Discussion: The disease known as "Lou Xia" (Metrorrhagia/Leukorrhea with dripping discharge) refers to the continuous, dripping flow of menstrual blood. The Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) and Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) should release blood at appropriate times; if it flows out of season, it is like a leaking vessel, hence the name "Lou Xia". This is generally caused by Blood deficiency and Qi decline, which fail to restrain the blood, combined with intrauterine Blood stasis. Due to imbalance of Cold and Heat, the blood becomes corrupted. Its color may be red like bean juice, yellow like rotting melon, black like dried blood, blue-green like indigo, or white like pus and nasal mucus. These five colors correspond to the deficiency and damage of the Five Zang organs, leaking accordingly.
