上二十一味。将捣研药令极细，同诸药与地黄汁调如膏，瓷瓶盛分三瓶，每瓶约七分，
不欲令满，坐炉中砖上，四面用火，候瓶中药沸，即以柳枝搅，欲干旋添地黄汁尽为度。时
时抄看可丸乃止，候冷收药，以蜡纸盖头，勿令泄气，每食后含化一丸，如弹丸大、咽津，
日三夜一，十日觉，百日大效，初服药处净室一月，忌莱菔藕蒜，常食少生姜即速效。
治脑虚髭发枯悴，目暗。槐实膏方
槐实（去皮取黑者炒捣末一合） 马牙硝（研三钱） 生地黄（捣取自然汁一合） 酥

两）
上四味。以银石器盛地黄汁，文武火上，先下槐实末，次下马牙硝，不停手搅，常令如
鱼眼沸，候煎减一半，即下酥，更煎三二十沸，倾出置瓷合中，每临卧，以枣核大内鼻中，
取去枕，仰卧展足，脑中出恶水勿怪。
荣养髭发。槐桃膏方
瓦松（半生半烧灰） 铁粉（铧铁醋淬十遍捣研） 羊粪（半生半烧灰） 槐枝（细锉
各一两）
胡桃仁（一斤）
上五味。除瓦松等三味外，将胡桃仁与槐枝，捣作一团，填小瓶中令实，又取槐枝斫长
二寸，密插于瓶中，与瓶口齐，更取一瓶子，须盛得前药瓶子者，勘合然后穿地坑，陷空瓶
子与地面齐，其向上瓶子，即拥马粪火烧一宿。候冷开之，其向下瓶子中漏有油清，则取此
油，调前三味涂头，每日净洗再换药。
荣养髭发。汞蛭油方
汞（一两） 干水蛭（七枚为末）
上二味。以银三两作一小合，盛汞与水蛭，以蚯蚓土和泥固济。约半指浓，深埋在马粪
中，四十九日取出，化为黑油，用鱼胞作指袋，时蘸少许，拈髭上，其油自然倒行至髭根、
变黑。
荣养髭鬓，牢牙。乌金散方
草乌头（四两） 青盐（二两）
上二味。将青盐为末，同入藏瓶内，用瓦子一片盖，瓦上钻一窍，外用纸筋泥固济，仍
留元窍候干，用火 ，黑烟尽，青烟出为度，以新黄土罨一宿，取出为末。逐日未洗面前揩
牙，候洗面了方漱、日三。
荣养髭鬓。石榴浆方
每于五月内，拣取新生酸石榴东南枝上，平坐不侧大者，于顶上用箸札眼子，深一寸以
上，用水银半两，灌眼子内，更不封闭，从风日雨露，直至十月叶落尽，方取下。壳内尽成
水，每用以小猪胞代指，于汁内旋蘸捻之，随手以水濯，其色不落，可百日不变也。
荣养髭发。三物膏方
柳枝 桑枝 槐枝（各锉一升）
上三味。以水二斗，同煮至一斗，去滓入好盐一斤，熬成膏，瓷合盛，临卧揩牙。
荣养髭发。胡桃膏方
新小胡桃（三枚）
上一味和皮捣细，用乳汁二盏，于银石器内，文武火熬。竹篦搅成膏，每用时净洗髭发
，以笔蘸点髭发上。
论述说：肾主管骨髓，脑是髓汇聚的海，头发是脑的外在荣华表现，由髓所滋养。冲脉是经络之海，其浮行于体表的分支，沿着腹部运行，以荣养胡须和头发，坚固牙齿，补益血气。
三倍丸方
丹砂（研磨一两） 磁石（研磨二两） 陈曲（炒后研磨三两）
以上三味药。捣碎研磨成细末，过筛。另外取猪肾三只，去掉脂膜，用浓酒二升熬煮猪肾至烂熟，取出猪肾，保留酒液，用药末与酒调和，制成如绿豆大小的药丸。空腹时，用温酒或熟开水送服二十丸。
荣养胡须头发，坚固牙齿，补血气，改善面色，延年益寿，地黄丸方
生地黄（三十斤捣取汁液） 杏仁（三升去皮尖及双仁者，点入地黄汁研磨如膏状） 乌麻油（一升，点入地黄汁研磨绞取汁液） 胡桃瓤（一斤，同杏仁分别研磨） 大麻油（一升） 丁香 木香 牛膝（切片） 人参 白茯苓（去掉黑皮，各三两） 笺香 沉香（锉碎） 安息香（捣碎如棋子大小，水煮至烂熟，各二两） 无食子 诃黎勒皮（各五两） 柳枝皮（炙干） 盐花（各三两） 松脂（用布袋盛装，在汤中煮，选取质地精好的，自然融化出汤，冷却后自凝，如果不够洁白则更换布袋继续煮至极白，取八两） 龙脑（研磨一分） 白蜜（一升） 酥（一斤）
