论曰小儿眼胎赤者，是初生洗目不净，令秽汁浸渍于 中，使睑赤烂，至大不瘥，故云
胎赤眼也。
治小儿胎赤 烂。黄连丸方
黄连（去须一两） 防风（去叉） 龙胆（去土） 大黄（锉炒） 细辛（去苗叶各半
两）
上五味，捣罗为末，炼蜜丸如绿豆大，每服五丸至七丸。温熟水下日三，更量儿大小加
减。
治小儿眼胎赤，风毒所攻肿痛。升麻汤方
升麻 黄 （锉） 玄参 甘草（炙各半两） 犀角屑 防风（去叉） 蕤仁（汤浸去
皮研各
一分）
上七味，粗捣筛，每服一钱匕。以水七分，煎至四分，去滓分温二服，更量儿大小加减。
治小儿眼胎赤肿痛，上焦壅热。麦门冬汤方
麦门冬（去心焙） 犀角屑 芒硝 防风（去叉） 甘草（炙各半两） 旋复花（一分）
上六味，粗捣筛，每服一钱匕。水七分，煎至四分，去滓量儿大小分减温服，日四五。
治小儿眼胎赤，久不瘥。牛黄丸方
牛黄（一分细研） 黄连（半两去须） 决明子（一分） 蕤仁（一分汤浸去皮） 犀
角屑（半两
）龙脑（一钱细研）
上六味，捣罗为末，炼蜜和丸，如麻子大。每服以温水下五丸，日三四服，更量儿大小
，以意加减。
治小儿眼胎赤，及生疮怕见风日。方
龙脑（半钱细研） 蕤仁（一分汤浸去皮研） 杏仁（一两汤浸去皮尖双仁研）
上三味，滴少水，都细研如乳汁，每日三四度点之。
治小儿眼胎赤痒痛。方
龙脑（半钱细研） 桑叶（五两烧作灰）
上二味，水一升半，先煎桑叶灰，取半升，绵滤去滓。后入龙脑搅令匀，日三四上，少
点。
治小儿眼胎赤。龙脑煎方
龙脑（一钱） 盐绿（半两） 蕤仁（汤浸去皮一分）
上三味，都研令极细，以蜜调似面脂，用点眼，日三两上。
治小儿眼胎风赤烂，不以年月发歇，视物泪出，涩痛不可忍。黄连膏方
黄连（去须捣一两） 芦荟（研一分） 龙脑（一钱别研）
上三味，先将黄连芦荟，捣研罗为末，以新绵裹，用水一盏，于银器中，以重汤煮。候
药汁三分减二，即去药绵，入龙脑搅匀，以瓷瓶收，每日三两上点之。
治小儿眼胎赤，兼有翳膜。杏仁膏方
杏仁（去皮尖双仁研如膏一两） 腻粉（一钱） 盐绿 黄连末（各一分）
上四味，同研极细，以真酥调如膏，摊于铜碗内，以熟艾如鸡子大，掘小坑子，烧艾烟
出。便复铜碗熏之，勿令气泄，候烟尽，更研令匀，每取少许，以绵裹，用人乳汁浸一宿，
日三四度点之。
治小儿眼胎赤，经年月深远者。铜青散方
铜青 腻粉（各一钱） 龙脑（半钱） 干地龙（一条去土为末）
上四味，同研极细，每用半小豆许，点目 ，日一两度。
论述说：小儿患胎赤眼，是因为初生时清洗眼睛不干净，导致污秽汁液浸渍在眼中，使得眼睑红肿溃烂，直到长大也不能痊愈，所以称为胎赤眼。
治疗小儿胎赤溃烂的黄连丸方：
黄连（去须，一两）、防风（去叉）、龙胆（去土）、大黄（锉碎炒制）、细辛（去苗叶，各半两）。
以上五味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜制成如绿豆大小的丸剂，每次服用五丸到七丸。用温热的熟水送服，每日三次，并根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿胎赤，因风毒侵袭而肿痛。升麻汤方：
升麻、黄芩（锉碎）、玄参、甘草（炙，各半两）、犀角屑、防风（去叉）、蕤仁（热水浸泡去皮后研细，各一分）。
以上七味药，粗捣筛过，每次取一钱匕。用水七分，煎煮至四分，滤去药渣，分两次温服，并根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿胎赤肿痛，上焦壅滞有热。麦门冬汤方：
麦门冬（去心焙干）、犀角屑、芒硝、防风（去叉）、甘草（炙，各半两）、旋复花（一分）。
以上六味药，粗捣筛过，每次取一钱匕。用水七分，煎煮至四分，滤去药渣，根据患儿年龄大小酌情减量温服，每日四到五次。
治疗小儿胎赤，久治不愈。牛黄丸方：
牛黄（一分，细研）、黄连（半两，去须）、决明子（一分）、蕤仁（一分，热水浸泡去皮）、犀角屑（半两）、龙脑（一钱，细研）。
以上六味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜调和制成如芝麻大小的丸剂。每次用温水送服五丸，每日三到四次，并根据患儿年龄大小，酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿胎赤，以及生疮怕见风日。方：
龙脑（半钱，细研）、蕤仁（一分，热水浸泡去皮研细）、杏仁（一两，热水浸泡去皮尖及双仁后研细）。
以上三味药，滴入少量水，共同研磨成如乳汁般的液体，每日三四次点眼。
治疗小儿胎赤痒痛。方：
龙脑（半钱，细研）、桑叶（五两，烧成灰）。
以上二味药，用水一升半，先煎煮桑叶灰，取半升汁液，用绵布过滤去渣。然后加入龙脑搅匀，每日三四次，少量点眼。
治疗小儿胎赤。龙脑煎方：
龙脑（一钱）、盐绿（半两）、蕤仁（热水浸泡去皮，一分）。
以上三味药，共同研磨至极细，用蜂蜜调得像面脂一样，用来点眼，每日两到三次。
治疗小儿胎风赤烂，无论发病年月多久，时发时止，视物流泪，涩痛难忍。黄连膏方：
黄连（去须捣碎，一两）、芦荟（研细，一分）、龙脑（一钱，另研）。
以上三味药，先将黄连和芦荟捣研过筛成粉末，用新棉包裹，用水一盏，在银器中隔水加热煮。待药汁减少三分之二时，取出药棉，加入龙脑搅匀，装入瓷瓶保存，每日两到三次点眼。
治疗小儿胎赤，兼有翳膜。杏仁膏方：
杏仁（去皮尖双仁，研如膏，一两）、腻粉（一钱）、盐绿、黄连末（各一分）。
以上四味药，共同研磨至极细，用真酥油调成膏状，摊在铜碗内。取熟艾如鸡蛋大小，挖一个小坑，燃烧艾草产生烟雾。随即盖上铜碗熏蒸，不要漏气，待烟尽后，再研磨均匀。每次取少许，用棉包裹，用人乳汁浸泡一夜，每日三四次点眼。
治疗小儿胎赤，病程经年深远者。铜青散方：
