residual toxins remain uneliminated, invading internally within the Liver (Gān, liver). Evil heat rushes upward, causing stagnation and obstruction in the blood vessels, resulting in redness and pain in the eyes. In severe cases, sores may form, or nebulae (yì mó, opacities on the eye surface) may develop, obscuring the pupil. Treatment should focus on cooling the Liver meridian to dissipate heat and toxicity.
Formula for treating turbid vision and pain in the eyes caused by the attack of heat-toxin and wind-pathogen after convalescence from Cold Damage: Lingyangjiao Tang (Antelope Horn Decoction)
Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn shavings), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen), Xiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong Rhizome), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix [deprived of rhizome head], Gypsum [crushed, each 1 liang], Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix [deprived of sprouts]), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix [deprived of black heart]), Renshen (Ginseng Radix [each 0.5 liang]).
The above eight herbs are coarsely pounded and sieved. Each dose consists of 3 qianbi, boiled with one zhan of water and 30-7 leaves of Zhuye (Bambusae Folium) until reduced to 60%. Strain and take warm, once in the morning and once in the evening after meals.
Formula for treating floating nebulae and red painful eyes caused by the upward attack of toxic qi after Cold Damage: Huanglian Tang (Coptis Decoction)
Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma [deprived of roots]), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix [deprived of black heart]), Shengma ( Cimicifugae Rhizoma, each 1 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root [roasted, 3 fen]), Puxiao (Mirabilite [pulverized, 0.5 liang]).
The above five herbs are coarsely pounded and sieved. Each dose consists of 3 qianbi, boiled with one zhan of water and 30-7 leaves of Zhuye (Bambusae Folium) until reduced to 60%. Strain and take warm, once in the morning and once in the evening after meals.
Formula for treating red painful eyes and formation of obstructive nebulae caused by the upward attack of toxic qi after Cold Damage: Lianqiao Tang (Forsythia Decoction)
Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Loulu (Euphorbiae Humifusae Radix [deprived of rhizome head]), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma [deprived of roots]), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba [deprived of root joints]), Bailian (Paeoniae Albae Radix), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma [cut and stir-fried], Gancao (Licorice Root [roasted and cut], Puxiao (Mirabilite [pulverized, each 1 liang]).
The above nine herbs are coarsely pounded and sieved. Each dose consists of 3 qianbi, boiled with one zhan of water and 30-7 leaves of Zhuye (Bambusae Folium) until reduced to 60%. Strain and take warm, once in the morning and once in the evening after meals.
Formula for treating various eye diseases after Cold Damage febrile disease: Difuzi Wan (Kochia Seed Pill)
Difuzi (Kochiae Semen), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen), Shashen (Adenophorae Radix), Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn shavings, each 1 liang), Qinpi (Fraxini Cortex), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus [deprived of pith and stir-fried with bran], Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma [cut and stir-fried, each 1 liang]).
The above eight herbs are pounded, ground into powder, and mixed with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills with warm water after meals.
Formula for treating turbid vision, red painful eyes, and sore formation after Cold Damage: Jueming Wan (Hematitum Pill)
Shijueming (Hematitum), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma [deprived of roots]), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma [deprived of sprouts and leaves], Zhike (Aurantii Fructus [deprived of pith and stir-fried with bran, each 1 liang]), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma [cut and stir-fried]), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix [deprived of black heart]), Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn shavings [each 0.5 liang]).
The above nine herbs are pounded, ground into powder, and mixed with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills with decocted Zhuye (Bambusae Folium) tea after meals.

Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Tuber [deprived of heart and baked], Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus), Gouqizi (Lycii Fructus, each 1 liang), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma [deprived of sprouts and leaves, 0.5 liang]), Shenggan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix [dried and baked]), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus [deprived of pith and stir-fried with bran]), Shijueming (Hematitum [scraped clean]), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma [deprived of roots, each 1 liang]).
The above nine herbs are pounded, ground into powder, and mixed with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills with rice drink after meals.
Formula for treating excess heat in the Liver after Cold Damage, causing gritty pain in the eyes, or formation of nebulae and dim vision: Xijiao Tang (Rhino Horn Decoction)
Xijiao Xie (Rhino Horn shavings, 3 fen), Qumai (Dianthi Herba), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix [deprived of black heart]), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma [deprived of roots]), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis [cut]), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma [cut and stir-fried]), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen, each 0.5 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 1 liang).
The above nine herbs are coarsely pounded and sieved. Each dose consists of 3 qianbi, boiled with one zhan of water and 30-7 leaves of Zhuye (Bambusae Folium) until reduced to 60%. Strain and take warm, once in the morning and once in the evening after meals.
External wash formula for treating sores and nebulae in the eyes caused by upward rushing of hot qi after Cold Damage: Xiyan Qinpi Tang (Eye-washing Fraxinus Decoction)
Qinpi (Fraxini Cortex, 1 liang), Zhuye (Bambusae Folium, one handful), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix [deprived of forks]), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Weirui (Polygonati Rhizoma, each 0.5 liang), Ruiren (Pruni Semen [shelled and pounded, 1 liang]), Gancao (Licorice Root [raw, 3 fen]).
The above seven herbs are coarsely pounded and sieved. Immediately boil with two sheng of water until reduced to one sheng. Filter through cotton cloth to remove dregs. Let cool to warm temperature and wash the eyes at any time.
Formula for treating dim vision and unclear vision, or seeing black flowers (floaters), due to Liver deficiency after Cold Damage: Fangfeng Tang (Saposhnikovia Decoction)
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix [deprived of forks]), Xiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong Rhizome), Gancao (Licorice Root [roasted and cut]), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood [deprived of wood], Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix [deprived of rhizome head]), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix [deprived of rhizome head, each 1 liang]), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma [deprived of sprouts and leaves]), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos, each 0.5 liang).
The above nine herbs are coarsely pounded and sieved. Each dose consists of 5 qianbi, boiled with one and a half zhan of water until reduced to one zhan. Strain and take warm, once in the morning and once in the evening after meals.