以上二十一味药。先将药物捣研至极细，同各种药料与地黄汁调成膏状，装入瓷瓶，分装为三瓶，每瓶约装七分满，不要装满。将瓶子坐在炉中的砖上，四面用火烘烤，等到瓶中药膏沸腾时，即用柳枝搅拌，欲干时随即添加地黄汁，直到加完为止。时常查看，可以制成丸子时停止，等冷却后收存药物，用蜡纸盖住瓶口，不要漏气。每次饭后含化一丸，如弹丸大小，咽下津液，每天三次，夜间一次，十天见效，一百天大效。初次服药处所在净室一个月，忌食莱菔、藕、蒜，常食少量生姜即可迅速见效。
治疗脑虚导致胡须头发枯悴，视力昏暗。槐实膏方
槐实（去皮取黑色者，炒后捣成末一合） 马牙硝（研磨三钱） 生地黄（捣取自然汁一合） 酥（炼过一两）
以上四味药。用银器或石器盛放生地黄汁，用文武火加热，先放入槐实末，其次放入马牙硝，不停手搅拌，常令其像鱼眼一样沸腾，等到煎减去一半，就放入酥，再煎三二十次沸腾，倒出置于瓷盒中。每次临睡前，取枣核大小的药膏纳入鼻中，取下枕头，仰卧伸展双脚，脑中流出恶水不要奇怪。
荣养胡须头发。槐桃膏方
瓦松（半生半烧成灰） 铁粉（用犁头铁醋淬十遍，捣研） 羊粪（半生半烧成灰） 槐枝（细锉，各一两） 胡桃仁（一斤）
以上五味药。除瓦松等三味外，将胡桃仁与槐枝捣作一团，填入小瓶中令其实心，又取槐枝砍成长二寸，紧密插入瓶中，与瓶口齐平。再取一个瓶子，必须能容纳前一个装药的瓶子，核对吻合后挖地坑，将空瓶子陷入地面齐平，上面放的那个瓶子，就用马粪火烧一整夜。等冷却打开，下面那个瓶子中漏出的清油，就取此油，调和前三味药涂抹头部，每天洗净后更换药物。
荣养胡须头发。汞蛭油方
汞（一两） 干水蛭（七枚，研成末）
以上两味药。用三两银制作一个小盒，盛放汞与水蛭，用蚯蚓土和泥密封固定。厚度约半指，深埋在马粪中，四十九天后取出，化为黑油，用鱼胞做成指套，时常蘸取少许，捻涂在胡须上，其油自然倒行至胡须根部，使胡须变黑。
荣养胡须鬓角，坚固牙齿。乌金散方
草乌头（四两） 青盐（二两）
以上两味药。将青盐研成末，一同放入藏瓶中，用一片瓦盖住，瓦上钻一个孔，外用纸筋泥密封固定，仍留原孔，待干燥后，用火煅烧，直到黑烟尽，青烟冒出为止，用新黄土覆盖一夜，取出研成末。每天未洗脸前揩擦牙齿，等洗完脸后再漱口，每天三次。
荣养胡须鬓角。石榴浆方
每当五月内，挑选新生酸石榴长在东南枝上的，坐得端正不倾斜的大果，在顶部用筷子扎眼洞，深度一寸以上，用水银半两，灌入眼洞内，不再封闭，任凭风吹日晒雨露，直到十月树叶落尽，才取下。壳内全变成水状，每次使用时用小猪膀胱代替手指，在汁液中旋转蘸取捻动，随手用水清洗，颜色不脱落，可百日不变。
荣养胡须头发。三物膏方
柳枝 桑枝 槐枝（各锉碎一升）
以上三味药。用水二斗，共同煮至一斗，去渣滓，加入好盐一斤，熬成膏状，用瓷盒盛装，临睡前揩擦牙齿。
荣养胡须头发。胡桃膏方
新小胡桃（三枚）
以上一味药，带皮捣细，用乳汁二盏，在银石器内，用文武火熬制。用竹篦搅拌成膏，每次使用时洗净胡须头发，用笔蘸取点涂在胡须头发上。
Commentary states: The Kidney governs the bone marrow, and the brain is the sea of marrow. Hair is the external splendor of the brain, nourished by the marrow. The Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) is the sea of the meridians; its branches floating outward follow the abdomen to nourish facial hair and scalp hair, strengthen teeth, and tonify blood and Qi.