铜青、腻粉（各一钱）、龙脑（半钱）、干地龙（一条，去土研末）。
以上四味药，共同研磨至极细，每次取半粒小豆大小的量，点入眼中，每日一次或两次。
Commentary states: Infantile congenital red eye (Tai Chi Yan) occurs because the eyes were not cleaned thoroughly at birth, allowing foul secretions to soak into the eyes, causing the eyelids to become red and ulcerated. If this condition persists until childhood without healing, it is termed "congenital red eye."
Formula for Coptis Pill (Huanglian Wan) to treat infantile congenital red eye with ulceration:
Coptidis Rhizoma (Huánglián) (remove rhizomes, 1 liang), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fángfēng) (remove branched roots), Gentianae Radix (Lóngdǎn) (remove soil), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dàhuáng) (cut and stir-fried), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xìxīn) (remove seedlings and leaves, each 0.5 liang).
The above five herbs are crushed, sieved into powder, and mixed with refined honey to form pills the size of mung beans. Administer 5 to 7 pills per dose. Take with warm, boiled water, three times daily. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
Decoction of Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma Tang) to treat infantile congenital red eye, swelling and pain caused by wind-toxin:
Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shēngmá), Scutellariae Radix (Huángqín) (cut), Scrophulariae Radix (Xuāncān), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gāncǎo) (honey-fried, each 0.5 liang), Cornu Rinocerontis (Xījiǎo) (shavings), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fángfēng) (remove branched roots), Prunus Persica Semen (Rúirén) (soaked in hot water, skin removed, ground, each 1 fen).
The above seven herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose consists of one qianbi (approx. 3-5g). Add 7 parts water, decoct until reduced to 4 parts. Strain and divide into two warm doses. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
Ophiopogonis Decoction (Maimendong Tang) to treat infantile congenital red eye with swelling and pain, and heat stagnation in the Upper Jiao:
Ophiopogonis Tuber (Màiméndōng) (remove heart, baked), Cornu Rinocerontis (Xījiǎo) (shavings), Natrii Sulfas (Mángxiāo), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fángfēng) (remove branched roots), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gāncǎo) (honey-fried, each 0.5 liang), Inulae Flos (Xuánjìnhuā) (1 fen).