Sanbei Wan (Triple Times Pill) Formula
Cinnabar (Danhsha, 丹砂, ground, 1 liang) Magnetite (Cishi, 磁石, ground, 2 liang) Aged Qu (Chenqu, 陈曲, stir-fried and ground, 3 liang)
The above three ingredients. Pound and grind into fine powder, sift. Separately, take three pig kidneys, remove the fatty membrane, and simmer in 2 sheng of strong wine until soft. Remove the kidneys, retain the wine, mix with the medicinal powder, and form pills the size of mung beans. Take 20 pills on an empty stomach with warm wine or boiled water.

Raw Rehmannia Root (Shengdihuang, 生地黄, 30 jin, pounded for juice) Apricot Seed (Xingren, 杏仁, 3 sheng, peeled, tips and twin kernels removed, mixed with Rehmannia juice and ground into paste) Black Sesame Oil (Wumayou, 乌麻油, 1 sheng, mixed with Rehmannia juice, ground and pressed for juice) Walnut Kernel (Hutaorang, 胡桃瓤, 1 jin, ground separately with apricot seeds) Hemp Oil (Damayou, 大麻油, 1 sheng) Clove (Dingxiang, 丁香) Costus Root (Muxiang, 木香) Achyranthes Root (Niuxi, 牛膝, sliced) Ginseng (Renshen, 人参) White Poria (Baifuling, 白茯苓, black skin removed, each 3 liang) Jie Xiang (Jianxiang, 笺香) Agarwood (Chenxiang, 沉香, chipped) Benzoin Resin (Anshixiang, 安息香, pounded into chess-piece sized pieces, boiled in water until soft, each 2 liang) Gallnut (Wushizi, 无食子) Chebula Fruit Peel (Helilepi, 诃黎勒皮, each 5 liang) Willow Bark (Liuzhipi, 柳枝皮, stir-fried dry) Salt Flower (Yanhua, 盐花, each 3 liang) Pine Resin (Songzhi, 松脂, contained in a cloth bag, boiled in water; select high quality, let it melt naturally into the broth, cool to solidify; if not white enough, change bag and boil until very white, take 8 liang) Borneol (Longnao, 龙脑, ground, 1 fen) White Honey (Baimi, 白蜜, 1 sheng) Ghee (Su, 酥, 1 jin)
The above twenty-one ingredients. Pound and grind the medicines to extreme fineness, mix with various drugs and Rehmannia juice to form a paste. Store in porcelain bottles, divided into three bottles, each filled about seven-tenths full, do not fill completely. Place bottles on bricks in a stove, apply fire around all sides. When the medicine in the bottle boils, stir with willow branches. Add Rehmannia juice as needed until finished. Check frequently; stop when pills can be formed. After cooling, store the medicine, cover the bottle mouth with wax paper to prevent leakage. Contain one pill after each meal, size of a bullet, swallow with saliva. Three times daily, once at night. Effects seen in ten days, great effects in one hundred days. During initial medication, reside in a clean room for one month. Avoid radish, lotus root, and garlic. Frequent consumption of small amounts of fresh ginger leads to rapid effect.
Zhi Nao Xu Zhifa Kucui Mu An Huaishi Gao (Treat Brain Deficiency Causing Withered Facial/Scalp Hair and Dim Vision, Sophora Fruit Ointment) Formula
Sophora Fruit (Huaishi, 槐实, peel removed, use black ones, stir-fried and pounded to powder, 1 he) Mirabilite (Mayaxiao, 马牙硝, ground, 3 qian) Raw Rehmannia Root (Shengdihuang, 生地黄, pounded for natural juice, 1 he) Ghee (Su, 酥, refined, 1 liang)
The above four ingredients. Place Rehmannia juice in a silver or stone vessel. Apply mild heat. First add Sophora fruit powder, then Mirabilite. Stir continuously, maintaining a boil resembling fish eyes. When reduced by half, add ghee. Boil for thirty to twenty more boils. Pour out and place in a porcelain box. Each time before sleep, insert a date-pit-sized amount into the nose. Remove pillow, lie supine with legs extended. Evil fluid draining from the brain is not strange.
Rongyang Zhifa Huaitao Gao (Nourish Facial and Scalp Hair, Sophora-Walnut Ointment) Formula
Wall Moss (Wasong, 瓦松, half raw, half calcined to ash) Iron Powder (Tiefen, 铁粉, quenched ten times in vinegar using plow iron, pounded and ground) Sheep Feces (Yangfen, 羊粪, half raw, half calcined to ash) Sophora Branch (Huazhi, 槐枝, finely chipped, each 1 liang) Walnut Kernel (Hetaoren, 胡桃仁, 1 jin)
The above five ingredients. Excluding Wall Moss, etc., pound Walnut Kernels and Sophora Branches together into a mass, pack tightly into a small bottle. Cut Sophora branches to two cun length, insert densely into the bottle, flush with the rim. Take another bottle capable of holding the first bottle. Align them, dig a pit, bury the empty outer bottle level with the ground. Place the inner bottle containing the mixture inside. Burn with horse manure overnight. After cooling, open. The clear oil dripping into the lower bottle is collected. Mix this oil with the first three ingredients to apply to the head. Wash cleanly daily and replace medicine.
Rongyang Zhifa Hongzhi You (Nourish Facial and Scalp Hair, Mercury-Leech Oil) Formula
Mercury (Hong, 汞, 1 liang) Dried Leech (Ganshizhi, 干水蛭, 7 specimens, pounded to powder)
The above two ingredients. Make a small container from 3 liang of silver, hold mercury and leeches. Seal firmly with mud made from earthworm soil. Thickness approx. half finger width. Bury deeply in horse manure for forty-nine days. Retrieve; it transforms into black oil. Use fish bladder as a finger cot. Dip occasionally, rub onto beard. The oil naturally travels to the beard roots, turning them black.
Rongyang Zhibin Laoya Wujin San (Nourish Beard and Sideburns, Firm Teeth, Black Gold Powder) Formula
Aconite Root (Caowutou, 草乌头, 4 liang) Green Salt (Qingyan, 青盐, 2 liang)
The above two ingredients. Pound green salt to powder, put into a storage bottle. Cover with a tile, drill a hole in the tile. Seal externally with paper-mud, leaving the original hole. Dry, then roast with fire until black smoke ceases and blue smoke appears. Cover with new yellow earth overnight. Retrieve and powder. Rub teeth daily before washing face. Rinse mouth after washing face. Three times daily.
Rongyang Zhibin Shiliu Jiang (Nourish Beard and Sideburns, Pomegranate Juice) Formula
In May, select fresh sour pomegranates from southeast branches, large fruits grown upright without tilting. Poke a hole on top with chopsticks, depth over one cun. Pour in half liang of mercury. Do not seal. Expose to wind, sun, rain, and dew until October when leaves fall. Harvest. The shell contents become liquid. Use a small pig bladder as a finger dipper. Dip and twist in the juice. Rinse with water immediately. Color does not fade, remains unchanged for one hundred days.
Rongyang Zhifa Sanwu Gao (Nourish Facial and Scalp Hair, Three-Ingredient Ointment) Formula
Willow Branch (Liuzhi, 柳枝) Mulberry Branch (Sangzhi, 桑枝) Sophora Branch (Huazhi, 槐枝) (Each chopped, 1 sheng)
The above three ingredients. Boil in two dou of water until reduced to one dou. Strain dregs. Add one jin of good salt. Simmer into ointment. Store in porcelain box. Rub teeth before sleep.
Rongyang Zhifa Hetao Gao (Nourish Facial and Scalp Hair, Walnut Ointment) Formula
Fresh Small Walnuts (Xinxiao Hetao, 新小胡桃, 3 pieces)
The above single ingredient. Pound finely with peel. Use two zhan of milk. Simmer in silver or stone vessel with mild heat. Stir with bamboo spatula into paste. When using, wash beard and hair cleanly. Dip brush in paste and apply to beard and hair.