The above six herbs are coarsely crushed and sieved. Each dose consists of one qianbi. Add 7 parts water, decoct until reduced to 4 parts. Strain and adjust the dose according to the child's age and size. Take warm, four to five times daily.
Bovis Calculus Pill (Niuhuang Wan) to treat infantile congenital red eye that has persisted for a long time:
Bovis Calculus (Niúhuáng) (1 fen, finely ground), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huánglián) (0.5 liang, remove rhizomes), Cassiae Semen (Juémíngzǐ) (1 fen), Prunus Persica Semen (Rúirén) (1 fen, soaked in hot water, skin removed), Cornu Rinocerontis (Xījiǎo) (shavings, 0.5 liang), Borneolum Syntheticum (Lóngnǎo) (1 qian, finely ground).
The above six herbs are crushed, sieved into powder, and mixed with refined honey to form pills the size of sesame seeds. Administer 5 pills per dose with warm water, three to four times daily. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
Formula for infantile congenital red eye, and sores sensitive to wind and sunlight:
Borneolum Syntheticum (Lóngnǎo) (0.5 qian, finely ground), Prunus Persica Semen (Rúirén) (1 fen, soaked in hot water, skin removed, ground), Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xìngrén) (1 liang, soaked in hot water, skin and tips removed, double-kernel removed, ground).
Add a small amount of water to the above three herbs and grind them together until they resemble milk. Apply to the eyes three to four times daily.
Formula for infantile congenital red eye with itching and pain:
Borneolum Syntheticum (Lóngnǎo) (0.5 qian, finely ground), Mori Folium (Sāngyè) (5 liang, burned to ash).
Add 1.5 sheng of water to the above two ingredients. First decoct the mulberry leaf ash, then take 0.5 sheng of the liquid. Filter through cotton cloth to remove dregs. Add borneol and stir well. Apply sparingly to the eyes three to four times daily.
Dragon Brain Decoction (Longnao Jian) for infantile congenital red eye:
Borneolum Syntheticum (Lóngnǎo) (1 qian), Viriditas Cupri (Yánlǜ) (0.5 liang), Prunus Persica Semen (Rúirén) (soaked in hot water, skin removed, 1 fen).
Grind the above three ingredients extremely fine. Mix with honey to a consistency similar to facial cream. Apply to the eyes two to three times daily.
Coptis Ointment (Huanglian Gao) for infantile wind-red eye ulceration, which recurs regardless of duration, accompanied by tearing upon vision, and unbearable astringent pain:
Coptidis Rhizoma (Huánglián) (remove rhizomes, crush, 1 liang), Aloe (Lúhuì) (ground, 1 fen), Borneolum Syntheticum (Lóngnǎo) (1 qian, separately ground).
First, crush and sieve the Coptis and Aloe into powder. Wrap in new cotton cloth. Place in a silver vessel with 1 sheng of water and heat over boiling water (double boiler). When the liquid reduces by two-thirds, remove the cotton bag containing the herbs. Add borneol and stir evenly. Store in a porcelain bottle. Apply to the eyes two to three times daily.
Armeniacus Ointment (Xingren Gao) for infantile congenital red eye with accompanying nebula (corneal opacity):
Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xìngrén) (skin and tips removed, double-kernel removed, ground into paste, 1 liang), Calomelas (Nìfěn) (1 qian), Viriditas Cupri (Yánlǜ), Coptidis Rhizoma Powder (Huánglián Mò) (each 1 fen).
Grind the above four ingredients extremely fine. Mix with genuine butter (Su) to form a paste. Spread in a copper bowl. Place a piece of prepared mugwort (Ai) the size of a chicken egg in a small pit and burn it to produce smoke. Immediately cover the copper bowl to fumigate the contents, ensuring no smoke escapes. After the smoke is exhausted, grind the mixture again until uniform. Take a small amount, wrap in cotton, soak in human breast milk overnight, and apply to the eyes three to four times daily.
Copper Green Powder (Tongqing San) for infantile congenital red eye with prolonged duration:
Viriditas Cupri (Tóngqīng), Calomelas (Nìfěn) (each 1 qian), Borneolum Syntheticum (Lóngnǎo) (0.5 qian), Earthworm (Dìlóng) (dried, 1 earthworm, remove soil, grind to powder).
Grind the above four ingredients extremely fine. Use an amount equivalent to half a small bean to apply to the eyes, once or twice daily.
